Cosy rooms traditionally decorated within the castle town. Some rooms have fantastic sea views. Breakfast was rich and the staff willing to help. Air-conditioning working fine - which is essential as it gets very hot in the summer. Very quiet, especially in the evening. Restaurants and bars are very close. Hotel is accessible on foot only, as there are no cars within the castle. Lovely scenery and walks in the deserted upper town.

I liked everything personally, however it is good to know that the whole area within the castle is hardly accessible by people with mobility issues (there are no cars, as the town has only narrow stony paths). Once you pass the castle gate, the hotel is at the opposite end of the castle, so it's about a 10 minute walk. However the walk is very pleasant. Swimming in the sea is possible, but there is only a small rocky platform from which you can get into the sea. However there are beaches in the wider area. Parking can be very difficult and it may take a 20 minute walk from available parking spaces to the castle town. However, all these issues are related to the town and not specifically to the hotel.

We stayed one night in this hotel. The experience of staying within the old castle walls was unique and memorable. The hotel is located in a quiet part of the village, away from the busier areas. The room was cozy and matched the medieval atmosphere of the village. Breakfast was simple but included the essentials — yogurt, eggs, and freshly squeezed orange juice. There was also a wide selection of sweet pastries, which may not be to everyone’s taste; a few more fresh fruit options would have been a nice addition. About a 10-minute walk from the hotel, there’s a beautiful bathing spot by the sea.

To reach the hotel, you’ll need to park your car outside the main gates and walk about 200 meters through the cobbled streets — something to keep in mind if you have heavy luggage. That said, for a small fee, there are porters available who can help carry your bags.

We stayed in room No 5 (superior triple room). Nice view from our room windows and comfortable big bed.Big bathroom with all amenities provided. We were expecting to have a small outdoor sitting area as per the pictures when we booked but unfortunately there wasn’t one.Property should remove the picture in the description as it misleading. Walls need soundproofing as we could not only hear the sound of the water running/flushing down the toilet but also all the conversations coming from the couple that was staying in the room attached to ours.A small cafè/bar is situated right under the room so be prepared for a bit more disturbance. Breakfast was nice but it’s only available in a small room that gets really crowded.

Situated right at the end of the old town made it super quiet at night - we met other tourists staying at the other end of town near the entrance gate and they complained a lot about the noise they had. We paid for the most pricey room and, boy, was it worth it! - fab view from balcony, windows on three sides. Shower was good. Beautiful wooden ceiling. Very comfy bed. Breakfast was a delight. Staff all very welcoming, from start to finish. A MOST magical and memorable stay.

A bit of a walk from the old city gate when you arrive and leave - but it’s SO well worth it.

Literally a place that does not need advertisement; the view from the room was breathtaking with views from all sides (3 windows and one balcony). There was also a lovely fireplace we used a couple of nights. The room was clean and the staff was friendly and very polite. Breakfast was excellent with several choices of local and high quality products. The cafeteria had an astonishing view to the Aegean sea and the bastion on the east side of the castle town. Overall, the pictures of the room and facilities at Booking depict the reality. Well done !

Nothing to say... maybe that we had to leave :)

We enjoyed our stay at Bastione Malvasia Hotel. Our room was spacious and very clean. We had every second day our towels and sheets changed. The room is spacious for Monemvasia. Bed was big enough and very comfortable. Our superior room had a huge balcony with great view of the surroundings, the sea and the eastern wall of Monemvasia. The bathroom was great, very clean with a big shower and everything was working as intended. Wi-fi in the room was ok. The staff was excellent. We especially loved the lady at the breakfast with her heartwarming smile welcoming us each morning and her exquisite cooking. The breakfast is prepared every day in their kitchen, and almost everything is handmade (with love) with local products. Many of the dishes are different each day. The location is great. On the main road but at the end of it, far away from all the noise of the local market but no need to climb a lot of stairs to reach your room. On the bottom level of the hotel there is a great cafe with one of the best views in Monemvasia. We enjoyed our coffee and orange pie there. Everything handmade again. We definitely recommend Bastione Malvasia Hotel.

The view was breathtaking, definitely worth the stay! The room as very comfortable and the breakfast was very nice locally produced, with the most polite lady ever making sure ehad what we needed.

The location of the hotel was challenging when you have suitcases, it is literally one of the last houses before the wall that surrounds Monemvasia. We arrived late afternoon and had to drag our suitcases for about 10 minutes in narrow cobbles streets to find it. HOWEVER, you can get people to help with your luggage, costs €5 and it is worth it, as we used them on the ay back. It is worth for the hotel to mention this to on their welcoming communication.

Hotel in Monemvasia Castle, unbelievable location. We took a standard room with a balcony, where you can see the sea and the castle wall, especially in the early morning — the view is breathtaking. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast, impeccable cleanliness

You should note that parking from the castle gate can be about 200 m to 1 km away from the hotel (as it's hard to find an available spot) and then another 300 m on cobblestone paths. Until around 4 PM, there is a delivery service available to transport your luggage from the castle gate, but if you arrive later, you'll need to carry it yourself. The hotel rooms look much better in the photos than in reality. If you are tall, the bathroom might be an issue due to very low ceilings. Despite all these shortcomings, the stay was so amazing that I cannot rate it less than 10/10 😀

Amazing location and view. The room was very clean and was probably even better than in the photos. It is the last buiding in the old town so be prepared for some walking. Porters can help with luggage for a reasonable tip. The breakfast was really good with many different options every day, the smoked pork with orange was the local cuisine specialty and a must-try. Special mention to the hotel's bar and the bartender, we got some of the best cocktails we ever had.

There is a long walk to get there from the castle's entrance, which can be difficult in the summer, especially in a heatwave. After all, the town is in a castle, on a huge rock in the middle of the sea. Saying that, it is well worth the extra walk to enjoy the sea and castle walls view.

The space and ability to have separate rooms in the family room, the natural beauty and materials used in the interiors, and the cleanliness. It was comfortable for us and with a courtyard that had lovely views over the sea and town, it was a delightful home for 2 nights. It was convenient and the staff were great. We enjoyed and appreciated our breakfast which was included. Our kids loved this property.

This is not a real complaint as I feel It’s something which can’t be helped. The tap water was salty (I’m guessing this is for all of Momenvasia) and you could taste it even though we weren’t drinking it. I personally thought it was funny seeing my kids squirm when they brushed their teeth as it was unexpected.
