This small hotel is extremely well located, only a couple of minutes walk from the main old town centre and harbour but still far enough away for a peaceful sleep. The rooms are beautiful, clean, air conditioned (with a quiet, sleep mode) and the beds are super comfy; decorated to reflect the medieval architecture. We also had a balcony overlooking the street, with ample space for us both to sit out. The shower is modern with great water pressure and nice toiletries. The room was cleaned and towels changed, daily. Delicious continental style breakfast, served in a courtyard incorporating the medieval wall, including freshly squeezed orange juice, espresso coffee, tea, eggs, cheese, bread, various pastries and homemade jams and marmalades. The hosts were wonderful. When we go back to Rhodes we will stay there again!

The Cava D'Oro is a totally charming, highly picturesque boutique hotel, and we had a delightful stay there. The proprietors are super-helpful and friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. (We were able to check in early, and they made all our transportation arrangements.) The location is fantastic--it's on a quiet street only a short walk away from the harbor, all the major tourist destinations, and the vibrant shop-lined streets at the center of Old Town. (It's also easy to access by taxi--which can't enter Old Town--since it's very close to two of the town gates.) What makes the hotel so special is its "medieval" atmosphere--it's in a building that abutts the town wall and dates to the 12th century, and the rough-hewn stone walls and evocative decor makes you feel like you've stepped back into Crusader times. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and there was plenty of courtyard space and a small balcony where you could sit outside. It was a memorable visit and we really loved staying here!

We had one of the smallest rooms, which was a little cramped for my 6'3" husband because of the curved stone wall on one side. I'd go for a larger one next time.

This was a last-minute reservation, and Cava d'Oro team responded swiftly and organized my airport transfer. Everything was perfect. From receiving me in the airport to welcoming me at the hotel and explaining the main ins and outs for exploring the old city. Breakfast is amazing. So authentic and delicious. The room is spotless clean and the location was perfect for exploring Rhodes on foot. The pick up point for excursions was 2 minutes away from the hotel. I would definitely book it again if I am in Rhodes.

I highly recommend staying in this small family hotel. The owners are extremely kind and helpful. The lady helped me negotiate a better price for the scooter. The location of the hotel is great if you want to take a day trip around the area by scooter or car, because it is right next to the entrance to the historic center. In the evening, you can stroll through the historic center. A really great place for us and we will definitely come back to Rhodes.

I bought the room at the last minute, we were a bit lacking a balcony or a terrace, but we were in season, so we couldn't choose much. None the less we know that the other rooms had that option.

We enjoyed so much. The owners were the most welcoming and accommodating I’ve ever stayed with. They could not do more to help you and take an interest in what you were planning and how they could help with advice. The hotel and courtyards are fabulous, breakfast choice was wide and the food was lovely and sitting in the courtyard whilst eating it was amazingly relaxing. The location is perfect, moments from the Old Town centre cafes and restaurants but peaceful.

There isn’t anything not to like. I can’t overstate enough what a great hotel this is to stay at.

A stay at Cava D'Oro is like a stay in a 5-star hotel but with the charm of a country cottage. The staff go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. A buffet breakfast is served al fresco and will set you up for a day exploring Rhodes Old Town. The location is vey close to the watefront and harbour and is a 20-30 minute walk from the bus station. The hotel is actually tucked inside the ancient city walls and very convenient in every way. If you would rather avoid the bus ride from the airport, Casa d'Oro offers taxi service at modest cost directly to the property.

Out of all the hotels I have stayed at in my life, I think this is my favourite. Peaceful and quiet in the otherwise bustling old town with a level of charm and friendliness I have not encountered before. The location: It's perfectly situated for essentially everything in Rhodes: you're 2 mins walk away from the centre of the Old Town, the Ferry Port, the Sightseeing buses, the public bus, and various pick up/drop off services that can be booked. Yet with all these so close by, I found it one of the most peaceful areas of the Old Town altogether. The hotel: The hotel is so quaint and full of all the warm Greek hospitality you would get from staying with friends. The courtyard has sun, shade and a cool breeze running through it. Perfect place to have the bountiful and great value breakfast buffet. George, Alexia and all the staff are so welcoming and accommodating. There's a real personal touch about everything and you couldn't ask for more for this price. The room: I stayed in the single room. I was slightly nervous before coming as pictures were scarce you'll see on other platforms some VERY old reviews that don't speak highly of the single room but from the looks/sounds of it these are well outdated and shouldn't be paid attention to. I LOVED the room. All of the storage solutions were so clever to really maximise your floor space. The air con was excellent and much needed. The exposed stone work made it feel like you really were staying in a part of the old town's history. The bathroom was clean and well kept with a really good powerful shower. I didn't expect a mini fridge but it was a welcome surprise and I saved a lot of money by grabbing snacks and drinks to store in here. The lock box is very secure also. The only thing missing is a kettle but in this heat who needs it. The bed was exactly my kind of mattress so it was perfect for me.

I loved the property, it was like staying in a museum. It is hundreds and hundreds of years old and built up against the walls of the old town. In fact you can climb onto the old town wall from the hotel and enjoy an incredible view. Just be careful on the ladder/metal stairs. The location is excellent, near everything in the old town. And near a swimming spot just outside one of the old town wall gates. It is on the side of the old town right beside the port. Michael Palin stayed here on his Pole to Pole Tour and you can see him talking from his balcony in the hotel on the episode where he travels to Rhodes. The customer service in the hotel was excellent.

The air con in my room did the job but wasn’t excellent.

Everything about this hotel was wonderful. George and his entire family made every guest feel valued and welcome and part of the family. I cried when I left this hotel and hope to visit again very soon. I will recommend this hotel to everyone I know as they will love it as much as me. The rooms are clean, facilities are brilliant, the lovely courtyard and breakfast were exceptional and I would give this hotel a 5 star rating in an instant. Located in the Rhodes Old Town next to a charming church and lots of great tavernas the charm and beauty of this hotel are exceptional, better than the photos, you will not want to leave ever. The kindness of George and his family was brilliant - better than the top 10 hotels in the world.

I loved everything about this hotel - George and his family should be asked by hotels around the world how to make their guests feel valued and welcomed, safe and happy. They did everything right and I would recommend them to my closest friends and family. Brilliant experience at Cava D'Oro, I will return.

Very good location, far enough away from the centre of the Old Town to be quiet but only a couple of minutes walk away. 10 minutes (max) from the Dodekanisos Seaways port if you're taking the catamaran to a different island. Our room was very clean, a good size and tastefully decorated. Communication from Alexia was excellent and we took advantage of their good value airport transfer performed by Giorgos who was friendly and helpful at the hotel itself. Next time we're in Rhodes, we'd be happy to stay again and by the same token, happy to recommend.
