This Selina had good vibes, staff and people. Would stay again. Loved the location. It was on the beach and it was fab for stargazing. Saw some shooting stars. Really nice coffee place near by.

They tried to charge for towels for dorm rooms but I was able to get one without paying. Guest should not be paying for towels. Selina charges way too much for extras service - bar, food and tours, even towels. It is a rip-off!

Very nice area, close to the sea, close to the beach. Some days there were monkeys on the tree in the middle of the garden area. The place for yoga/workouts is very nice! Loved it. The room was big enough to fit 6 people, enough space for everyone. I was being cleaned every day :) Beds were very comfy too.

The kitchen could be better equipped (there were days when glasses and forks were totally missing, strainers in very bad condition, etc). More pots would be also nice considering how many people can be there. Considering a price for this place this is something I would expect standard to have. Another thing to consider is that the place is little bit outside of the city (walking distance about 10-15 min) which means also nearest supermarket is about 15 min walking.

The premises are super nicely located. It’s right next to the beach (and even though you may not swim right there) with a nice walk you’re at Cocles Beach. Similarly, you can reach the centre of Puerto Viejo. The staff is welcoming and available most of the day. Highly recommended to rent a bike and go around, 10$ for about 24 hours! The shared bathroom facilities are cleaned and equipped with body shower, shampoo and conditioner. There is also a nice bar and ample room for parking cars.

The premises are overall well taken care of, but the room we stayed in could have benefitted from a deeper cleaning. A down side is the lack of sound isolation between rooms in the “camping area”.

it’s got a lot of good things happening. location, the bar, bar staff was great, rooms were nice & outside town which lets you explore the beach’s beyond puerto Viejo.

cycles are old & expensive. staff not friendly at all, seems like they are doing you a favour vs making you feel welcome. (except the bar - they were really nice) I cxld an experience almost a week in advance, it’s been over a month & I still have not rcvd my refund.

Amazing room with balcony, the staff were extremely helpful especially Mary at reception. We had a private room that was presented extremely well with a TV, coffee machine and fridge. Would 100% stay here again when in Puerto Viejo

An extremely small improvement but I would recommend that the shower screen in our bathroom was sealed against the tiled floor as when you showered the water ran under the glass screen and all over the bathroom floor.

Even though it was a large dorm, others were respectful to keep it quiet. The bathrooms were outside a short walk away. The staff was friendly and the facilities are really nice and relaxing with a large outdoor common area to eat/drink and a platform to do yoga. My favorite part of the stay was sitting in a hammock by the beach and watching the waves. I met quite a few people who were working remotely from here.

I wish the bunk bed had curtains. It's always nice to have that little extra layer of privacy. As for the location even though the hostel had a nice private beach, it was removed from the town. For women, it wasn't safe to walk home at night so I ended up eating dinner almost every night at the hostel. It would be nice to be a little closer in.

Selina is a good place to make friends at; welcome drink, WhatsApp group, good kitchen, lots of activities, etc. The key on the wrist is great cause you never forget it. The restaurant food is great. The pool is good. The showers have body wash, shampoo and conditioner.

The fridges could use more regular cleanings, they smelled bad. The teepee tent was a hot, I would've loved a bigger fan or two of the fan they have.

The layout, the offerings, the restaurant had expensive, but tasty options and the staff was super friendly. It’s very well located. Professionally managed with sweet hospitality.

In our room we had issues with dripping water from the shower head. The fix for that was to shut off the warm water. Which one would you rather pay to experience?

It’s really close to the main beach in Puerto Viejo. They had good activities available and a good workout space that you can use at any time. The staff were super nice and helpful. The rooms are nice, well set up as Selina’s always are.

It wasn’t the most social hostel. I found it harder to meet people here. The food and drinks from the bar are quite expensive. And it’s a 10 min walk out of town, absolutely fine in the day, but you may not be comfortable with it at night if you’re a single woman.

Staff was helpful and kind, swimming pool and restaurant were amazing and my free included breakfast was good,, and waking up to sit on the beach and watch the waves everyday was lovely.

Kitchen didn't have a microwave. Have to take a tuktuk for 2000 colones anytime you want to go into town, not safe to walk to/from at night. Chair in our room was broken
