We stayed for 13 nights and communication was flawless (we're Mandarin speakers). Our room was always tidy and the bed comfortable. We took breakfasts half the time and it was a really good buffet with mixed Chinese (in majority) and Western cuisines. WIFI worked fine as well. Everything that was advertised was available (clean towels, hair dryer, electric kettle, tea&coffee bags, water bottles, shampoo, lotion...)

1. We had a small issue with payment at the end. We chose to split the bill in 2 i.e. paying after about 8 days but for some reason the staff got confused during checkout. It turned out ok but a bit stressful 2. TV signal got some annoying interruption every now and then

We had a very pleasant stay during our time in Beijing! The staff were incredibly helpful and made our trip much easier – from booking restaurant reservations and touristic attractions to assisting us with a cancelled train, they truly went above and beyond. The breakfast was also a nice surprise, with some European options available, which we really appreciated. The room was a bit small and made it slightly difficult to open our large suitcases. Overall, we had a great experience and felt well taken care of throughout our stay. Thank you!

Great location, close to multiple bus and train stations. Breakfast was good, there were many options including fresh fruit and steamed buns and rice porridge. Staff was friendly, even though the front desk speaks English they let me practice my Mandarin.

For laundry they actually have to send it to a laundromat to get done and it's quite expensive so if you're staying for a while I'd recommend bringing soap and hand washing. Also, the wifi was very very spotty, I could rarely get a good connection.

This is a heritage property and restored with modern facility. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy. You need to use your access card to use the lift while going up....but can use without if going down. The rooms are large, spacious and well stocked. The layout of the room itself was interesting. Bathroom/washroom was cleaned everyday. Linen was clean and changed everyday. Complementary water bottles (2x 1/2 liter) was replenished everyday. Coffee and tea sachet was replenished everyday. The buffet breakfast (included both western and chinese) was great and had a wide variety in terms of non-veg, veg, fresh fruit cuts, juices, coffee, milk and bakery items. You could also ask the chef to make a custom breakfast if you can speak Chinese. The staff were all very polite and helpful. The location was in midst of residential apartments and restaurants, so it was always easy to just walk and explore them.

Getting a Taxi if you are not having the Chinese Taxi app could be a cumbersome job, although the security personnel helped me everyday to catch one.

The staff is always very nice and willing to help. The room was large and confortable as well as the bathroom. Breakfast is mainly Chinese but you also can find few stuffs like bread if you prefer.

Staff mainly speaks Chinese, just a bit of English which was challenging for some guest that were making check-in at the same time as I was and that didn’t speak Chinese. Breakfast is served from 7am which is a bit late when you’re working and need to leave early.

There is a lot to like about this property. I visit Shanghai quite often and this is my first choice for a stay. The location is very convenient. The neighbourhood is fantastic and it is away from touristy hustle bustle of Nanjing Road, yet close enough to be accessed with convenience. This time somehow I loved it even more. Breakfast was fantastic as well. Staff is courteous and I just love the rooms there.

Good central location, comfortable clean room and a great breakfast. It was also nice that there was a gym that could be used.

It would have been nice to have known during the booking process that the room had no windows. The pictures should no windows but we assumed that the room would have windows as we didn’t read anything explicitly stating the contrary. The temperature control on the air conditioning was also defective.

This is my first choice for a number of years whenever I visit Shanghai. The room size, decor and amenities are very satisfactory. Breakfast is decent. Location is convenient. Overall, it suits my needs.

There could be more lighting on ceiling in the middle of the room.

Rooms very superb and very comfortable and quiet, considering its location. Breakfast was very good with a great choice. A very well priced and acceptable hotel

It's not a criticism, but the front desk staff don't really speak much English, so you really need to check Google Translate with them. They couldn't have been more helpful, but the language was a challenge - be prepared but don't be put off - the Ultra Sassy Suites were excellent.

This has been a favourite of mine ever since I discovered this gem. I love the modern decor, room comfort, facilities and not to mention the very convenient Japanese washing toilet seat. I returned to Shanghai after 3.5 years(thanks for Covid19) and I was so pleased to find that Metropolo only got better, thankfully. I would like to mention how courteous and generous the staff were this time. Esp this lady and this gentlemen(unfortunately I can't remember the names) who were on duty on 24-25 of June. It is a perfect location, close to everything yet have this calmness and charm. Definitely i will be coming to back to my favourite place to relax in Shanghai.

to be honest it is hard to find any flaws. Air conditioning needs to be adjusted but that's not a major issue, overall it was working fine.
