The hotel is beautiful. Love the cafe on the lobby

Poor service in the restaurant. Your neighbour was burning leaves the whole time we were there and the hotel smelled of smoke. Is it legal to open burn in sooke. There are no walks from the hotel. You have to drive everywhere and if it is busy you might not get parking when you return. The hotel was not that clean. The floor in the bathroom and floor edges were not cleaned. If you look at the elevator floor and edges they had not been cleaned in a while. Needs some detailing. I have stayed at the hotel a few times as I have family in the area but this time due to the above I have chosen to stay elsewhere.

The location, large open lobby space with all its amenities. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. We had to pay for an upgrade as the rooms we were given overlooked the parking lot. They said it was because we used an outside booking. We just decided that we came here for the view. Did not realize that because we used Booking.com that we wouldn't have a choice or at least did not see an option. Its a very beautiful hotel with a lot of great amenities. We ate dinner and breakfast in their restaurant and the food and staff were excellent.

As I have discovered, after staying in many hotels and motels all across Canada and the USA, it seems they all want to be economical and environmentally sound so would like one to reuse the towels. Which I have no problem with, but why can't they then provide more towel racks or hooks to hang them up! Often there is only room to hang one towel.

The lobby and covered porch are beautiful touches at this hotel. Wonderfully decorated with spectacular views. The views from the room were ok—we could see the water from two small windows on each side of the room but the center of the view (between the windows) was a long stretch of wall that certainly took away from the view. Also the walls were paper thin and we heard our very loud, very drunk neighbors for late into the evening. More/better soundproofing would be helpful. The restaurant had terrible service—we waited 1 hr, 53 minutes for our food with hungry kids. The waitress said she was busy but every table that was seated after us was served before we were.

Ashley was our waiter on new year's eve. she was fun and the food was spectacular The room was a generous size. the balcony was lovely to have. The decor in the lovely was beautiful. We also went to the spa on the 2nd which was a wonderful experience.

The comforter was not comfy or warm. The pillows were too big. The brunch on New year's day was very disappointing. The food choices were limiting, cold and not flavorful. A lot to pay for 42$ each for that poor quality. I also did not appreciate staff talking Tagalog to each other. It is rude because as a consumer, how do I know that they are not talking derogatory comments about people. I did mention this to the restaurant manager on Sunday.

Great location, stunning view and setting, friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful decor and presentation of the hotel. Fabulous food and great service - Enjoyed food and drink from the main restaurant and cafe in the main foyer (who had the most lovely staff). Really well priced. Really liked how helpful the reception staff were in responding to our initial disappointment / concern with the first room (Whilst we knew we had booked a room with a balcony that had a partial view of the water - What we didn't know until we went into the room was that it was a corner room, that had another balcony in front of ours and that other guests could be on their balcony and look into our room be in front of us). This was managed really well and did not make us feel awkward or embarrassed for raising our concerns / disappointment / how uncomfortable we felt. Another room was offered (which we accepted), whilst we lost our balcony we felt more private. The free use of the kayaks was a real bonus and thoroughly enjoyed. Great fun and a lovely way to explore the coast line. Able to see so many seals (from a safe / respectful distance). Great facilities just a short drive into Sooke.

The pool facilities (decor, inside and outside spaces look tired and don't feel as though they are on the same level in terms of presentation and care and attention that has been given to so many other parts of the hotel.

Location was excellent. On water with beautiful views, and close to town on the main road. We arrived in the dark, and it was easy to find. Hotel has three places to eat, so it was nice to relax after we arrived and go to dinner in the dining room. The Spa and pool looked nice, although we didn't use either, I would check them out next visit. Rooms were large with a balcony. Had fridge and microwave. Could make coffee in room, but a lovely coffee shop was in lobby.. The hotel is used for conventions, but because the conference rooms are on the bottom floor, you don't feel like you are staying in a Convention Center. They also have a laundry room that guests can use. We travel "carry on" so I really appreciated that feature.

Really, A beautiful place to stay as a couple or family. The only thing that might deter people from staying is the price. However, we travel a lot and for what the hotel offers, it is worth the price.

Great food. Loved the food in the lobby cafe. Their hot chocolate was made with Dutch chocolate and real milk yummy the restraunt made theirs from a packet and hot water uggg awful and charged $5 for it! I expected better. The person who cleaned our room was excellent. She / he recognized we only drank tea and left us tea bags. Lovely. I phoned this morning to see if anyone had handed in document in a folder at the restraunt could you check and get back to me?

Would be nice to see a daily special on the restaurant menu. Also would a breakfast oatmeal option. The yogurt parfait with granola was served with musilli not granola and was very dry. We asked for mild to go with the yogurt as it was very dry.

The rooms were spacious clean and comfortable. The food was good. Staff was kind and helpful. The views were stunning.

I happened to get the room that's directly across the courtyard from the restaurant. Had I known I'd have chosen something else. Going on the balcony or having the windows open made me kinda feel like an aquarium fish from 9am until 10pm. The only way to have privacy was to completely shut out any natural light. I was wishing the shudders could raise from the bottom, like many do, but it was the old rolling kind. Also, I know this is a matter of preference and lifestyle, and not the property's fault, but it seems to attract a lot of families with kids. I was lucky enough to be next to the loudest of them this weekend. And if you're not into loud drunk people yelling outside your window until 1am, then you may want to avoid this spot on the weekends.

I especially liked the decor, it was just gorgeous. I said more than once that I felt as if I was in Hawaii then learned from the staff that the hotel was replicated from a Hawaiian Hotel! The staff was fabulous as was the food.

This is not a complaint but the bed was a bit soft for us. Not so bad that we didn't sleep well, just not firm enough for our liking. Again, not a complaint, but it would have been nice if the pool was outdoors, but there's a pool!

You can't beat the view from the only hotel in Sooke. Located right on the harbour, it's a first class hotel which ensures you are treated well. The lady at the Island Tarts Cafe is absolutely delightful and made our visit by noticing that my 7 year old grandson had a loose front tooth. She mentioned that she was also a dental hygienist and could get that tooth out with a little tug. Every morning that we saw her there, she had such positive energy and was so engaging. People really do make the experience. Also, if you chose to not have your room serviced, you were given a $10 restaurant coupon for 'going green'. That was an unexpected bonus!

Was going to take my grandson swimming on our last morning; we went down to the pool and found out with a sign on the door that the pool is closed Wednesday's for cleaning. Not impressed that this wasn't identified anywhere else on either the in-room QR code scanner used to provide details on the amenities onsite or mentioned upon check-in. I did suggest to reception and the representative said that was a good idea. I hope they make that update. A little bit of a downer at the end of our visit.
