We stayed here for one night near the end of cycling the Mawson Trail. The service was above and beyond what we were expecting, and it was by far the nicest motel room I've stayed in. We were given some great recommendations for dinner and there were refreshment available in the lobby while we checked in. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was decorated in a refreshing tropical theme. The room also had a TV, couch, small table and even a spa bath (which we didn't use) which were great for relaxing after a big day on the road. There was also a gym which my boyfriend was super excited to use even after all our cycling 😂 while we didn't use them, there were even massage chairs that we could have used for $25. They were pretty tempting!

The guest lounge area was really nice! There’s a fancy couch in front of a wall of faux plants, a pair of comfy velour high backed chairs, several sets of tables with stools, and a small but good condition pool table which was FREE to use! The gym was well equipped, although we did use it ourselves. The rooms are basic, but clean & have everything you need. Bathrooms are authentically from the 50/60’s, but still fine

The guest areas closed at 5:30pm, which we understand for the sake of staff, but meant we only had our rooms to be in from then. The gym space lacked any clear floor area for stretching & yoga style activities.

Really central location, owners working on refurbishing the motel rooms, the one done so far was lovely, however the other older rooms were immaculately clean with lots of little extra touches to decor to lift the rooms. The reception and new lounge area with the ‘press for champagne’ button was such a fun addition that you wouldn’t expect. Also the gym and spa room great options to have while you’re away. Owners and staff were awesome so helpful, great communication even before we arrived providing great information, a glass of complimentary champagne on arrive was brilliant and the spa massage chairs before we headed off on the drive home was just the thing to finish off a great trip.

Nothing, can’t wait to see the refurbishment complete as the rooms/bathrooms are old but the owners have worked hard with the soft furnishings/artwork update to lift them until they are refurbed.

I had a great holiday, location was fantastic and staff were extremely helpful.

The bed was uncomfortable, I did stay for 11 nights and not sure if many people stay that long, but by the time I left I found I was having trouble sleeping. The first night I stayed there was a tradesman working until 10pm, this seemed a bit late, I am assuming they were trying to get ready for visitors for 'Gather Round', this was mildly annoying so not a huge issue and was only the first night.

I really appreciated the value for money this motel offers. The room was clean and well-presented, with all the basic amenities that made the stay convenient. The beds were comfortable, and the location was ideal—quiet and close to Barossa attractions and shopping. The staff were cheerful and genuinely interested in our stay, making us feel welcome. As we were there for a basketball carnival, they even asked about how we were going and were excited to hear we got a win, which added a nice personal touch to the experience. I also enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, which made it a relaxing getaway.

The bathroom lacked sufficient shelving or storage for toiletries, making it difficult to keep things organized. Additionally, the shower pressure was inconsistent, which made showering less enjoyable. The reception is unattended, with a push button available to alert staff, but it could benefit from an upgrade to make it more noticeable and convenient, especially since many hotels have reception readily on hand. Lastly, the drive-in and parking area could use a makeover, as filling potholes and smoothing out the surface would make a big difference in the overall experience.

The room was clean. The bed was very comfortable with quality linen. The shower had good pressure. The table setting outside of the room was great, we could enjoy a wine and nibbles and chat with other guests. Elizabeth and Kennedy were very friendly and welcoming.

The bathroom was very small. The vanity basin was low with no space to place toiletries.

All that you need when your getaway isn't about spending your day at your accommodation, but rather, about enjoying the Barossa Valley and all its treasures. It was perfectly comfortable and well priced.

It's nothing luxurious. Some minor maintenance would make the experience a bit more enjoyable, including to toilet roll holder and shower controls.

We were delighted to be guests at Barossa Gateway Motel. The newly renovated room that we enjoyed was spectacular. We are thankful of the kind hospitality of our hosts and of the late complimentary checkout. We highly recommend this Motel as you come to enjoy the delights of the Barossa Valley and the Mid North of SA.

Everything was very good for budget accommodation. Having travelled and worked, I was greatful to have a microwave and utensils in my room, so as not to have to eat out.

Honestly, there wasn’t much to complain about. If I had to find something, I would say the rooster over the back fence, but that is out of anyone’s control and he really was that bad. So no complaints from me.

Lovely little room, recently renovated, super comfy beds, great wifi, lovely staff. Great location - close to all the best of the Barossa. Good shopping just down the road too. Elizabeth, the new owner, is a gem. Definitely worth a visit.

There was nothing not to like.
