The location is quiet, breakfast was wonderful and well presented. We primarily chose to stay here for the pool and it was excellent. The hotel has a recently opened a new extension with a huge pool, spa, wellness area (since 1/25), and part of this is a fresh terrace and dinning / event room. Most notable about the hotel was the cleanliness, especially the spa area was immaculate (a thumbs up to house keeping). The construction of the new facilities is top-notch, highest quality materials and great attention to details. Their website understates the extent of the wellness facilities. There are indeed 3 pools, 2 outdoor which are heated (1 smaller adult only + 1 large with water spa features), and a massive indoor pool. They are stainless steel, and superbly clean! The sauna's are all very large, and high quality, and there are many spa rest areas, one large and beautiful one in a quiet corner of the facility. To top it off there's a spacious garden and outdoor relaxing area.

There was nothing that I felt was exceptionally poor. Maybe the restaurant could be better staffed in the evening. I saw some reviews commenting the bathrooms were a bit dated, but in my view this is limited to the design only, the fittings were good quality, well maintained and clean ... so why fill up landfills with good stuff just to change the color?

I made a last minute booking for a short stopover. It had to be a dog friendly hotel in the countryside. What I got far exceeded my expectations. Very friendly staff, hotel in a quiet location surrounded by fields and forests, a large room, dog friendly for two dogs, an excellent restaurant with good selection and a fantastic view! Next time I will come ready to use the pool and wellness section.

The hotel is slightly dated but everything is in perfect order. It has recently been modernised and the wellness area and restaurant look great.

It was so far the best accommodation we've been in during our many years of travelling! The decor is stunning, 2.5 metres wide bed is something we have never seen before. Extremely clean, 2 bottles of water and 1 bottle of an apple spritzer gratis. Tablet with all the information you need plus huge TV. Perfectly designed lighting with a bathroom night light. Bidet is a big plus. Underground parking was a great option as we had our electric bikes on.

The only problem was that you could hear noisy showers from the other rooms in the morning. But luckily guests were not up too early.

I really enjoyed my stay at Gut Matheshof. The wellness area was excellent, and both breakfast and dinner were absolutely very good.. Overall, though, it was a wonderful experience, and I would happily return.

One area where I see space for improvement is the check-in process — we had to wait about 20 minutes before being attended to, which was a bit inconvenient.

Location was good for walking the dogs. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and comfortable. Dinner was fine but breakfast was amazing! Given the place was a little different from your normal hotel it was much more modern and well set up than I expected. The room was well supplied with power points, good wifi, a bar fridge etc. So it exceeded my expectations in that respect.

Only problem was no hot water until the morning we left which meant that we couldn't have a shower the evening we arrived. reception said they would fix it but it wasn't soon enough for us t benefit as the following morning we had a tight schedule for the 5 hour drive to our next destination. Also the actual shower attachment in the shower was broken so it would have been a balancing act to get it to stay in place with the water flowing (but the option would have been nice),

The spa and pool area is incredible with both an indoor and outdoor pool along with the other spa areas. It's absolutely worth making time for this and enjoying the beautiful view. The breakfast is also large and quite good.

There is no AC in the rooms and if your room has faced the sun all day it can be quite hot in the room without much airflow.

The spa, gym, poll was perfect!

The staff at frontdesk did not know absolutely anything. Unable to recommend anything. Similar in the evening in the restaurant. They did not know what wine they had opened by glass, did not know what meals from ala Carte is missing etc. Sleep there but dont ask anything.

Beautiful area, big clean rooms, bed huge! Complimentary mini bar. Breakfast in the restaurant was great. Plenty of choice for everyone 👍 It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room, but a free coffee machine was available in the lobby Plenty of area around for dog walks

There wasn't really anything we didn't like. ....

Location, somewhere in the forest. Very quiet. Parking spaces. The bald tattooed reception guy ☺️ who was very welcoming despite the late hour of my arrival. The huge and very comfortable bed. Very spacious room. The complimentary 3 bottles of water. Nice breakfast. The beautiful jewellery display from the reception area.

The breakfast was great, shower nice and powerful, spacious rooms, comfy beds, large TV and a tablet in the room for guests probably good if you have children

A bit out of the way although there is a town close by but didn’t get the time to visit. Rooms do need a little update on the decor
