The location was great, barely 2 minutes walk from the beach. The pool area was very nice, and I enjoyed hanging out in the courtyard, where there were tables and hammocks. I also enjoyed seeing all the signs previous guests had painted, and I added one of my own! The women’s only room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, especially for a hostel, with a good bathroom, regular cleaning by staff, and good air conditioning.

There was some loud music and bar noise on Friday and Saturday nights from the bar next to us, plus some very talkative chickens in the early hours of the morning, so I’d recommend bringing earplugs to sleep, but I was still fine, the music wasn’t excessive or all night. The only other thing I noticed was the few outlets, which wasn’t an issue with just a couple people in the room, but would have been a pain with all six beds filled.

This place is in a wonderful location and affordable. The pool is nice and the Breakfast tipico is really good. The rooms are small and ours specifically didn't get internet, so we had to go out of the room for that. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. I feel safe there. It has a shared kitchen, which always seemed clean, and they sell beer, water and tea. The staff is super friendly and always available to help. And although the restaurant is separate, they all work together to make sure everyone is taken care of. It isn't a 5 star hotel but it is a great place for family, work-cation. 2 min walk from the beach.

I do wish the beds were a bit more comfortable and the fan was more in a location where we could feel it when we laid on the bed. I also wish that the internet worked in the room. There was no TV, which is fine for me, but others may want to be sure to ask for what they want in the room before booking. All the rooms are different: some have AC and TV others are just beds and a bath.

Booked the place for the location and because it was one of only 2 in town accepting credit cards but was pleasantly surprised and extended for a week. Rooms were dark and somewhat dated (but, e.g., while my AC was very old, saw the room next door have a brand new one so they may be upgrading things) and the kitchen, although well-equipped, a total mess in grave need of some food marking/scheduled disposal practices. Still, the property overall was amazing – very friendly and efficient staff, big pool with multiple lounge chairs, on-site restaurant with great food (and music), and a bar with different events every night but far enough to keep the rooms quiet.

We have stayed here every year sometimes twice a year for at least 6 or 7 years, we love it, the rooms are fairly basic but it has all you need. Great Vibe and super location.

On our last night a busload of very noisy inconsiderate people from San Jose arrived at 4.30 am. Its hard for the Hotel to control that but there is a noise ordinance posted.

Proximity to beach In town. Easy walk to all basic needs and beach.

Other "boomer" Americans acting badly. I observed an ugly American angrily demanding (1)"English only" (2) a lower price, (3) special service Blue Iguana staff helped her with grace and politeness.

Loved the proximity to the beach, and that we could walk to lots of restaurants and shops. The little pool was very nice for cooling off after a hot day, and the breakfast was great. The ambiance was a bit like a hostel, but clean and comfortable. Friendly staff, laundry available and a community kitchen .

No hot water.

We had a really nice stay at Blue Iguana, I loved the vibes of the hostel and there was also a pool & bar with live music.

The volunteers at the reception didn‘t really know anything about the place, they couldn‘t answer to any of our questions for example about the beaches nearby or the rentals of surfboards etc. Also there was no A/C so the room got veeeery hot to sleep

The location is really nice! Close to the beach and nice chill out area at the hostel. Our room (Economy Room) was very small. For 2 nights ok but for a longer stay you should book a bigger room. The restaurant is nice. Samara Beach is one of the best beaches from Costa Rica. Very beautiful and you can surf (5$ a board per hour)! You should bring a hammock for the beach. Best Thing Ever!

The Economy Room is very small. It would be nice to put free towels for this room.

The staff were friendly from the beginning . It’s like a hotel/ Hostel. The owner and the reception presented themselves excellent.Well be back again .

The kitchen just a little bigger . ..but other then that we enjoyed our stay
