Very good location in historical downtown. Free parking for check-in/check-out in front of the house. After that, you can park for free near the gas station, next to the main road. Nice building, old style decorated. Large apartment with all you need to spend few days or longer time (kitchen, etc.). A small balcony with monastery view, if you want to go out for smoking.

The heat didn't worked, even was a cold weather. The radiators start to heat just on the last morning.

- the apartment was quite spacious - we travelled as three people and it was a good fit - very decent equipment and appliances including a dishwasher, TV, pots and plates, utensils etc. - curtains which blocked the light well - ventilation in the bathroom - location and easy check-in (adding a few pictures from our trips to Aggstein and Schönbühel)

- no oven (only microwave), a broken toaster + some useful kitchen tools and bowls missing, however the overall equipment of the apartment is very decent - not enough of toilet paper - not enough of dishwasher tablets - problems with Wifi - it was working on the day of arrival and then not, we messaged the host, then some person came in to ask about the problems, then it was working for a while and then not working again

The apartment was really clean and tidy. We arrived late at night but the given instructions with the gate code and room key lockbox were clear and worked perfectly so getting into the apartment was easy and worry free. The lodging is in the heart of Melk, right at the feet of the hill on which stands the Melk Abbey. :) I would recommend this to couples smaller groups traveling together who want to visit Melk.

The only slight downside is that parking is not free and it is not easy to drive and navigate in the narrow street. But free parking is 4 minutes walk away and the host advises on parking there after unloading the baggages. We did just that and it was perfect for us. Maybe for families with kids and a lot of luggage it is not that fortunate. But I would not judge this as a real downside since the host stated this clearly right from the start. :)

A charming historical place right in the center. The rooms have been nicely renovated — they are clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning, which might be an issue during hot days, but since we stayed only one night, it wasn’t a big problem for us.

It would be great if there was a covered area for bicycles. We could leave our bikes only in an open space at the back, which we reached through a hallway. Unfortunately, they were left outside in the rain, which was a bit inconvenient.

Golden Star has the best location for accommodation in the beautiful old town of Melk, which is a real gem of the Wachau Valley. The historic building is quality renovated and well furnished. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Perfect soundproofing. The main square of the old town is a 1 minute walk away and the car park is only a three minute walk. There are many restaurants and cafes close by.

It would be more convenient if guests were offered a little shampoo, but it is not a big issue and overall it was a lovely stay.

The apartment is in a vintage building very close to the city center. It very nicely decorated and it was very convenient to have two bathrooms with showers (not also toilets though). The fact that they provide free parking comes handy as there is no other parking space in the area. The view of the apartment right to the Melk Abbey is quite great!

I did not like: - that despite having a coffee machine, the were no coffee pods in the room. They are available only on the corridor for 2 Euro. So if you plan to have your coffee inside, make sure you have coins. Otherwise, there are places nearby that open quite early and you can have a coffee to go; - the building is most likely not very well insulated as it was still quite cold in the room even with the heating working at full capacity. If you have problems with cold feet, bring sleepers; - it would have been nice to have oil, sugar & salt as it is incovenient, especially when staying for just one night, to have to buy a whole bottle/package just to use it once.

We spent only 1 night here, on our way to Germany. It was a superb choice, because it is close to the motorway and was a great value for money. We could park a few minutes away for free and walked to the apartment in 3 minutes. It is an old building, but the room was modern, clean and well equipped. The communication with the "reception" was easy, we received all the information we needed (via e-mail) to get the keys (in a safe box) and about other topics. With a few steps, you can reach a restaurant (Rathauskeller), a café (Madar) and a cocktail/wine bar (Kalmuck). Melk is a beautiful small city, so next time we will stay longer.

- Location is great. Right in the middle of the small town. Not need to walk much, as Melk is just a small village. - It’s clean and the bed is comfortable. The toilet and the bathroom is separated. Water flow is great and warm for winter.

- It would be great if the property could provide breakfast in such a nice place. It’s a suggestion, not some we don’t like. - Elevator!! We had a room on the 3rd floor and it’s such a pain to pull our heavy luggage up!! A real workout. Not recommend if you have old folks or big, and many luggage. - For family, it would be good if the room could be bigger.

Very modern and comfortable apartment in a fantastic location

Tap in bathroom sink needs fixing as it sprays in all directions. Repeated automated messages from Golden Star saying we had not filled in guest registration and would not be able to access our apartment became very stressful, especially as we had indeed done this. Lack of information about gaining access on a huge festival day when whole town was closed down, caused us more unnecessary stress. We got a message today telling us welcome and how to access the apartment even though we left two days ago! Someone needs to look into their communication system and improve it.

For the price we paid to stay here I was expecting far far less than what we got. Beautiful modern apartment, but keeping the old building feel. We had the ground floor apartment with lovely tall arched ceilings and where the apartments are on a smaller road just off the main street you wouldn't even know you were on the ground floor. There's no reserved car park for the apartments but the free car park less than 5mins round the corner was not a problem. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Melk and it's a great base to see the rest of the Wachau valley from
