Wow. Gilles establishment is a true 10/10. Incredible location, wonderful and super historic home. Gilles is a great and very friendly host. This is probably the best place to stay in the entire town, stuck next to the cathedral, incredible views and a super rooftop to enjoy champagne with the best view around. What a special place… words do not suffice.

The location, the interior design and the hosts were great! The room is beautifully decorated with a stunning view of the city. The bed is very comfortable. The common areas are designed with taste and give a « homey » feeling. The hosts are very welcoming and cheerful - they made us feel at home.

1) The sheets smelt of humidity (as when you leave them in the washing machine for too long after it’s finished), which is not pleasant when you are in bed - it was the same at our first stay, so I encourage the owners to take care of that as it is easy to mend. 2) The trash in the bathroom had not been emptied after the previous guest. 3) Lastly, the small pasta dinner was overpriced (more expensive than a 2 course menu with meat at Camillou for 2 people), but the company was exactly what we needed so we will not fuss about it.

Superb views over Le Puy. Well appointed suite of rooms. Very clean. Warm welcome by hosts. Not many metres from the cathedral - 2 minutes walk - great location for Pilgrims Mass.

It’s at the top of a very steep hill (but it is worth the effort!). We would have appreciated fresh towels on our second day in the very hot weather.

Beautifully decorated and finished suite and visitor rooms with a terrace for their guests with a spectacular view. In the midst of the old town. Lovely breakfast, both Sandrine and Gilles were most welcoming and kind and made our stay in Puy a great treat - so sorry we couldn't stay longer but we will be back.

All was excellent - perhaps a map to show driving directions through the city would have been a bonus.

Nothing at all to complain about. People who can’t manage stairs will find it a challenge (but then, Le Put-en-Velay is so hilly that if you can’t manage a few flights of stairs, you should avoid the town altogether).

Amazing stay in an amazing location. The hotel definitely exceeded my expectations and I just wished I could have stayed longer to be able to enjoy the facilities more, especially the beautiful terrace with the spectacular view. The hosts were kind, friendly, and very helpful. Thank you for such a wonderful stay in a beautiful town.

The breakfast was really good, served in the open plan living dining room with the most stunning views of the cathedral turret and roofs beyond. Our bedroom had amazing views of the gigantic statue of the Virgin Mary which was lit up at night.

The stairs are a challenge. Ok for us but three flights might not suit everyone.

Beautiful LOCATION right amidst the upper city. Beautiful view on the Madonna, fell asleep with coompline chantings silently to be heard from the monastery. The SUITE is incredibly beautiful equipped, bathroom with spa jacuzzi, second room with shower with integrated hammam. High end coffee making facilities in your room, subtle flat screen TVs in style of a framed painting. The HOST was very helpful and friendly. Very well recommended!

The location was perfect, the property had huge character and had been refurbished to a high standard, merging old and new wonderfully. There was the ideal mix of privacy in the private space and welcoming common areas. The views were the best and the facilities, including spa bath and shower were as good as I’ve experienced.

The number of steps to the front door. But it was reached by an ancient stone spiral staircase - what can you expect?

This is extraordinary by any standards.

To be honest, I didn't like the pressure put on me by the check-in policy (5h-8h) but Yohann was quite flexible in the end. It is also understandable as Yohann is alone. In any case, any dissatisfaction left vanished when I saw this extraordinary XV century lodging with all the modern amenities placed in the middle of this very old citadel.
