We admired the old building with its wide plank floors. I loved the veranda (available for all guests of the auberge to use.) It is large, well maintained, and provides a great view since it is on the second floor (which is the first floor of the auberge). Being covered, it is shady and is protected from the rain. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Even the owners' dog was delightful and enjoyed being patted. The common room with 2 small refrigerators for guest use, a coffee maker, kettle, microwave, tables and chairs is a great convenience. The restaurant downstairs serves generous quantities of very tasty food from 11:30 onwards and has a back patio which was enjoyed by many. (There are 2 very good breakfast options within easy walking distance of the auberge.)

There is (unavoidable) traffic noise on the upstairs veranda since the auberge is located at a main intersection. Having a great view of the activities on the street below and being an easy walk from most places we wanted to go more than made up for the noise.

The location was very good for our purposes. We were there to see the Louise Penny Three Pines area and this hotel was a perfect location.

My bed was squeaky; while the hotel is "historic" is seemed a bit on the 'shabby' side; there are DIFFICULT steep stairs to get to the hotel on floor 2 of the building, had to haul luggage up and down (and my friends were given a room on the 3rd floor!!) There is no breakfast offered as "there are many close options serving breakfast" but this was not really true as many walkable breakfast places were closed during our stay. The hotel offers coffee but issues guests ONE Keurig pod per person at the beginning of the stay.

Spacious twin room for my sister and I. Though breakfast is not provided there was a comfortable coffee room with fresh fruit. The hostess was friendly and lovely. Good location for our goals to visit the museum (walking distance) and nearby location of where some of our ancestors came to Canada after the American Revolution.

The dining room is not open Mondays and Tuesdays. I do take some responsibility for not checking in advance. The other options for dinner was not within walking distance but a drive to the outskirts.

Cute. Very comfortable bed and hot shower. Lovely second-floor common porch. Service was warm and friendly.

This is a very old building with some of the limitations that come with that. The rooms were up a rather steep staircase with no elevator and were smaller than we’re accustomed to today. On the other hand, that comes with the charm.

We stayed at the Knowlton because we wanted a friendly, warm hotel in the middle of the village. We were following the path of Inspector Gamache in the Louis Penny 3 Pines books. It was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the room easily handled the twin and single beds. We were on the second story of the building on the main corner of downtown so we got to watch people laughing and walking their dogs. The restaurant downstairs is wonderful. We had mussels the first night and onion soup the second. Top notch food and excellent service. Everything about the place said warmth and comfort and home. We loved our stay.

Everything was great.

My husband and I were visiting the Eastern Townships of Quebec for the week and the Auberge Knowlton was our home base. It is the longest continously operating inn in the area, originally an 1849 stagecoach inn. We loved the mix of historical and modern comforts. The owners and staff were welcoming and the inn's very polite border collie, Charlie, was a bonus. Guests also receive a discount for dinner each night downstairs at the bistro/restaurant. Every meal (dinners and breakfast) that we had there did not disappoint! The Auberge is located in an ideal location for walkability around the village.

It wasn't an issue for us, we were there because of the historical factor and knew ahead of time, but travelers with mobility issues should be aware that the Auberge is located up a flight of stairs and there is not an elevator.

Nice historic inn, well situated within walking distance of several businesses (bookstores, antique shops, restaurants). Staff was welcoming and accommodating, the room was clean and well furnished. We liked our stay in Knowlton and will likely be back!

Our stay was during a heat wave and so we welcomed the air conditioned room! However, the A/C unit was very loud and turning it off was not an option...

I arrived late. Started to unload my baggage. A gentleman came to my assistance and carried the baggage up three flights of stair. We had a cheerful conversation. In the morning two wonderful ladies helped me load my car. Room was cozy and very clean. I loved the cheeriness and the welcoming attitude of the staff. Very central. Good base to see the town.

Stairs a bit challenging.

The Auberge is central to all of this small village. The restaurant serves excellent food. Breakfast of coffees and scones/croissants can be had at the Three Pines in the basement of the bookstore. The bookstore focuses on Louise Penny and her books, because she lives nearby.

It is centrally located in Knowlton making it convenient to visit shops, restaurants & key sites in Lac Brome. The staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The room was spotless & comfortable. The restaurant is located on the street level & accessible from inside the hotel.
