We love Pigal with its pleasnt home atmosphere and very friendly staff. We stayed here second time and spent a great week of our holiday in Tarragona. The hotel is situated in the city center close to the nice Miracle beach and market, shops and restorants. Room is simple wth a convenient bed and a TV, wth a good shower in the bathroom. In the kitchen you can use a refrigerator to keep your food, a kettle to make a tea, to buy a tasty coffee from coffemachine; there're some dishes, and also a shelf with the books - everything what you need for your daily life. This is a good place to meet and communicate with other people. Thanks a lot, Pigal!

We loved our hotel owners, Xabi and his gracious wife who were both very accommodating, knowledgeable and great hosts. Both the young gentlemen who manned the desks were equally helpful and kind. The staff were very good and always greeted us with lovely smiles and were eager to help where they could. The venue was in a great position. Close to the centre, close to the beach, the train station and an 8- min walk to the bus terminal. What more can one ask for? As for this small personable hotel - It has an eclectic mixture of antique furniture and shabby chic pieces with a huge Roman centurion standing in the dining room with a huge welcoming smile. The facilities are really exceptional. Residents are encouraged to bring their meals to the dining room tables where the hotel offers all crockery, cutlery, microwave, toaster, kettle, tea on tap, a great coffee vending machine (yep, only €1 for a capuccino!) and a soft drinks and beer vending machine as well. Residents can use a space in the large refridgerator to keep their food and use stickers for them to mark their food parcels. No, no need to wash your plates either...just leave them in a tray for a hotel staff to wash. Happiness is... We loved our 11-night stay at this cute, eccentric hotel in the hart of Tarragona and we found it to be very reasonable and believe me...it had a hart! We recomend this without reservtion and will happily go back to stay again!

Pigal is just a 5-minute walk from the railway station [a warning when booking a ticket to Tarragona select your destination as estacion Tarragona not estacion Camp de Tarragona, as this is for the high-speed service, which is about a 30 minute bus journey away from the centre of town.], and about 15 minutes from the bus station. What I particularly liked about Pigal was the check-in time of 12:30 - very convenient. The owners were friendly as were the cleaning staff. There is a common area where guests can have hot beverages, water, keep groceries in the fridge and microwave food. All parts of Tarragona are within easy walking distance, and the nearby Central Market has a great range of food stalls. And if you like Roman archaeology, then Tarragona is the right place for you!

Nothing really, except that to maintain the flow of water in the shower, you have to push a button every minute of so. Can't imagine that this is any more environmentally friendly than the usual arrangement.

A great budget hotel. We had a clean, pleasant, comfortable en-suite double for 1 night. A good size, simply but adequately furnished and a very good shower. Though close to the city centre, it was on a quiet back street with little noise even on a Saturday night. The communal lounge had useful facilities for light self-catering and was an interesting relaxed place to spend time in - thoughtfully equipped and presented. The young man on reception (Artem) was terrific - friendly, outgoing and extremely helpful with information and assistance to make our stay a pleasure. We really enjoyed our stay and it offered great value for money. We would certainly stay here again.

- Xavier at reception was lovely and gave me a lot of information on Tarragona! - Good position, a short walk from everything you want to see - There is a dining area with everything you need to eat in case you get takeaway or get some food at the store

- I didn't love that the sink and shower didn't have a water pressure setting, it felt a little bit like a waste of water (especially the sink as you can't stop it early), plus the shower took some time to understand how to use - Could hear everything from outside (I thought it would have been a quiet area but I could hear people screaming and chatting outside at 3/4 am as if they were in the room with me), same thing with the guests upstairs, I could hear everything. Not really the hotel's fault but it would be worth making at least the windows more "sound proof" - Thankfully I was alone but if I was with someone it definitely would have been awkward to use the toilet as there was no door, only a curtain

Short version - Stay here!! The owners, and all the staff if amazing, it feels like you’re around family all the time. Long version - I arrived at Hotel Pigal being very sick, and the owners took care of me straight away. It can be scary being sick when you’re in a foreign country; but the made me feel so safe and taken care of. Once I recovered I was meant to keep on traveling, but I loved my stay at Hotel Pigal so much that I just stayed! The city is amazing as well and they were always available to ask for recommendations on different things. The hotel is in a great location, very short walk to the port, beach and center, and again the staff is amazing and goes above and beyond for you, and the rooms are super nice as well. I cannot recommend this place enough. Special shoutout to Xavi who owns this hotel with his wife, he always made sure I was ok, and I’m going to miss them both!

This was one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. We booked at the very last minute and within half an hour the owner/host was in contact to say we could check-in (at12:30pm). The owner/host Xavi was warm, genuine and so helpful. He gave us a map of the local area and having ascertained we were only in Tarragona for one day gave us a quick and very informative summation of the best places to visit. He has a degree in history and is fourth generation Tarragonese so really knew his stuff! The room was super clean, tidy, beautifully decorated and had its own little bathroom area. Downstairs there was a common guest area with dining tables, tea and coffee facilities and a very large fridge for general use with labels available to put on your own food and drinks. Everything has been thought of for the guests comfort. We felt Xavi’s main objective was to ensure every guest had the ultimate experience of Tarragona. Would 100% visit ago and recommend to others.

Xavier was a lovely host and incredibly involved in the comfort of his guests, which he all knows by name. He gave great advice for the city. I hope you get to take a break soon, Xavier. The room was lovely, as we're the amenities. Everything was clearly well thought through, up to the little details. For instance I was very happy to see, that the shower had a holder for my shower stuff, a thing which weirdly enough way too many places don't offer. (This is a pet peeve of mine.) Special highlight were the beach towels and umbrellas you could borrow.

Clean and comfortable accommodation with very useful dining room to make drinks and snacks. Great market a few minutes away for supplies. The owner, Xavier is just lovely, and I liked the vintage, ‘shabby chic’ decor and decorative items. 😊 Tarragona is a great place to stay, lots to do and see.

Friendly welcome and efficient service. The room was clean, comfortable and had all that I needed. The location is very convenient - a short walk from the bus station and right in the centre of town. The provision of mugs, plates, cutlery, fridge etc is a real bonus - it is so convenient to have a hot drink and to be able to bring your own food and eat it there.

Little packets of shower gel, no shampoo. A dispenser would be better.
