Nestled in a lovely town near Puy de Dôme, this auberge has very friendly staff, simple but lovely rooms, and the continental breakfast had good quality and plentiful options. We thought the price to quality ratio was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Although this was not an issue for us, the stairs to the room were narrow and steep, and the sound proofing between rooms wasn't the best, but definitely not the worst either!

Orcival was an interesting little village in the heart of the Ahvergne , the hotel was spotlessly clean and comfortable although our bathroom was a bit cramped. The breakfast on offer was excellent and good value . We ate at the restaurant Le Cantou and had a super dinner of local specialties and very generous portions!!! The staff were lovely and everywhere was very French which for us is the whole point, we heard hardly any English spoken, we really felt we were in authentic France

Breakfast was OK, good but not exceptional. Dinner menu in the restaurant was limited and some items not always available however the food was very good.

Restaurant for dinner being in a different building across the square. Parking is in the village square so not secure, I managed to park my motorcycle in the small alley at the side of the hotel, better than the square but not perfect. Access to my room was up some steep, winding stairs, would not work for anyone with a mobility problem.

The Hotel Roche is in the centre of the beautiful village of Orcival. The family room was spacious and comfortable with a double bed and bunk bed and compact bathroom with great shower (and plenty of hot water after a day’s walking!) Accommodation is in the Hotel Roche, but dinner is across the village square in their very good restaurant, Le Cantou. There are also other excellent restaurants in the village for some variation. Coralie, on reception, is a delight and extremely helpful and friendly.

Everything was good except having to cook your own eggs at breakfast in a communal pan that was not washed up between uses. The rest of breakfast was a good buffet spread.

Great place - the room was spacious and clean, the bathroom was great (shower), the linen and towels so soft!!! The staff very friendly, the breakfast was also wonderful with a lot of options and delicious local meats and cheeses. The hotel restaurant was also very good with local food and dishes. Parking is just in front and free

We arrived rather late after the reception was closed, but no problem. The hotel had made a reservation for us at the restaurant, and first we we had a real 'Auvergne' meal, then the waiter gave us the key and walked us the 50 m to the hotel. Our room was at the first floor with a nice view to the basilisk. Small, but clean and comfortable. You can have breakfast, but we did not.

Everything was fine, except for the very soft pillows.

Located in the centre of the very attractive village opposite the church. Comfortable room with excellent breakfast. Enjoyed meal at the restaurant which is in the same square after mass in the church

The breakfast was good, continental, with plenty of choice. The area was lovely, lots of walks & choice of places to eat in the village.The restaurant attached to the hotel had good food at a reasonable price.

Ran by a husband and wife team. They also own a restaurant 1 minute away which he is the chef and we had a lovely meal there for very reasonable prices. The wife is the gem there. So friendly and helpful. Moved us to a room with aircon which we booked. Some rooms don't have it. Lovely local pints and wine offered. Beautiful location looking out at the historical D'Orvical Church from 1146. She speaks clear English and joined us for a while to chat about her life and the town's history. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Great location centre Village. Rooms modern and comfy thank goodness for the air con. Excellent breakfast. Parking available close by. Good restaurant short walk away.

Although it advertises bar this closes at 7pm every night so you have to leave the hotel to have a drink . Lounge only has 2 seats and is also the reception so not suitable or large enough to sit and chat.
