The New Crown deserves it's popularity. The food is good, plentiful and varied. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, fresh, of a reasonable size and very well appointed for pub rooms. Showers are hot, with plenty of flow and pressure. The ensuite of room 5 is a very compact and it's an old noisy box aircon that probably is on it's way out, but it did cool the room down during a hot few days. An easy choice if I go back through again.

The twin room with ensuite was clean, well-presented, and comfortable—great value for money. The food was another highlight: delicious and generous portions. Was not expecting too much, oldish Pub Accommodation. But Room was large, Air Conditioned, bed was great, large soft , extra pillows I asked for, Shower area clean, showers great pressure, hot water aplenty, and it was river water, so not hard. Had a Bistro / Restaurant Dinner, excellent, but not breakfast, you can not have everything. I will be asking to book there again. I do not have the endurance to drive Adelaide - Canberra or Sydney in one go at the moment, Hay is ideal, and the New Crown is a Comfortable Base. Thank you New Crown Hotel.

The Room and location were already excellent, so only breakfast, but breakfast was available at numerous places in Hay, so it allowed you to get out into the Community.

New Crown is where we stay when we are travelling through Hay. It's a Pub so accommodation is basic but clean and functional. The room we had each time has a double bed and a single as well as an en-suite bathroom. The best thing about the New Crown is the location and the kitchen. Hay doesn't have a huge number of options for food, so having a decent Pub Restuarant where you stay is very handy. I had a 450Gram steak that was great - for $30. Kids meals were $10. Like I said - its basic accomodation, it's a Pub, so some people might prefer to stay in a Motel, but for us we just need something central, where we can get a decent dinner and access to local cafes (there's 2 within a block walk) in the morning for a coffee, so we can get on the road again. Parking available out the back with easy access to the Hotel - although it's not secure parking, I think there is CCTV.

No breakfast available. But there is a Bakery and a cafe within a block of the Hotel.

Fantastic value for money ! Stayed in a single room which had its own ensuite. The most comfy mattress I've ever slept on. Had split system and tv and bar fridge Kettle, biscuits. BONUS - 24/7 access to outdoor old verandah where you could have a cigarette or have a drink . Bar downstairs with warm fire , beer garden with BQUE facilities with access to carpark , dining room/restaurant to have lunch or dinner, fantastic meals, pokies . Very friendly down to earth staff . Location in CBD so everything you need is on your doorstep.

I wasn't able to make a cup of tea sadly as you couldn't fill up the kettle using the bathroom basin as it's far to small to place the kettle under to fill

The apartment we booked is on the ground floor which is very convenient. It was very spacious with a kitchen that has a full size fridge, oven and stove top and microwave. It has a separate lounge room, 2 bedrooms each with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. The staff at the pub are really friendly and welcoming. The meals were really good - we had the lamb cutlets which had 3 cutlets and the Warm Chicken Salad. The prices for meals and drinks are excellent.

We were pleasantly surprised at the unit being offered as pub accommodation. Not your usual find for this price range. We loved that it offered flexibility for our family. Everything was great.

Not much to not like. We arrived late so missed the kitchen service which we would have liked to sample. Parking was easily located at the rear however, it also seemed to be in use by patrons. Fortunately we got the last spot.

The man working at the bar, I think he said his name was Kel, was super friendly and gave us good advice and made us laugh. The food was delicious even the side salad was tasty. The bathroom was really cute, we loved how private the shower felt and the bright tiles so you knew there wasn't anything gross hiding on them. The bed was comfy

The toilet never flushed properly for me, just paper wouldn't go down until you flushed several times We could hear our neighbours shower The aircon was loud and made a high-pitched sound There weren't good plug positions only one under the tv The bathroom fan didn't have a cover on it so it was a bit creepy as it was a dark hole in the roof with scary blades and plugs lol

The hotel was on the main street so central to shops groceries etc. It had a welcoming feel to it like most country pubs. Parking was in the back of the pub so fairly secure. The room had an ensuite and a lounge and included toaster, jug, microwave crockery and cutlery. The bed was comfy and the hotel quiet by 10. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were seeking a pub experience and got it!
