A beautiful domain in the centre of France. Close to one of the most beautiful villages in France. The beds were so comfortable I felt I was sleeping on a cloud. Valerie, the host, was charming and very helpful. We enjoyed a "Pride & Predjudice" afternoon on a picnic blanket in the beautiful garden next to a fountain. The rooms are enormous and the charm of the domaine seeps through.

This was one of the nicest rooms I have stayed in. A beautiful building with authentic features. Family run former stately home. Beautiful grounds. Lovely owner. Just minutes from the main road but very peaceful, although the town clock chimes until midnight. But that doesn't bother too much. The room we had was very recently done up it had a stunning bathroom and separate shower. There was also an old study adjoining our room, which we had exclusive use of. I highly recommend this exceptional hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Very good breakfast. Beautiful Manor House and furnishings. Very attentive, helpful hostess. You are staying in a very beautiful ancestral home.

One should be aware that the check time is 1700, which is a little late in winter, when check out times in France tend to be 10 or 11. That said, the hostess (Valerie) is very accommodating, and might be able to arrange for early check in with advance notice.

Beautiful setting, a very special house - a big thank you to our lovely host Valerie who was very friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Our room was very comfortable. Also conveniently located for our onward journey to the south of France.

Unique, beautiful heritage house incredibly renovated and maintained by the very welcoming owner. In a small village with walkable good dining options, and nearby towns / famous hiking and tourist spots. Delicious fresh breakfast too of fruits, eggs, cereals and fresh breads and pastries.

A beautiful family home full of history, Valerie and Philippe were the perfect hosts, providing everything needed. We particularly enjoyed the home pressed apple juice from the orchard and the tour of the house and garage too!

That we only stayed one night - we wanted to stay longer!

Beautiful place, it was an exceptional stay. The room was very comfortable, the room was large, beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable.The breakfast was very tasty with homemade yogurt and preserves. The service was great. Thanks for a lovely stay.

What can I say - We have stayed at lots of places but Domaine de Chalaniat exceeded our expectations. Fantastic and quirky house full of beautiful and interesting possessions - so much to see. All the rooms were beautiful and designed and decorated to an exceptional standard. Valerie was the nicest host we have ever met - she could not do enough for us including booking a restaurant for us and (as we had a very long drive that day) taking us and picking us up from the restaurant. Valerie and her husband clearly love their home and making their guests stay an enjoyable experience - including sharing a bottle of wine in the grounds of the property when we returned from the restaurant. We had a guided tour of all the other rooms in the morning and although not all completed - you can see that they will be beautiful. We can’t recommend this place enough and would definitely have paid more to stay as felt it was modestly priced. Definitely one to return to- thank you both for a lovely stay and shame it was only the one night 😊😊😊
