Everything was as expected or beyond expectation. So there is nothing to complain about. We gave it a 9 because of the renovationworks are not finished yet.... But we are sure it will become a 10 when finished. Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean, aircondtioned and big enough. The swimming pool is maintained and cleaned every morning and the water is warm enough. The new owners worked very hard to make sure our stay was beyond demands. They succeeded. We wish Philippe and Natasha (I hope I wrote the names the right way) a lot of succes and all the best.

There was nothing wrong!

We only stayed for one night on our way home from Cherbourg to Switzerland. We arrived late and left rather early. Didn't even chose to have breakfast. But the house is a nice old building, room and beds where comfortable, there is a large garden to the back and great off road parking. The hosts where very friendly, the checkin by code worked without any problems. We went for dinner at A La Maison, which is easily reached from the hotel. Highly recommended! And Auxerre seems a nice town, we shall have to return.

Since we only wanted a place to sleep, I didn't check the rooms beforehand. Ours was towards the road, next time I would book one towards the garden. The road is somewhat busy and noise for me is a problem. With closed windows it wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't want to sleep with the window open.

Wonderful welcome from the very 'new' owners. Very friendly and gave us a fabulous room with roof terrace. Access to car park is 'snug' but lots of room to park. Beautiful building with nice grounds and a good breakfast ( buffet style). Such good value for money. Easy walk into glorious centre too. Very cute dog & talkative parrot too on hand :)

New owners are doing a major refurb. Bit of noise that can't be helped. Our room was lovely but I think others I glimpsed were bit small & dated but watch this space as they refurb.

The owner was so welcoming and helpful and made us feel very at home. He recommended the perfect place for us to eat that evening. The centre of auxerre is an easy stroll from the hotel and great that hotel offers free, safe parking in the courtyard. Breakfast was good, plenty on offer and a lovely atmosphere in the dining room. We very much enjoyed our stay and wish the owner luck with his restoration of the hotel to its former glory. The hotel will be even better when the work is complete

Lovely old building and view over garden. Comfortable bed with very nice bedding. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Good parking on site.

The whole place would benefit from investment. The bedrooms are names after French generals and it would be nice to have a picture of them and some information. The superior room was bleak. Nothing on the walls, empty fridge, tiny and very dated bathroom. The pool was closed and the outside areas need a good tidy up. The front office closes at 8 and a huge metal grill is pulled across. Not very attractive. The main entrance needs remodelling so guests don’t have to see all the open office stuff. Breakfast room - Perspex chairs so out of place. However, we would stay there again.

The welcome was excellent with the bonus that the new owners speak good English. Upgrades since our last visit last year include new windows, air conditioning and better organised parking. Breakfast was good, albeit charged extra.

The bathroom in the room we had needs refurbishing. The shower in the bath was very slippery and so quite dangerous, and the water escaped across the floor. Some of the fixtures were broken.

A beautiful old house with a charming couple in charge. They were very welcoming and the continental breakfast was good. Appreciated on site parking for car. The location was excellent, an easy walk to the old town. A good place to stop for the night.

The room was very dated, painted chocolate brown with large stains on carpet. The air con are self standing units that would be too noisy to have on at night. There was a lot of dust in drawers. They are lovely people and if they can gradually update the rooms they will have success.

Philippe was the most helpful hotelier I have ever met. So welcoming at the end of a long motorbike ride. Great advice and local knowledge. He even managed to book us a restaurant at the very last minute. It is a lovely place, a great location, with extremely comfortable beds. I am looking forward to staying there again on our way back from the Alps. Thank you, Philippe. Keep doing what you are doing. See you again soon!

We had a very comfortable night at Les Marechaux. The room was clean and well enquired with a comfortable bed. The bed was nice and wide, a true king size. The hotel is located a short walk from the historic centre of Auxerre which meant we could walk into town and enjoy a lovely dinner at a restaurant recommended by Isabelle. We had the breakfast which was adequate and convenient for us as we were driving to the airport in Paris from the hotel and wanted to get away early. I am happy to recommend this hotel and would return myself.

Quiet, interesting 19th c hotel with great secure parking onsite. Central Auxerre is less than 10 minutes walk away. It makes a great base for exploring the region. Our room though in the attic had a large double French window with balustrade looking onto the nature trees in the garden and another with a fine skyline view of the city. We did not have the breakfast option but appreciated the kettle provided in our room. We would stay again.
