The spectacular view from the balcony of the lake and Peñon. Clean. Quiet, on outskirts of town. Friendly staff, Sandra very helpful in arranging tuk-tuk and calling our driver to airport. Close to town, 10 minute walk. Good breakfast, but no variety.

No hangars for clothes. No place to put luggage. Sheets too short for bed. Curtains for privacy only, too sheer to darken the room, so sunlight enters very early. No outlets near bed. No lights next to bed, only overhead light. Thin walls, could hear neighbors. Did not find out until checking out that each additional cup of coffee after our first at breakfast would be charged extra.

La Madriguera was an amazing place to stay—I enjoyed it so much that I extended my visit. The hotel is beautifully located by the lake, just a 10-minute walk from the center of town. The rooms offer stunning views of El Peñol, and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. The breakfast was excellent, and the meals at the on-site restaurant were consistently delicious. A special thanks to Sandra, who was incredibly helpful and made the stay even more enjoyable. I would definitely return and highly recommend it to others.

One small thing to note: the rooms don’t have blackout curtains, so be prepared to wake up early with the morning light.

We stayed in the presidential suite and it's was well worth it. Huge room.and huge bed. Overlooking the lake and with a small grass terrace just for our use it was peaceful and pleasant to sit there in the late afternoon. The room even had 2 chairs (which is rare) so a couple can both have one rather than having to sit in the bed! The breakfast was good and served overlooking the lake. Staff have limited English but can easily make sense of what's being asked with limited Spanish. Hotel location is great, 10 mins walk to town or get a tuktuk for a small amount.

Minor point - Curtains are thin so for those who like dark rooms not for you.

Location was great, within short walking distance to the center of town. Loved Mia the cat, great addition to feeling at home when staying here. Don't worry if allergic, Mia does not come into the rooms. And of course Sandra! She made us feel at home and took care of us. Thought with is on how to make our plans work, booked tours, called motochivas. All in all such a warm person! Good price- accommodation ratio. Shower was very good, warm and big. Will definitely return!

If I really need to mention something, the bed could be a bit softer, but think that just depends on what you are used too. Everything was great!!!

Beautiful location with nature views including the lake and El penol in the distance. The room was clean. The property was well maintained and felt very safe. Breakfast was delicious. And the staff was absolutely wonderful. And for those who are unfamiliar with the town, it is absolutely beautiful and worth your time. I would strongly suggest staying at least one night so you can take your time and enjoy the bright, beautiful streets, friendly people, and beautiful views.

The property is located right on the outskirts of the city centre, making for a quiet property away from the bustle of the town with a very pleasant 5-10 minute walk into town. Breakfast was also nicely done! We had a beautiful view up to El Penol and some of the lake. The rooms were big and Sandra was lovely, providing lots of local advice and helping us with transfers to the airport :)

The bed was a bit hard for our taste but comfortable enough for our one night stay

The location was perfect for us: 10minutes walk to the crowded and noisy main square, next to the lake, basically the hotel can rent you kayaks and you can go into the water from your building, and the view from our room was perfect. The neighborhood was friendly and local, stores in 100 meters

The people are simply amazing, so helpful and kind. We really enjoyed staying at La Madriguera. Also, the food is awesome, they served the best breakfast we had on our whole trip in Colombia, and that with a perfect view on the lake. Really liked the direct entrance to the lake and that you could rent kayaks and there's free water, tea and coffee at the reception. It's a great place to relax out of the more touristy areas, but still be really close to everything in walking distance. Thank you again for the great stay!

The beds are a little uncomfortable and there's not much space to put your things, but totally manageable :)

Great hotel in a fantastic location with a stunning view of the surrounding city and landscape. The incredibly welcoming staff that were always available were very friendly and accommodating, providing recommendations, splendid breakfast, and help with anything that we needed. Shirt walk to the heart of town which provided easy access to restaurants and activities while also providing a fair level of privacy and quiet.

Amazing location! Beautiful view of La Piedra/The Rock. The whole property management team is lovely! Friendly and helpful! It is a quick and easy walk to town, but it is far enough away that it is quiet at the hotel. Highest marks possible for this location! My visit was early December 2024
