We recently enjoyed 2 seperate short stays on the same trip. We were left really impressed by the very friendly staff and the location. The restaurant is also top notch. We managed to spot 5-6 koalas one evening in the trees in the streets adjoing the property. The property itself has a great aspect, looking out over Eastern Cove on Kingscote Harbour, which is inhabited by adundant. A special call out to staff member, Yuki, who supplied some fish and took us down to the water's edge to feed the pelicans and pacific gulls that come to her call. Very special.

We cannot fault anything about this beautiful lodge. It exceeded all our expectations. The room was spacious and had a great water view. We enjoyed watching the dawn breakout every morning. And the sounds of birds all around us. The breakfasts were excellent. The restaurant was very good too. We had dinner there a couple of nights. We cannot say enough about the wait staff at breakfast and dinner. They were simply great; friendly, efficient, informative and all round fun to converse with. Special mention for "Yuki". The location was good too; nice walks close by and easy road access to Penneshaw & Kingscote. We highly recommend K.I. Lodge.

There were two meal areas, the restaurant which was a la carte and the bar which was typical bar food. Both were above average. The room had wheelchair access, as did all the main areas, (not necessary for us, but good to have) and was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The view across the lagoon was amazing and watching sunrise each morning was fantastic. Staff went beyond to be of assistance.

There was am issue with wifi which was a supplier fault and not the hotel's. This was outages due to upgrades, mostly annoying but you could live with it.

American River is a bit out of the way, and KI Lodge is almost as far as you can go before the road ends! We had a superior King Bayview room, which had a nice balcony, 2 decent beds and was tastefully decorated. Its features include tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, an iron and ironing board, and a room safe. And thank you to the hotel for the “welcome gift” of a bottle of wine and cookies; very thoughtful! There is an a la carte restaurant and a bar, which served food. We chose the latter and were quite happy with the selection of meals available. It has a marked walk in their rear grounds, which we did, and were lucky to see glossy black Cockatoos in the wild. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Also, it's only 40 mins to the ferry, so very convenient.

The swimming pool looked like it needed a good clean.

Lovely view of the bay, lots of birds, room was spacious and clean, thumbs up for the nice heater in the bathroom and the complimentary late check out. Dinner was expensive but very good.

Limited options at the restaurant especially for breakfast, forced to pay 29.99 for a fixed menu. Wanted to have just toast and jam and a coffee....not possible. Entry equals 29.99 per person for a fixed menu. No pancakes, waffles, French toast.

Wow, we liked everything. We stayed in a studio apartment which was enormous. Had patio outside which allowed us to sit and listen to all the birds around American river. We could see the river behind the trees from our room. Bathroom fabulous too. Menu choices pretty fair with daily specials options. Laundry area should you require to clean clothes during stay.

the room was lovely the balcony water view was stunning. but beware of the mosquitos. wish they would have advised us. The pool needs to be renovated. the restaurant was 3/5. free breakfast however was a plus.

i didnt like the outdated pool, and the mosquitos. there should be a screen door at the balcony or even provide guests with a warning the very leats. mosquito spray should be an automatic to the the balcony rooms

Great place to visit kangaroo island. Very nice location, very close to wildlife. The staff were extremely accommodating, and the restaurant and breakfast crew were very nice. The rooms are a bit old, but everything is very well looked after, and cleaning is top notch. The pool is great for some sunny afternoons, and for those travelling with kids. We wished we had stayed here during our whole visit to kangaroo island.

Peaceful setting. Quality of the food in both the bar and the restaurant was very good.

The breakfast menu was a fixed menu only, I would have preferred a buffet style breakfast as an option. The TV screen on the wall had a large light underneath it which glowed even when not in use and no way to cover it up (this was only an issue at night as it brightened the room a fair bit).

No facilities re microwave etc. Car parking was challenging as when the restaurant was full, you couldn't find a park, even being a paid guest. Would recommend numbered parking spots for paying hotel guests. As this was frustrating.
