Brilliant location.. next to Paradores (visit their terrace to see the sunset). Spectacular. The room is very large, rustic style. We had one heater in the room (in January it is chilly- so a light down jacket is recommended - actually everywhere on the island in the evening). There is a tiny basic kitchen the bathroom was newly done and fresh. There is a restaurant at the property that was very good albeit simple. Be aware of opening hours. The Parador seems to have an excellent choice on their menu, not excessively expensive but the Refugio is cheaper.

Cold in the room (I was prepared but my partner was sick and froze. The personnel could be better informed on how to access the Roque Nuble, although you kind of figure it out when driving up.

Thank you, Ivan and team. What a perfect, relaxing getaway I had at Hotel Rural el Refugio! Everything was perfect, the suite room was huge and had everything I needed to relax, Cook, make coffee which we provided etc. Heater was great for cozy evenings. There was a lovely terrace outside my room where I enjoyed coffee every morning. The hotel is so tranquil, the pool was beautiful and so peaceful. You are literally right on 2 hiking trails so no need to travel to the trails. I hiked everyday to watch the sunset not far from the hotel. The views are spectacular! The best part about my stay was the outstanding hospitality from Ivan and his staff. I felt so welcome and it really was the highlight of my time in gran canaria. Thank you!!!

Fantastic location for hiking trails with breathtaking views. The room was comfortable, clean with a decent hot shower which was welcome after a day on the trails. The communal area with free tea and coffee all day is a lovely touch and ideal place to read and take in the views. I also loved the easy to use vending machine for snacks and beer/wine. The food in the restaurant is also excellent so make sure to book a table for dinner.

First of all thanks for the weekend, we realy enjoyed the property and the area. Then, the weather was not the best, foggy, cold, rainy,... (Nothing to blame for the property) But we missed that they started the chimney. But for that everything else was perfect. Note: maybe puffy bed covers (ikea style) would have made the bed more comfortable? Appart from that all perfect. ALSO we would like to highlight the dinner, omg

While lovely and great value for money the hotel was a little more rustic than i had bargained for but as i was staying alone it was nothing to really complain about.

Superb location with incredible views just outside. Great start point for many hikes. Clean and cosy hotel with a relaxed vibe. Excellent homemade food in the restaurant for dinner. Staff were really nice and helpful. Would 100% stay again.

Room and bathroom was a little basic but absolutely fine for a hiking trip. Pillows a bit hard but not a major issue.

Location excellent for walking etc Staff/management all great - helpful, friendly and professional. Value for money was very good. Comfy bed, hotel had character.

Breakfast could have been better, but was still good! (Only real minor criticism is to put more out buffet-style eg bread and cake etc so people can have more or less without having to ask/waste if they had too much, plus it's less work for the staff) - but service was great as was freshly prepared/served food

Small things like the radiator screen should have some cover since it lights up the room a lot; bathroom floor gets very wet after shower. Price is a bit high for what you get but it is a remote location and high season so it's still reasonable.

Nice hotel in a large old Canarian house. I really liked the style of the place, big common living room with comfortable chairs and books, characteristic old details, sunny roof terrace. I had dinner and breakfast included and both were great, with good vegetarian options. The receptionist was very nice, she even ordered a taxi for me for the next day. Just note that the swimming pool is only open about half of the year, it is mentioned, but I overlooked it myself.

Lovely hot shower, firm comfortable bed. Plentiful breakfast and decent evening dining options. Great views, especially from the salon. Friendly and welcoming staff.

A bit of condensation in rooms but that's owing to the cooler weather. I was a bit cold at night.
