This is a small hotel (20 rooms) that has been 100% renovated recently in a very tasteful and modern fashion. The room I had was bright, well equipped with refrigerator. micro-oven, coffee maker, and basic utensils for preparing snacks/small meals. The location is convenient and very close to 3 of acsensores to get up to the cerros. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a fully equipped kitchen on the 2nd floor along with laundry facilities.

My room faced directly onto Av. Esmeralda which is quite a busy street and noisy due to vehicle traffic. I suspect the rooms on the side would be less noisy. At check-in, I had to pay Chile IVA tax (19%). I was under the impression that foreigners who paid with a foreign credit card would not have to pay this. Apparently not at this property.

Comfortable bed, clean room, and bathroom. Convenient little kitchen area with a few plates, glasses, cups, and cutlery. Very friendly and helpful staff. My door didn't close due to a broken/stuck locker, and they fixed the issue quickly and offered me another room/master bedroom.

Location is convenient but not ideal. It's pretty noisy at night and traffic during the day. Don't take the steps next to the hotel or be careful and aware of the folks (consumption of several substances) hanging out there. I took the steps multiple times to go up to Cerro Alegre but didn't care if they would rob me, coz I didn't carry anything of value and a spare phone. But it is not recommended after dark.

Can't fault the rooms. New, smart, clean. Good shower and bathroom. A good place to stay at a very good price. Tip for finding it: it's at the address stated but there are no signs outside. You can enter through the coffee shop, you can see the front desk through the glass. Also the large wooden front door when the coffee shop is closed. All access is electronic numerical keypads.

No WiFi - sure it states this in the property description but it's still a bit of a shortcoming. Could do with some signs outside on the building. The area of town does not look very nice.

I loved everything about Casa Esmeralda! The hotel is modern and new, the room is comfortable, clean and has everything I needed (including a fridge and kitchenware). The shower is perfect too (hot water, great water pressure). The location is great, a short walking distance to all the main sites of Valparaiso, and the staff are super helpful and friendly. There is even a laundry room for the use of the hotel’s guests. Warmly recommended!

Everything was perfect

The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The location was great! The room was quiet except on the weekend when noisy night clobbers were coming in from the party.

20% VAT was added to the room which was unexpected as a tourist I had not had to pay it anywhere else upon presenting my passport. It was also not mentioned on the final price I was given through Expedia. No housekeeping was offered so the one garbage can was overflowing after 4 days.

Very comfortable room, a central location and the staff were friendly. It suited us for a short trip and we would stay here again.

The entrance to the property could have been communicated better before arrival as it wasn't clear. There was no door into the full bathroom, only to the toilet, this meant the shower was not private from the bedroom - we had not realised this before booking.

I love staying at this hotel. Great location, and the building is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, super clean, and nicely decorated. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is large and well-designed. Plus, its location next to a café makes it easy to have a coffee whenever you want.

Friendly staff, nice amenities like the kitchen, washer/dryer, and the cafe that is soon to open. The view from the room was beautiful, in the top floor. Close to touristy areas.

Internet speed was slow, light seeps through in the morning, and the water takes a while before it finds the right temperature. Esmeralda street can be a bit sketchy as well.

We stayed there for 2 nights. We are satisfied with almost everything there. The only thing less than perfect is the noise from the traffic on the busy street. It's a good location to go touring the vibrant city though. Ear plugs can be very helpful.

Good location, great friendly staff

I was staying on a 6th floor room and the toilet flush took a while to work, I did not like to be pumping the mechanism and took a long while to work!!!
