I think booking.com should list the actual pet fee (not a generic statement "charges may apply"). This is the second time where I was charged for pet fee higher than what's on booking.com from 2 different hotel chains. On booking.com, pet fee for this particular hotel was $25-$30. I was charged $40 per night per pet for a 20lb dog. The other chain was going to charge $75 per night per pet. I had my dog stayed with my sister since $75 was ridiculously too expensive for the level of hotel chain.

Staff was helpful and friendly. The property was quiet. The lobby was well designed and modest.

The coffee did not taste good - it had a weird smell and an aftertaste. Eggs tasted powdered. There was no tv remote in our room; and the plug-ins at the lamps were faulty. We had to charge our phones in the bathroom. The sheets/bedding did not breathe, so we sweated all night.

our phone and ear chargers were forgotten in room. Cleaning crew "didn't find them". Went back to hotel and looked for them in room. They were not where we had plugged them in. Not sure where else they could have been as they were not in our luggage. No big deal we can replace both but the block and ear chargers were special and expensive.

Our room was very clean and the price was great. The breakfast was fine. We were happy to see the fruit and a decent array of breakfast foods. The area was a little cramped.

If at all possible the breakfast area could be larger. Some room temperature adjustments could be made. Perhaps a smaller room air conditioner. Our room was either too cool or too warm.

billing practices fall outside any we’ve experienced ANYWHERE including international travel. instead of posting the charge for the full amount of our our multi day stay when we checked in, they placed a hold for the full amount on the credit card. on subsequent days, they placed additional holds for what would have been the balance. in essence and without warning, they tied up almost triple the amount owed for the stay by issuing these incremental holds. manager on duty could not explain properly when asked, apparently has no authority whatsoever and kept pointing the finger at the owners. in the end, the charges were corrected, but it was very disturbing to get a credit card notification every day showing hundreds of dollars in pending additional charges.

Solo, you can always do more or better Sometimes small details make big differences. But no complains.

The staff were very friendly and our room, linen and towels had a clean, fresh smell. The continental breakfast was fantastic! Something for everyone. There are restaurants close by and the highway is right there! Our stay here, our daughter graduated from VA Tech, was very nice.

We couldn't adjust the volume of the television. It was very low and we couldn't hear it. The hotel probably had to set it low because previous guests had their volumes too high. Also, you might have to place a damp towel over the AC vents. The air from the vents blow towards the bed and might annoy you when sleeping.

We stopped on our way north and appreciated the location and the breakfast.

Best Western is still married to the square bed pillows. Once again they were not comfortable for sleeping.

breakfast was good, check in and out was quick and easy. easy on off interstate 81. good diner to eat at within walking distance.
