Beachfront property is at a premium in Puerto Viejo. A good majority of the hotels are across the street from the beach. So I really appreciated the benefit of waking up to the water and hearing it. We stayed on the upstairs room so had a hammock, with for me is bliss. The ground floor rooms don't have the hammocks. The property is well kept and the fauna and animals are wonderful to observe.

The variety of breakfast could use some swapping out if staying more than 3 days. While I liked hanging by the pool, there wasn't a place to sit provided by the hotel to hang by the beach.

Grounds were tropical and private beachfront. Able to see monkeys and sloths in nearby trees, toucans and other wildlife! Staff brings breakfast each morning to your room. , nice restaurant and bar on property, town is just a few minute drive :)

Poor WiFi but staff was very helpful and offered space near front office with better reception. Also, there is an Internet cafe/BOA-coworking space-above the Green Jaguar- a few minutes away. And, bed was not that comfortable - a mattress pad and a countertop burner/cooktop would have been a nice addition to the “kitchen”.

I have stayed here several times and I am always very happy. The staff is always very welcoming and happy to help with anything you need. My 8-year-old son and I stayed this time. The room and bed are very spacious. The bed is a king and there is also a twin bed in the corner as well. Some hotels in Puerto Viejo claim to be "beachfront" but there are actually only a few that are. Villas del Carbe is one of them. You can walk right off your back patio into the ocean less than 50ft away.

Breakfast used to be served at the onsite restaurant. Not sure what happened but now it is served in your room. The room has a little table with 2 chairs so it's not a big deal but after a few days, it does wear on you. The second suggestion would be to expand the breakfast menu a little. They have 3 options and you can only pick one, Eggs with beans and rice, 2. pancakes (nothing else with it) and the 3rd is like a vegetarian option. They are all very good but again after a few days it would be nice to have a few other options.

Location was ideal, right on a beautiful beach. The attention to details was so obvious. One of the few hotels of this type where your included breakfast was delivered to your room during your stay. The grounds of the hotel are stunning beautiful, complete with visits from local families of monkeys, sloths and toucan. The staff was really friendly and attentive to our every need. All of the above made for a wonderful stay and visit to the area.

The room with the balcony and garden view is simply perfect, so much wildlife you can see from there. During our stay we enjoyed bird watching, we also saw a couple of sloths, frogs and so much more. The breakfast is super good, they offer three options for breakfast. There’s coffee available 24/7 at the reception. The beach is so clean, peaceful, secluded. We love villas del caribe, try to go there at least one a year. My favorite place in the Caribbean

We've loved the location of this place! It is right on the ocean and has extremely beautiful landscaping between the room and the ocean. Our room had an unobstructed view of the ocean and we loved hearing the ocean waves. The pool area is very nice. Just be careful as there are lots of ants as there are everywhere in Costa Rica. The bathroom shower is to die for. The kitchenette covers the basics with a coffee maker, toaster oven and refrigerator. The a/c and hot water worked great. The staff are very friendly. Please be advised there are no small mini markets or super markets in the area so bring what you need with you in terms of drinks and food.

The wifi wasn't very strong in our room, but we were the farthest away from the reception area. It works excellent in the reception area.

Fantastic location at the beaches (with natural pools), beautiful garden, nice balcony and we saw Tucans from the pool area and Sloves at the car park and ....and...and. Lovely staff. We had a great stay.

Room a little bit dated and "breakfast in the room" instead of in the beautiful garden or restaurant area isn't that great.

The grounds were absolutely stunning with the Caribbean in the background! We sat for over 30 minutes one afternoon watching a family if at least 6 monkeys eat and play. One was a tiny baby, still mostly riding her momma's back. Another day, we watched for quite some time, a sloth working his way down a tree in the parking lot. I got pictures of him looking directly into the camera!

The facility is older and the bed was really firm. If one likes firm, then they'll love this bed! They deliver a breakfast to you daily which is nice except when it arrives at 730 am! Wefinally just asked them not to deliver breakfast which was better.

Second stay at VDC. Love the breakfast brought daily to your room. Location is great with nice beach walks in either direction. Lots of wildlife to see on the property.

There was lots of wildlife right on the property. They had free coffee on all the time. Pool was very nice

The beds were hard. Lots of ants by the pool m. We got quite a few bites. Beach is rocky, can’t swim there.
