Boutique hotel, reasonably priced, locally run, on edge of Santa Maria but easy walk to town centre. Close to beach. Quiet and relaxed. Food in the evening excellent. Warm and friendly staff, very helpful. Room was large, simply furnished with local touches, very comfortable. Clean and pleasant. Pool never too busy. Overall, as a couple without children, so much nicer than being in a huge anonymous resort that sends profits overseas!

Nothing really. It was windy and dusty when we arrived which made us nervous about the trip in general, but the place grew on us more and more. Would have loved to see a yoga class or similar. A missed opportunity, perhaps?

Wonderful staff and beautiful hotel, who accommodated our needs beyond expectations. Great pool and pool area too. Bed was comfortable and shower was great. Breakfast is buffet and a la carte, where they kindly made us vegan options (oat pancakes / spring rolls). Also recommend the massages. We arranged taxi pick/drop offs with the hotel. Location: Hotel is located 10mins walk from the main street but in a peaceful place, with local cafes (vs tourist ones) like Art Kafe/Restaurant and Cape Fruit Cafe. Shell beach is a stone throws away, gorgeous shells! Shoutout to the great lady/manager at reception!

For the price paid, would be good to have some extra things in the room like a mirror (only the 1 in bathroom) and a bin (also, 1 small one in the bathroom). More local options for dinner would also be nice.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The lovely staff was really the best part of the experience. Amazing view from the pool area, with the sea and everything in the background. We had a room with sea view, which was also great. There were no mosquitoes at all in February 2025 (probably because of the wind). Food in the restaurant was quite good, we had a few meals there.

You had to walk quite far to come to a nice and swimming-friendly beach, because the closest one is the “shell-cemetery beach”. The best beaches are west from Pontão de Santa Maria. The hotel is located at the far end of the town. The area around the hotel looks like it’s being built right now, but there are not many shops or restaurants close by the hotel. It’s not a problem though if you’re open to a 10 min walk. It was very windy at the resort, so windy it was hard to read a book or wear a hat without it flying away. The hotel was fully booked when we were there and all the spots around the pool were usually taken around 9-10 am.

The staff are friendly. The hotel wasn’t overcrowded which was nice as all 10-15 guests could use the swimming pool throughout the day without bothering each other. We never felt unsafe in Santa Maria but the hotel had two security guards. The receptionist can help book a taxi or different adventures. We needed to check out early because of our flight and the staff packed some simple breakfast for us the day before.

The first room we got had an issue with the air conditioner so in a few hours we needed to move to another room but the staff was very helpful and supportive in the process. It’s very convenient that the restaurant is part of the hotel. The restaurant staff are also very friendly but the prices are high like in Northern Europe, one mean 10+ euros. The location is not bed, it’s a quiet area with few people passing by the pool but it’s one of the last hotels in the town. When walking towards the center at night you have to walk a few hundred meters in a darker area, a bit uncomfortable.

Restaurant is good for breakfast but feels a bit canteen like for dinner, it would be nice if they could find a way to make the restaurant a bit more cozy for evening given that its difficult to eat on the terrace due to the constant wind, but the food is delicious, perhaps on the pricey side but you pay a bit more for quality, this chef knows how to cook!!

Nice, small and clean hotel in a quiet location.

The hotel staff is very courteous and friendly, but some had difficulties in understanding English, especially at the restaurant. More then once it happened, that we did actually not get what we ordered. And the beach in front of the hotel was disappointing with basically no access to the sea to take a bath.

Clean property. Beautiful swimming pool. Calm area. Near the cap perfect for walking and running. Five minutes walk to the town full of bars and restaurants. Comfortable bed and a big tv with rich selection of channels. 2 minutes walk to the beach gym and two surf -restaurants.

The shower was a bit small but comfortable. Very strict about the breakfast hours. 10am is a bit early to close the breakfast on a holiday destination. The coffee machine was a bit confusing but all in all very good breakfast with scrambled eggs, crepes and collection of bread and cakes. And a variety of fresh fruits.

The meals were superb with outstanding presentation at dinner and the staff were all wonderful. The location of the hotel was conducive to a most relaxing and enjoyable stay. Our room was very spacious with a very comfortable mattress and the non-slip walk-in shower was ideal. There were plenty of sun loungers and the musical entertainment in the evenings contributed to a very pleasant experience. We really liked the fact that the hotel catered almost exclusively for adults.

Very little - the only improvements I could suggest would be the addition of a full length mirror in bedroom 12 and the curtain in the room didn’t fully close - relevant as the room was on the ground floor. This could easily be remedied if the railing was extended slightly.

Not sold as an adult only hotel, but that's really what it was. Nicely positioned 10 mins walk into Santa Maria and with only 29 rooms a breath of fresh air compared to the corporate / gated hotels just north of the capital. Pool of this size was a real bonus too.

Hotel understaffed on our arrival both at reception and in the dining room which was frustrating and not very well dealt with by the hotel. That said, it didn't happen again during the week so maybe just a one off. The walk into town is fine (10 mins) but the first 200m of this is across dusty wasteland. For those of us of a certain age it is possible to 'have a fall'!

Amazing location close to the city centre, staff was so welcoming and accommodating at all times, could communicate well in English. The room was designed well, cleaned to top standard on daily basis. Inclusive breakfast was wonderful with great options (same for lunch and dinner). The pool was the highlight of the trip as there were comfy loungers and staff taking orders for cocktails.
