The staff was amazing. Paola is wonderful. It's in a safe and secure part between the beach and the center of Santa Maria. A grocery store is close. The people in the neighborhood are great and super friendly. There are so many great restaurants around that are affordable. There are 2 restaurants within a block of this location. My favorite part was watching people pass by on the street from my balcony. Paola and Mano are there to help you out. They are the friendly faces that are there twice a day to get you set up if you need to.....but you don't have to do anything if you don't want to. Wifi is great. Everything was SO easy. From the airport to Sakaroule. I spent 3 weeks here. I don't know where the time went, but it was a great place to call home and I am so grateful to Paola for her wonderful hospitality. Don't go to the big overpriced hotels. This is a very special place and if I ever come back, I would stay here again. Minutes from the beach. Minutes from great restaurants. Minutes from the central walk. Minutes from culture. Minutes from a shopping center. No taxi is needed. Most excursions will also pick you up from Sakaroule which Mano will set up for you if you need assistance with language or activity ideas.

Super-friendly hostess and staff who really do their best to make you feel at home. The B&B is nicely situated in a more local area, but still easy walking distance from a market, beach and the more touristic places. I did however had to get used to all the sounds of the surrounding area, but after 1 night you don't even notice that anymore. Also - my room was comfortable and clean, which the most important thing for me. Staying at Sakaroule was like staying at a funny family house. I had the pleasure to meet some nice people, which made the house an even more fun place to stay at!

The location is perfect, you're just a few minutes away from the main street and beach. You also have several good spots to eat near the b&b, you'll eat with the locals so that's always nice. The room is spacious and I was grateful to see the fan in the room. Lovely coffee from Fogo. But most of all, I cannot thank Paola enough for all the care and tips that she has given me in such a short time. I felt like I was part of the Sakaroule family. Paola makes you feel safe and as a solo traveller, you'll always be thankful for that. Lovaradeus! Hope to see you and Graciette soon.

The stay at Sakaroule was exceptional—great design, a comfortable bed, a minimalist room, but also everything you need. It was very clean, and the room was cleaned daily. Delicious local breakfast accompanied by Cape Verdean music, a lovely staff, and an owner who pours her heart into this place, always offering advice, tips, and engaging conversations. If I visit Sal again, I will definitely choose Sakaroule. More places like this in the world, and you’ll always feel at home.

The host and the rest of the staff were incredibly nice. She gave us a detailed map and told us all the places to visit and dishes to eat. The location is great. Not too far, but also not that busy. We felt safe there. The room gets cleaned every day.

The breakfast is very big and homemade products. The only “negative” thing I can say is that the breakfast is the same everyday. We like a little bit of variety, but we also cannot complain because the breakfast was very good.

Sara and Simone are amazing hosts! Enjoyed my stay very much, very good value for money, cozy common area/bar, located a bit away from the hustle and bustle, but still walkable in five minutes. I will be back;)

WiFi is not really functioning in rooms! Rooms are rather dark… Biggest downside for me is that the cozy bar/common area is only open 730-930am and 6pm-8pm, during the day it is closed. Most of the people staying are kite-surfers and at the beach during the day, but especially in the evenings, it would be nice to have an area to sit and meet others….

Sara, Simone and the girl who was taking care of our room were the main reason that I would go go back. The atmosphere that they create makes you feel welcome and well taken care of. They could answer any questions you have and point you in the right direction. Rooms were very clean, and although modest, sufficient for care-free vacation. Room sizes and layout vary, make sure that you pick the room that you need. Sakaroule is located a couole blocks from the main tourist pedestrian area and in the urban surroundings. There are a dozen of little local bars and restaurants in the vicinity for all to find what fits their budget.

Paola is a wonderful host! It was lovely to chat to her on multiple occasions as well as get some local recommendations for places to eat and go out. Sakaroule is the best place to stay in Santa Maria if you want to avoid the touristy strip of luxury resorts and have a more independent and local experience. A very comfortable stay with breakfast included, affordable, and a lovely community vibe. I would 100% stay again and recommend it to everyone!

Muito obrigado for the stay at Sakaroule! I really enjoyed my stay there, and overall in Sal. Paola is a great host. Even if you don´t speak english, she probably will speak the language you speak. She and Mano are very kind and helpful, giving good tips and recommendations for restaurants and sights on the island. I hope to come back soon!

Such a cute place. Had a lovely 10 days here, just 5 min walk from the beach. We had such a warm welcome from Sara and Simone who looked after us so well, and even borrowed us some beach towels. We felt at home here and enjoyed the morning coffee and fresh breads. The bar was cool too - Manu the barman makes a fantastic cocktail !! Very chilled and social. Everyone friendly.
