Exceeded expectations and that’s saying a lot as the photos, reviews and price tag all set that bar pretty high to begin with. We felt the safest we’ve felt in Colombia here, in the huge secure compound/area. We never once felt remotely unsafe which in Colombia (especially Cartagena) is refreshing, with no vendors pestering. You can easily leave your things on the beach and do anything knowing all is well. The 5 sets of pools offer a plethora of different options based on what you want/vibe each with different views and experiences. The beach is fantastically beautiful and offers a relatively long walk to the jetty for more views. There was always free beds and chairs when we were there, perhaps as few as 20% were being used at any one time during our stay which really gave the feeling of having the beach to ourselves. There’s a bit of wildlife too, mostly in the form of iguanas around the site and vultures that perch on buildings and other birds. They also offer plenty of fun activities on offer from the hotel including surfing and efoiling. The 4 restaurants offer a diverse selection of cuisines and levels of formality. We ate at 3 of them and found all to be of excellent standard. The gym & the daily free classes were a highlight for us. We routinely did the circuits class before a run each day. The equipment is all new (or appeared so) and top of the line with all the amenities you’d expect. The machines are always cleaned, stocks with towels and fresh bottles of water by the staff and the only downside was just that there are only 2 treadmills. They also added nice touches, with the rooms cleaned twice a day the evening clean included treats, hand written notes and the most comfortable eye mask I have. Additionally, each day there are treats that go round in the afternoon, ours was mostly fresh fruits or small drinks. Overall, this is an amazing place to stay and reminded us a lot of the TV show “White Lotus” without the murder 😂

The only negative is outside the hotels control, but it’s quite hard to get to the Sofitel. The roads (maintained by the government) in the final 20m approach are extreamly bad/off-road and are a little scary if dark. The hotel taxi transfer minimises the time on this paths with a longer (but safer) route in a large 4x4. They also offer 2 options by sea.

This hotel is simply amazing. Everything works, the staff is great, everyone greets you with a smile, and the venue and location are 10/10. Our room was large enough, with a super-king bed. We were traveling with our kids (4 and 2 years old), and they added a bed at no extra cost. The kids' villa (or kids' club) was also great for the kids, they enjoyed every minute there. There was always someone there to help you. Would 100% stay again.

The beach is not as pristine as Aruba, or other Caribbean beaches. The sand is not soft and it feels a bit artificial (which I guess is partially artificial). There are tons of dead corals and rocks when entering/exiting the water so it hurts sometimes. I understand this is not an all-inclusive resort (which I like), but I think breakfast should be included with every rate.

Very safe place. Nice large CLEAN room, everything works, very comfortable bed. The staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond to accommodate your needs. SPA service is excellent! Pools and pool areas are clean. Great breakfast with tons of delicious choices. I have to say HUMO - is absolutely a must go restaurant!!! When we tried it the first time, it became the only place we would go for dinner! TOP NOTCH!!!! food art deliciousness!!!! Thank you!

Not any evening entertainment like we hoped there would be

Facilities are great, rooms very comfortable and staff extremely kind, attentive and professional. Service on the beach is fabolous with many complementary juices and fruit offerings. Quality of the food is high, highly recommend the Caribbean restaurant (Bahia).

The beach is beautiful, but the sea sometimes not extremely transparent / turquoise, and not for snorkeling. Restaurant prices are a bit too high, at par with some of the fine dining spots in Cartagena.

The breakfast buffet, the amount pools and chairs, how secluded the property is. They arranged our transportation from our hotel in Getsemani and then back to the airport. They take high care of the property as well as maintained the beach. The kids club! We sent our 4 year old to the kids club while our 2 year old napped so us parents had some quiet time on the patio of our room. He was well taken care of and supervised for 2 hours - there were no issues. They even made him a little crab with a letter to take home. A great place to stay with families!

Calablanca is the perfect place to take some time off. The property has everything to ensure a pleasant stay. The amenities are spot on, and the beach and restaurant are simple yet charming.

I believe the rates are fair considering the comfort the resort offers. However, adding extra charges at checkout feels excessive and a bit uncomfortable. Another improvement could be offering transportation at a reasonable fee, as the prices are quite high when booked through the resort.

Sofitel is a magical place, tucked away in its own little sanctuary. The staff was excellent and went above and beyond for any accommodations. The views, food, and amenities were all amazing. The only issue is that the drive to Sofitel is a bit rough as there are some unpaved roads.

Very dilapidated state of road leading to this resort. You are 'locked' away from the rest of the world. It takes almost 2 hours from the Airport to resort because of the bad state of the road! Not a lot of night entertainment.

Incredible in every aspect : the quality of the rooms, the beach, the staff, the pools, etc etc

The room was freezing cold (18°) when we arrived. We opened the window to get some air in and also to look at the stupendous view from the balcony. Big mistake! It created a condensation like I had never seen before, the whole floor was wet (talking 1cm of water), the walls, the sheets. Luckily the staff changed our room on the 2nd night. The food could be a little better, although it's quite abundant (especially the breakfast)
