Yangshuo Sugar House is a truly unique hotel with a blend of modern design and rich history, set in an old sugar mill against the breathtaking karst mountains and Li River. The stylish architecture, attentive staff, and delicious breakfast options made our stay feel special. The serene surroundings and easy access to beautiful nature were perfect for exploring or just unwinding. Overall, it’s a one of a kind place with stunning views and great service; a wonderful choice for design lovers and nature enthusiasts alike!

One minor issue was the street noise at night; our room door didn’t fully block it out, which made it hard to enjoy the quiet atmosphere fully.

excellent hotel - rooms were spacious, facilities were new/well-maintained, food was solid (they have yangshuo local foods too), the lobby staff were very helpful and friendly (special shout out to Sarah!). the hotel also includes complimentary (1) 2 free drinks, (2) photoshoot - 5 photos free, the rest were RMB 80 per photo, (3) hotel tour. Sugarhouse also has several fun activities to choose from such as rock climbing (in the hotel premise), syrup making, candle making - making the stay super special!

staff did have 1 miscommunication mishap on the booking of activities but all sorted. not all staff will speak fluent English (e.g. some of the restaurant dinner staff did not speak a lot of English)

The hotel is located in a very beautiful part of Yangshuo, really charming with exceptional view of the river. We had a great time at the Sugar House. All of the staff were helpful and friendly, particularly Sarah, who went out of her way to help us in organizing driver and booking trips and activities that we wanted to go on. The restaurant is excellently decorated, food in both breakfast, and dinner is truly delicious. We had booked half board, the chef has provided us with different set menu each evening, showcasing Guangxi cuisine, and some dishes are exceptional. The redesign of a an old sugar factory as a hotel has been realized extremely well, bringing contemporary post modernist design to a beautiful setting in the Yangshuo landscape. Highly recommended as a place to stay for exploring the amazing Yangshuo landscape.

We spent 2 weeks in China, staying in 5 different hotels and this was my teenage daughters' favourite hotel. Loved the atmosphere at the hotel, the modern design and the historical buildings mixed together. The rooms were nice, spacious and clean. The location great - away from the busy town. Staff were friendly. Restaurant and the bar were good. Good breakfast. Spa excellent.

If to be very critical - the restaurant and the bar did not always have all the items on the menu, the bar in particular did not have a lot of the snack items on the menu.

The hotel arquitecture and design are unique. It is an exceptional place full of details. The view from the swimming pool looks like a painting. The personal is very friendly and attentive, the only drawback ( as it happens often in China) is the language, they barely speak English. The food is very good,the Chinese as well as the western. They offer many in house activities.including a photo session!It is hard to leave the hotel! I recommend it a 100%!!!

Loved the design of the property, the staff were all super helpful and loved the property. Food was excellent too, and Tom the bartender makes the best Espresso Martini's. Shout out to Cindy the front office manager who is a delight and to her colleague Peter also super, everyone was just don't know everyones name. We had a great time on the river bamboo rafting, loved the evening Impression Show, enjoyed West Street albeit touristy was fun to wander. Looking forward to a return visit, maybe NYE 2025!

AURUÁ how it's originally called stands on amazing property. Formally was sugar factory. Amazing surroundings with exceptional details. The room had a nice view, just the right size for two. The only bad thing about the room is the installation for the air conditioner. In fact, you can hear the traffic that is next to the hotel through it (especially in the evening when it's quiet). Otherwise nice.

Given the previous reviews on Booking.com, we hesitated to book the Sugar House due to its relatively low rating. However, after comparing it with other sites that showed excellent reviews, we realized there might have been a discrepancy. When our guide in Shanghai confirmed that it was the best option in Yangshuo, we decided to book it, and we were definitely right. It is an amazing place with good services and a great setting. The hotel has been meticulously refurbished with strong artistic feel; it was part of the Alila Hotels until recently. Although it's a shame that it is no longer part of Alila, the standards are still very high. The staff, like elsewhere in China, struggles with English, and yes, the standard and deluxe rooms are a bit noisy due to their proximity to the main road, but it's nothing to worry about. The hotel is a unique structure set in absolutely stunning natural surroundings with amazing cuisine and hardworking staff. The spa is an absolute must. We have traveled extensively, and this is definitely one of the most unique places we've ever been.

Oh my. We were transported into the borders of a postcard. Seriously this place is beyond beautiful. The food, the pool , the rooms every direction the eye can see is a pleasure. I knew it would be special but was literally left speechless by the beauty on arrival. So devastated to have to leave and so looking forward to the day we return .

Good selection of food, particularly Chinese menu. Location was amazingly picturesque , a truly unique hotel, immaculately designed - made for photos. Easy to get around with hotel cars or Didi. Rooms were a good size and well cleaned and maintained. Beautiful spa and great service.

Very minor quibble but majority of staff appeared to speak little or no English. We got by as we had some basic Chinese in our group but some conversations were a little tricky
