Good-sized, nicely-decorated and clean room. Spacious bathroom - larger than I would normally expect in a motel. Well-equipped kitchenette with fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave, so easy to make breakfast or other light meals. Easy walk to town centre and beaches.

Couple of small suggestions: Could a chain or bolt be added to the door, as my door wasn't shut properly overnight but I didn't notice until the morning. A chain would provide extra peace of mind. Can the WiFi password be displayed somewhere obvious in the room, as I couldn't find it but didn't want to disturb the staff to ask for it when I was only there for one night.

Exactly what we needed for our one night stay en route to South Australia. Exceptionally clean, recently modernised I'd say, in shades of grey/white. Very well looked after! We opted for a Deluxe Queen chalet (No.5) with parking right upto the door. Everything we needed was there, plus complimentary tea/sugar/coffee, etc. It was at least a twenty minute walk to the port where we enjoyed a lovely meal at Edwards Waterfront restaurant. There was plenty of free parking though, if you needed to drive. There is a KFC next door to the motel, plus other eateries further into town. Lots of other lovely shops too, Woolworths, Bakers Delight, Reject Shop, etc.

There wasn't anything to dislike and we were met by a friendly guy on the desk.

The best motel/hotel bed and pillow combination I have ever encountered (and that is a lot, during 60 years of domestic and international travel for business and pleasure). Refurbishment of an old motel was done with simplicity, taste and good workmanship. Location is good and only 10 minutes walk to town centre and good hotel restaurant. Junk food within 50 metres if that's what you really want.

Nothing, given my expectations for the cost.

Not the most outwardly attractive motel, however the room was very clean, bed comfortable and bathroom large, airy and very clean. Very good value for money when looking for a place to sleep and shower. Surprisingly way better than expected. Would stay again if looking for a bed along the Great Ocen Road to rest.

Easy to find, Checkin was efficient and pleasant with good suggestions. Room was well sized and clean. For a 1-3 day stay for the price I feel this is a great value option for staying at Portland. The motel is an older style however its clear and evident that the current owner is working through the rooms and upgrading them (especially the bathrooms). So the price for a room is more than fair. Overall I would recommend staying here as a value option. People travelling on business would enjoy this motel.

I did mention above the rooms being upgraded. Unfortunately the room we got (room 1) is the one that hadnt had its bathroom upgraded yet. That said the bathroom was still spacious very clean and more than functional (no complaints for my perspective). Only minor issue was there was noise from the next room, we could hear next door but not loud enough to actually understand the conversation, and when the shower was in use we could hear the water running. For those who read this review do not see this as negative comments as neither item above really bothered us at all...If you are able to ring ahead and request not to be in room 1 until its upgraded I think that would be useful (I am confident the owner will finish the new bathrooms very shortly).

We had a surprisingly good stay, with good modern facilities, a very comfortable bed and everything was quite new. We noted that everything was neat and clean. Parking was easy and right by the door. Pretty quiet too, even though the motel is right on a main road. Units are sheltered from noise by a wall.

The location meant a longish walk (or a short drive) to food places.

A motel as it should be. Friendly staff. Fully equipped and clean. Parking right outside the door. Located directly on the main road, but still quiet. Shopping facilities nearby. Barbecue station available in the garden.

What a great find the Mariner Motel was. From the minute Aaron greeted us at check in we knew this would be a great place to stay. Every detail has been thought through, room exceptional from size, layout and cleanliness. It was so nice to have so many power points in the room (yes, only minor but sometimes it can be so annoying to try and find a power point). Pretty obvious Aaron takes great pride in the Mariner Motel. Would highly recommend, would not disappoint,

Has almost everything you need. Microwave, comfortable bed, Netflix, quiet snd nice staff. Fairly close to town.

Just a suggestion , sat at bench for meals. No problem but would be better with small table and chairs so we can play our board games at table in the evening.
