Convenient location next to the Landestheater and the Kunsthaus. When we arrived at the hotel the whole team was friendly but seemed a bit on edge due to various issues with guests/rooms. We arrived a bit too early and asked kindly if our room might be ready - as it was only another 20-30 min before the official check-in time. It was not - which was fine but a bit unusual - so we came back half an hour later and there still seemed to be some issues, so we got a new room allocated (therefore we will never know how the intended room would have been like ;-)). The good news was that despite the lack of a view (see below) the new room was a great room. Medium-sized with (from left to right) a comfy chair and table on the left, followed by a double bed, then opposite a built-in desk with a chair, followed by a door to a small bathroom with toilet, shower and sink (no window), and finally in sort of an ante-room a fairly large wardrobe area where we could put our luggage (ten suitcases would have fitted there easily too ;-)). The room was very cosy (with heating and A/C) and clean. Modern design in colours light-brown (floor and built-ins), teal, also with golden accents (walls), and black (bed frame and shower, bathroom floor). Tea and coffee making facilities were being provided (which is unusual for Austria but we appreciated that a LOT). There is also a restaurant at the hotel and a bar area. Breakfast was included in the price. Breakfast was buffet-style with literally lots of choices in a nice, open-plan room, so there was enough space for everyone to enjoy the delicious breakfast at leisure. Staff was very kind as it was possible to leave our luggage at the reception until we left by night train on the day of departure.

The "view" from the room was not ideal - mostly a grey wall and then parts of a courtyard filled with various skylights/skylight domes for the level below.

Everything. The front desk staff friendly and helpful. They even cashed in some Swiss CHF money I had left over, into Euros for me. saved me from having to bring back to USA. Location was great. Lakefront walkway, train station, boat docks, just across the main street. Restaurants, small grocery store, shopping all just minutes away. Room was very nice. Size and comfort wise. The bathroom floor was even heated. Breakfast was amazing.

Very little! Outside front, table and chairs on their patio seating area, were all chained up, couldn't be used. Rooms need luggage stand/racks. Had to use couch and ottoman for our luggage stands.

Nice hotel nice room. Good breakfast with quality products. Situated in an excellent spot, near to centre of town and only 6 minute walk to the harbour where we caught our boat. The young guy on reception was super helpful and friendly as we're the others on the reception desk.

Usually when you are supplied with tea making facilities in the room you receive t bags, sugar and milk to actually make the drinks, ours were non existent. Also I feel the hotel is slightly over priced but that's just my opinion.

Great location, we loved the room, it was both cosy and practical. Also the parking is convenient, breakfast is completely perfect. Also we enjoyed the restaurant food for dinner. For Bregenz/Bodensee area we would definitely stay again

Very strange language set up (I speak German but prefer English, somehow the staff seems uncomfortable with English but does not really like you to speak German as a foreigner - so obviously not perfect - as well). The hotel in general does not seem child-friendly, so maybe would be ok to mention as a general, that they don't prefer families.

Nice & responsive staff, clean & comfortable rooms. Good restaurant with good food & nice service in the hotel. A really nice gesture is the option to extend your stay beyond checkout time by paying a small extra fee per hour (max three or four). The hotel is situated right in the centre & for those arriving by car the underground garage with an elevator straight to your floor is another feature that makes staying at Messmer's delightful.

Excellent place, rooms can be completely darkened, excellent breakfast & dinner restaurant, calm, close to the lake.

Pillows too soft, you do not get a guarantee in advance for a place in the garage, but we had no problem when there. Some of the staff has to learn to smile (reception), te others were perfect - esp. in the restaurant!

Fantastic location, nice staff and very comfortable room with big comfy bed. The Messmer will not disappoint. There is also a bar and breakfast restaurant attached. The hotel is in a busy pedestrian street with many nearby food and drink options. It's also a 5' walk to the lake, and a 10' walk to the train station.

The hallways are a bit narrow in the upper floor of the hotel. The breakfast could have more options - considering the rating / standing of the hotel.

The location of the hotel is more or less direct in center. Driving there is pretty easy. The rooms have a good size and all available you need. The breakfast is very good and staff nice and organized. Whatever is empty, they fill up direct without the need to point them. The offered food is very good and you can get more or less everything. There is also a outside terrace which you can use when the weather allows it.

It was all very nice and clean. Location is excellent, close to downtown and train station.

For 4 stars could be nice to have sleepers for the shower. I didn't find any. Please avoid rooms 150-153 - can be really noisy in the morning due to trucks coming in that street. But this is not the hotel's fault. Just tell them at the reception not to give you those rooms. I stayed in 153 and it was bad traffic in the morning.

Almost everything. The staff of the hotel was really nice and helpful. Location of the hotel was just perfect to visit the Christmas Market. The sofa bed was ideal for family with one kid. Breakfast was fabulous.

Wall to the next apartment was a bit thin. When they threw shoes onto the floor in the middle of the night, it sounded like a bomb was dropped.
