The mideval building was fascinating. Our room was very large and well equipped with amenities and had a nice view out to an interior courtyard. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very adequate. The manager referred us to an excellent nearby restaurant for dinner.

Although I saw no faces peering out of the windows in the building across the street from our very large bathroom, I felt uneasy that there could be ocassions when that could be an issue. I had trouble negotiating the rounded cobblestones in the surrounding streets, but parking was very convenient and it was only a very short walk to the historic cathedral. I was very irritated to learn that all the rooms had private bathrooms, especially because booking.com had urged me to upgrade to a bigger room "with a bathroom." The additional cost wasn't a lot, but it felt wasteful to have a "suite" with an additional room with a bed that we never used.

Excellent welcome from a superb host who showed us into a stunning room which reminded us of the exceptional efforts made on several UK TV programmes to bring ancient French buildings back into use in the 21st century. Considerable efforts had also been made to ensure we were able to navigate the medieval centre of the town, as well as enjoy the wide choice of restaurants for our evening meal. We also enjoyed a first class breakfast on-site.

Great large rooms in an old 14th century building that has been renovated to make about 6 modern suites, with air conditioning and modern bath facilities, unique decor. Breakfast is in the basement. The building is about 70 meters below the Cathedral, one of the main attractions, and is near to several restaurants.

Some of the electric features were quirky, and to walk to this you have to go quite a distance from the train station. Should take a taxi! You do have to navigate circular stairs up the old tower, but the stay is worth it.

We loved the comfort of the rooms and the preservation of the fifteenth-century house and its medieval features. The bathroom behind the wall wood panelling in our room was wonderful! The host was very welcoming. Breakfast was good. The B&B is located in the centre - very close to the cathedral. We parked at the bottom of the town in a convenient and safe public car-park, 10 minutes from the B&B, but we could have driven up into the town to park nearer using the directions given if we had wished.

Unique accommodation in an authentic 15th century setting. Spacious room overlooked a courtyard and bathroom was roomy and modern. Whilst the route to find it was somewhat circuitous, the host's detailed instructions were very helpful. The magical & memorable journey rewards you with an exceptional location, with the cathédrale and many restaurants all within walking distance, and a gorgeous old town to explore.

Wow, what an utterly cool place! Huge room with lounge space. Incredible history to the building. The location is fantastic, almost next door to the cathedral. It is a little difficult to find, if you are driving, but the Host went way out of his way to guide me and it really is managable - this is an ancient cobblestone street hillside town with quite narrow streets but I was able to fit a Tesla Model Y where it needed to go and so almost any sensible rental car would manage fine.

We only stayed the night but will return for a longer stay as soon as we are able.

The host Pierre was very charming and helpful. The property has been in his family for generations and the decor and history of the house adds to the overall experience of being in the ancient town of Le Puy en Velay. Not often you can get the chance to stay in such a property. The town itself is fabulous, check out Notre Dame Cathedral, St Michel on the Mount Chapel, the renovated statue of Virgin Mary - even if you are not religious, the history and views are very interesting - and much better than Troyes in every way, our next destination. The breakfast was in a beautiful room in the lower part of the building, with lots of artworks etc. Very relaxing. This is an ancient property, with decor and furnishings to compliment but has wifi, Netflix etc should you want - but go outside!!!

Not a dislike but beware of the narrow streets and one way systems in the old town. Low profile cars - be careful! Not a complaint and it goes with the territory of the town but you need your wits about you! The host however gives good directions and ample parking choices.

An amazing 300 year-old house in the centre of the old town, beside the cathedral. Beautiful period decoration and atmospheric, with a very friendly and attentive host.

The access by car was fairly stressful - streets too narrow to pass through. The moral is: use the helpful directions provided and not Google maps!! The coffee machine seemed a bit temperamental - perhaps individual cafetières would do the job better?

This is an exceptional residence. This is an ancient hotel that has been renovated and decorated to be perfectly comfortable. The host is probably the most thoughtful and kind host I have ever encountered in my many decades of travel.

There is absolutely nothing I did not like. Staying at the Demeure was more of a transcendent experience than simply a place to spend the night and have breakfast.

Unique historic hotel and very helpful host. Great location for relaxing stay. Literally a hidden gem, right by pathway down to tourist office and very convenient to main sights of vieux Le Put.

Parking requires care but is easy to find once hotel is located. Roads up are steep and narrow so use caution, still we managed with standard size rental car.
