One word: STUNNING The location was stunning with distant Mountain View’s and a magnificent hill top medieval castle in the foreground. Everything exceeded our expectations The staff were superb, the food excellent,the beds and pillows as comfortable as you could get. The pool and surroundings were first class. This is a somewhat rarely visited area of Spain. If like us, you are driving to Portugal, don’t miss this hotel 6* rating for Barcelo. As you will see from my previous posts we are well travelled throughout the World and don’t give such effusive comments easily!

You can't fault the location in terms of views and the hotel is clean and bright. The restaurant took advantage of the views and was well organised with a plentiful supply at breakfast time, and the staff were polite and efficient.

Probably not the hotel's fault but there was a recurring smell of drains. I found the shower quite difficult to operate and had to ask at reception for a plug for the bath. Climbing in and out of the bath was not easy due to the positioning of the shower screen, which did not swing back. I did enjoy my stay but the hotel lies on a busy road, which it was necessary to cross to get into town.

Being in a separate self-catering villa, we didn't use the facilities or meals in the main hotel. But it was clean and well appointed, with a nice private seating area. The area is wonderful for walking and we'd very happily go back there. Also loved the town centre which is a 10 minute walk away.

A few more things in the kitchen would have been helpful - basic utensils like a grater/peeler, but we were able to make do with what we had.

The views of Aracena from the hotel were superb and provided a scenic backdrop whether for coffee or pre-dinner drinks. We stayed in a 1-bed villa for 2 nights which provided an oasis of calm and relaxation on the edge of nature. The staff at the hotel were professional, friendly and always helpful, a real asset to our stay.

Despite the weather being warm and sunny, the outdoor pool was closed; a real shame as the views from the pool were fantastic and it would have been a relaxing swim. If you wanted to swim, you had to pay to use the spa pool which I thought was unfair.

Perfect place for a holiday with children. We stayed in a 2-bedroom villa for 6 nights and I wish we stayed longer. All necessary amenities were there. Place was quiet and food delicious. Swimming pool was very big and always empty during siesta hours. There were always sun umbrellas for everyone. Staff were very nice. Gym is big and with a lot of equipment.

Nothing I didn’t like, just a suggestion to incorporate an oven and a dinning table in the villas.

We didn’t have the breakfast. Drinks were great and well priced. We had dinner, staff was great, meal was good but slightly on the high side for what we had. Location is great if you are just seeking some down time and relaxing time, pool was fantastic. Not much to do in the town.

The restaurant menu was slightly high in pricing and could be a bit more varied.

The hotel is set in an enviable position overlooking the town below and the castle, which is especially stunning at night. The hotel is really nice with staff at reception being helpful after a misunderstanding by them with my booking where my view was spoilt by the carpark. They offered to move me and gave me a free bottle of Cava as an apology. The spa staff were amazing despite the spa facilities not fully working due to a malfunction, but they reduced the price of our 1-hour booking to make up for it. Breakfast was high quality, and the staff were engaging and professional. The pool area was immaculate, but be aware that you will need tokens from reception to get a towel, which we were not informed of. The caves and castle are worth a visit if you have time. A top tip from another contributor was to visit on your day of checkout at 10.30 a.m., and you will be back at the hotel in time to check out at 12, visit the castle the evening before and watch the sunset before walking down to the town for dinner

Not being given any hotel orientation or explanation of facilities or the local area other than breakfast time and location. We did, however, stumble across a QR code on our bathroom mirror for the generic hotel chain. Only being allowed 1hr in the spa area because it just flies by. The gastro pub is nothing of the sort.. the food was terrible, and the service was nothing short of insulting. We did not eat or drink in the hotel again apart from breakfast and took the short walk into town instead. We did complain to reception, who said they would let them know which personally doesn't help on wasting my money and having to go hungry. Please read the other reviews regarding the gastro pub. The majority are similar to my experience. I wish I had read them first 😔

Large, well appointed room with lots of storage, great views of the town, comfortable bed and pillows, large bathroom with separate w.c. Breakfast options were great. Free motorcycle parking on level ground opposite the front doors.

We requested a late check-out, maybe an hour, but the only option was an extra €20 for four hours. FYI, if you walk into town to do the 10:30 am cave tour, you can complete it and get back to the hotel with enough time to change or finish packing before noon. The hotel did allow us to store our motorcycle gear and luggage by reception, and as we did not have to rush back for a set check-out time, we were able to wander around town a bit. We skipped the castle though, as it did not open until 12:00.

Very nice hotel, good view over the city and surrounding landscape.

Nothing available to eat, not even a snack in the bar before 8pm. No ventilation in the room, excellent windows/doors that reduces noise so it's very quiet, which is good. However, due to the lack of ventilation we needed to open the window during the night to let fresh air in.

Usually we have simple rooms but this was luxury. The views over the town (from the pool terrace) and the mountains (from our room) were great.

The hotel is just outside of the center of Aracena. To get there by foot, what we like to do, one needs to cross a big road. The walk is only 10 minutes though.
