We loved the warm welcome. Hervé was happy for us to come early. We asked if this was ok first, of course. Chilling on the comfy sunloungers in the wonderful large, green, peaceful garden was so good after a very long drive. We had arranged to have his Panier Repas, which is more a meal on a tray than in a basket. This was served outside with the views of meadows, cows and goats. There were large helpings of chicken à la Basquaise with home grown green beans on the way &confit of duck with veg on the way back plus apple compote. Starter was chopped home grown cherry tomatoes with fresh parsley, plus goats cheese . . Both rooms in the house have comfy beds and everything needed including an electronic fan in the circular ceiling light! Lots of gadgets !The drinks fridge in the bathroom with 2 bottles of water was very welcome as was the coffee machine. Though it being positioned at ankle height was a problem for me. However Hervé was happy to operate it for me!

Not a dislike, but the traditional French petit dej of bread and jam isn't good for a Pre-Diabetic like me, delicious as it is. . A bit of ham, or cheese or egg would make it much better.

We loved that Hervé allowed us to arrive early. But don't just turn up! Clear it with him first! You need to follow the rules then your stay will be a happy one! There are Fermé and Ouvert signs for the dining room which is also their home. The Chambre on the ground floor is very comfortable. Being not so agile I used the shower/sunken bath as a sitz bath very successfully. The coffee machine I found hard to.operate, being at ankle height under the TV. However, when appealed to for help, Hervé came and did it for me! We relaxed on loungers in the tranquil, large, beautifully kept garden surrounded by meadows leading to the River Varenne while our meal was prepared . We had pre-arranged to have the Panier Repas. This was chicken à la Basquaise with Pommes de terre écrasé and lots of green beans. The herbs and veg were home grown & there was an amazing mix of flavours! Petit dej had amazing home made rhubarb jam .

The central heating wasn't on so I found it a bit cool being best at 23° rather than 21° which I was informed it was. The weather was very wintry. Other than that nothing at all!

We had a delightful stay at La Longère Des Nuits De Varenne. It is about 30 minutes south of Dieppe and situated in a gorgeous little valley out in the countryside. Therefore very quiet. The room was large with an ensuite bathroom which included a bath and shower and a toilet. The mattress was very comfortable indeed. Everything you could need was provided and the host was very friendly and spoke English. Breakfast was good and enjoyable. There was parking at the property and there was also a very good wifi. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone, especially if they got off the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry and wanted an accommodation for the night. We will not hesitate to return.

Very friendly and helpful owner who waited up for us when we arrived late from the Dieppe ferry. The room was clean, lovely and the decor was lovely. This was set in a very beautiful location and we would love to come back for a onger stay to explore the area.

Host was very friendly and extremely helpful when the Satnav proved unreliable, driving to show us the way the last few hundred yards. Great location and facilities at the house, excellent shower and good breakfast. Dieppe a few minutes drive away provided ample eveniing entertainment.

After a warm welcome, when Hervé made sure we understood where our Panier Repas would be served and other details, we were shown the property, then our Rooms. Mine was on the ground floor with no steps at all, near the car park. Very convenient for unloading my case & stuff. The room overlooked the garden at the back and was very quiet. Everything I needed was there-nice coffee machine, not instant coffee! Case stand, touch operated bedside lights, very state of the art; bottled water in the fridge in the bathroom. Hubby had the attic room and liked it. Stairs too steep for me but he was fine with them. On the terrace were relaxer chairs just for the two chambres d'hôtes in the house (myself and my husband) plus a table, all neatly arranged where we partook of chicken, steamed parties in their skins, cheese sauce, Hervé provided me with goats cheese specially, (vows milk allergy). The view was so relaxing, over green fields and a small River. We got on with Hervé like a house on fire and had a lot of laughs! Plan to return. So relaxing to be looked after so well!

Would have appreciated the provision of a simple bed sheet as it was 35° and the duvet was not a summer one. Apart from that, nothing to dislike!

Breakfast was OK but not as good as the normal continental breakfasts. The location was difficult to find as your map should it on the D77 but it is on the D154, 800m down the road.

The shower was either very hot or cold, the adjustment did not get to a suitable temperature.

Excellent stop over after arriving late in Dieppe. The owner was great and accommodated our late arrival. Room and bathroom, very nice and breakfast was lovely. Would recommend.

A good selection of bread and home produced jams, yogurt, orange juice etc.. A lovely location and just 2 miles from a good restaurant for an evening meal on our arrival.
