All the staff and others there were very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. The manager helped us secure train reservations after one we had was unexpectedly canceled the previous day resulting in overnight stay. He went above and beyond.

The room was up a long flight of stairs, and then a spiral staircase. There was no air-conditioning or fans. It was especially hot weather. Bed pillows were horrible. Food service was unpredictable. Purchased breakfast, and it was sparce at best.

Good location near centre opposite train station. A short walk to main shopping area. Parking, bar and restaurant. Outside seating and tables at back, unfortunately the weather was bad but plenty of seating inside.

Dinner was ok but mainly food from freezer.

This is my third visit. I love the location (overlooking the station) and the secluded parking is a real bonus. The dinner menu is quite limited but the food is excellent.

It’s just like the hotels I stayed in 30 year ago before the big chains suffocated travelling enjoyment.

The shower room was a bit tight (but I didn’t spend the night there!).

The location is perfect. I think it is an ideally located clean hotel with all the essentials for travellers. My room was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable.

Couldn't open the window on a hot night. There was only a fire escape window / door onto the fire escape and it wasn't safe to leave it open for ventilation. With no air conditioning it was difficult to sleep.

Travelling by motorbike, I appreciated the secure parking round the back, accessed via a code. Hotel very central, opposite the train station in a semi pedestrianised area. Single room was adequate, bathroom a bit small but good shower.

No complaints as it was comfortable and good value. When I arrived about 6pm there was only one person handling check-in and serving drinks and snacks; he really needed some help, which arrived later when it was quiet. Some confusion over payment, then it was agreed I had already paid through booking.com.

The location is great, with parking alongside. I enjoyed sitting in the bar and the meal in the restaurant. My second visit.

We have stayed at the Hotel de la Gare a number of times and will do so again. The hotel is convenient in the centre of town and has its own parking, although a small charge is applicable at certain times of the year. Since our last visit the rooms have been refurbished and the previous poor/non-existent wi-if now works perfect throughout the hotel. The staff that we met were extremely helpful. A very comfortable night.

Could have used washcloths and hand towels.x
