You can't beat the views of Kirkjufell mountain from the Guesthouse! Everything was exceptionally clean, including a fantastic shared kitchen space. The kitchen had everything you need for cooking (pots, pans, baking trays, knives, cutting boards), plus coffee and tea. The bathrooms in the rooms were clean and had heated floors. The rooms were spacious too - you really can't beat this for the reasonable price!
The only negative was that noise from the kitchen carried easily into the adjoining rooms. There was a posted no cooking time starting at 10pm that should usually make this not an issue if everyone follows it :)

Clean and great location
The kitchenette was very small, could hardly cook anything. The cleaniness of few things like bowls was questionable and the mattresses were very soft (which seems to be common in Iceland). Lastly, it was said that all lights are being turned off at 22 to be able to better spot the aurora borealis and they didn't. It was especially annoying due to the fact that it was a night with high activity so we had to jump in the car and look for a dark spot to enjoy the Northern Lights instead of doing it from the premises of the venue as we were supposed to if the lights really were turned off.

The apartment was in an amazing location, with a wonderful view of Kirkjufell Mountain. It was clean and comfortable and had all the facilities we needed for a short stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they kindly allowed us to use their washer and dryer to do some laundry. The nearby town of Grundarfjordur had a couple of great restaurants which we tried, both of which we can highly recommend (Harbour House Cafe and Bjargarsteinn Mathus). It was a short, easy walk to the waterfall Grundarfoss and an easy drive to many of the must- do sights in the Snaefellnes Peninsula. We would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Iceland.
Please could I ask the owners to check the outside utility door between apartments 3 and 4. When it is very windy (which it was) it rattles loudly at night making it difficult to sleep. We were able to fix it in the middle of the night by jamming paper towels between the door and the frame, but some simple weather-stripping would fix the problem.

,Kirkjufell Guesthouse emerges as a standout gem in my travel journey. Opting for Guesthouse with two rooms, we were greeted with a cozy haven equipped with a full kitchen, setting the stage for unforgettable culinary experiences amidst the awe-inspiring panorama of Kirkjufell Mountain. The check-in process was a breeze, with our names elegantly inscribed, welcoming us to our private abode. Positioned just a mere 3 kilometers from the renowned attraction, the guesthouse served as an ideal base for exploring the surrounding natural wonders. What truly sets Kirkjufell Guesthouse apart is its unparalleled setting. Surrounded by serene landscapes and enveloped in tranquility, the guesthouse offers respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With minimal light pollution, the night skies become a canvas for celestial displays, making it a prime location for catching the elusive Northern Lights. In essence, Kirkjufell Guesthouse not only provides a comfortable retreat but also immerses guests in the raw beauty of Iceland's rugged terrain. It's a place where every moment is infused with wonder, making it a cherished memory that lingers long after the journey ends.

The views are amazing. The staff was great and the hotel is nice and modern. Close to town, has parking and internet.
We had a room right next to the lobby. It can get really loud with children running around. There is also a dripping noise while it was raining that came from the bathroom vent. Finally, the room is at the very front of the property so when the blinds are open anyone can look in. It would be great to have blinds that open top down so that you can allow some light in without opening it to all that wall by.

Kirkjufell Guesthouse is in an idea location. It's a short drive from the beautiful Kirkjufellsfossar and the Kirkjufell Mountain. The town of Grundarfjörður is one of the nicest in this part of the West Iceland or Westurland. It's far out on Peninsula we took the ferry from WESTFJORDS. And it was a long day. Be sure to drive completely around the end of the Peninsula if you visit here. The Guesthouse looks pretty new and they look like they are expanding. They have a nice view up towards the town and the Mountain, and you can see the closer Grundarfoss which is within walking distance, 1.5km.

Location is great for supporting early morning and evening visits of Kirkjufell.
We booked the apartment, which was very nice — large, comfortable, great view and exceptionally clean. Our friends were in the studio, and it was less desirable because it was in main building, adjacent to office, on first floor. To have drapes open means windows face out directly to arrival area for cars and a significant lack of privacy, so I would have not liked that.

We had one of the “Mountain View” rooms with enormous windows looking out to Kirkjufell. So amazing views, but at ground floor level it affords no privacy! There’s a great communal kitchen - very clean and well appointed with coffee, tea, sugar, oil and condiments etc provided. Very sweet lady on reception at arrival - her English wasn’t great but she was very welcoming.
There is little walking in the immediate area (and you need to walk along the “main road” - a relative concept in Iceland! - to go anywhere). However you can walk to the nearby waterfall and it’s worth doing.

The view of Kirkjufell mountain was amazing. We stayed in apt 6 the first night and was fabulous. I would recommend asking for this apt. it was spacious, had great view. It had bedroom separate from living room and kitchen. the bathroom was super spacious. it also had a nice balcony. They are close to town and waterfall. there is only 3 restaurants in the town. We went to Kaffi 59 both nights and it was good.
We had made 2 separate reservations as it would not let me book a room for two nights after I booked it for one night. They would not let us stay in the same room so we had to move rooms. The 2nd night we were in Room 12 in the main building with 5 other rooms. There was a common area and registration area right outside our door. It was extremely noisy till after midnight as the group that had 4 rooms were drinking and being noisy. The room the 2nd night was very small and did not have a refrigerator or anything. We were spoiled after having apt 6 the first night. This is great property but you need to be careful of what room you are getting. I think rooms 9-12 are in the main building which you want to avoid. no breakfast included.

This place will be always in your hearts! ❤️ the accommodation was brill for a family. Our apartment had 2 bedrooms and an open space leaving room/kitchen. So, kids had their own room which was great! The view on Kirkjufell is breathtaking and… the main memory was - this was our first time to see aurora which was dancing above the Kirkjufell mountain! Amazing place and lots of memories for us. One things that made me smile - our keys were left inside the locker as we arrived after 8pm. The place is calm, relaxing, safe and absolutely beautiful! The sound of river flow and ice cracking at night added to the overall impression too! Standing at night listening to the nature and looking at the sky…what can be better! Totally amazing experience! Thank you! X
All was brill! I wish we could stay longer.
