Melrose Hotel was a last minute booking when another lodging didn't work out. The price was quite reasonable and I consider the hotel to be not all the frills but full of character and a wonderful staff. Rooms were small but we adjusted; beds comfortable and rooms cleaned each day. One big plus for us was that the hotel is away from the hustle of the busy areas like around the Central Station, yet easy to walk into central areas when desired. There are several good restaurants nearby including a lovely cafe only steps from the hotel entrance. Go for the reasonable pricing, stay for the enjoyable staff and location.

The room designs with the sink outside of the bath/toilet area was a little inconvenient but manageable.

The location is unbeatable, making it easy to explore Amsterdam. The staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure a great stay. The rooms are spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained, with top-notch service that never disappoints. Every stay here has been an absolute pleasure—Melrose Hotel is the best place to stay in Amsterdam! Highly recommended, and I can’t wait to return.

We had an unintentional night stop in Amsterdam due to weather/snow closure at Schipol airport. Even though it was very late around 23.30 when we booked the Melrose hotel, it wasn't a problem as they're open 24/7. On arrival at the hotel, the friendly manager quickly sorted out the rooms for us. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very quiet. We had a good nights sleep, ready for our onward travel the next morning.

Very central location, big room-clean and comfortable.

For a family room with 4 of us, there was barely anywhere to store clothing which meant living out of our cases for the 4 nights. Also only one mirror which was behind the sink so not full length.

The bed was very comfy and the hotel staff was helpful. It was easy to get to from the airport.

There was a bit of mold in the shower area that could use attention.

The room was in the basement, there was a damp smell and the windows didn't open. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Brilliant location, very close to the city centre. A lot of shops on same road as Melrose which is handy.

The hotel is conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from Dam Square, with a pleasant route passing by numerous shops and eateries along the way.

The hotel is quite basic, and the room was somewhat cold as the heating system didn’t function properly.

The location was perfect, so handy to walk to all the main attractions but also only a short distance from the game am stops too! It was very clean and the staff were really friendly!

Nothing that I really disliked but the generator did seem to make some peculiar noises at night which wasn’t ideal if you’re a light sleeper!
