Hotel Fransiskus had the friendliest reception staff I've experienced in years. She offered to help us with dinner reservations at the three restaurants open for dinner and gave us information about the area. The location is fantastic, right off of the harbor. The room was clean with standard amenities (coffee, tea, etc.). Although we had the last room available, we still had a view of the sea, even if we had a view of the roof and some pipes as well. The included breakfast offered a broad selection of pastries, fruit, and cereals. Overall, great stay.

Not a bad thing, just a fact. Rooms are on the small side. We had the standard double. There is a wardrobe to store clothes, but it can be a challenge to decide what to do with luggage, particularly if you are just there for a night and don't want to fully unpack. We chose to think of this as part of the charm and a reminder that we now think of excess as "normal."

Booking our specific room via Daniel just prior to arriving went without any hitch and was extremely helpful and pleasant. Our room felt like the prize-accomodation of the hotel, with window to the north (northern lights) and the west (harbor)! The personel was amazing and accomodating, the breakfast varied and well tended to. Daniel was like a breath of home-away-from-home, humorous and engaging, with thoughtful insight. The location is absolutely unbeatable! The nuns who tend to the sick in the adjacent hospital unobtrusively flavor the environs. Thanks for everything!

We stayed December 31 - January 1, so there were no restaurants or stores open nearby to eat. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating to us and other guests by allowing us to use their kitchen in order to prepare dinner. Very interesting building, being a former retreat center. Cute town at the north-east part of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. There are several things you can see/get to. A short drive out of town and away from the town lights, and we were able to see the Northern Lights. If we had gone during another time of year, we probably could have enjoyed the town more.

Nothing.

The location is excellent—the hotel is right next to the harbor. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The overall atmosphere feels a bit unusual, as it reminds us of a hospital, and in a way, we are almost living in a church. However, this doesn’t take away from the experience, as the staff is very friendly and welcoming.

The only thing I would suggest improving is the breakfast. While there is plenty to choose from, it would be nice to have some hot options like eggs, bacon, or similar dishes.

The hotel is a historic hotel, located in a monastery with a church on the main floor (a must visit). The rooms are renovated, and beautifully decorated, which gave us a nice comfy luxurious vibe. The views from the room were amazing. There is an elevator but it is quite unique and open, also you need to press the button all the way to each floor.

The bathroom was small and a bit outdated. The breakfast was on the basic side. There are many corridors, to the rooms and the breakfast area, so it was a bit confusing for us. Just ask for directions if you get lost.

- Amazing breakfast. So many tasty choices. Plant-based milk and yogurt also available. Veggies, fruit, cold cuts, cheese, salads, tuna, chicken, many breads, cookies, cereals, seeds. It was fantastic! - Extremely helpful staff - we had an issue with our booking and they were able to sort it out - Comfortable bed

- The bathroom was a bit too small - but it is good enough - There is no kettle inside the room - but there is a coffee machine

The property was well located with parking nearby and fantastic ocean views. There is a nice restaurant down the road.

The breakfast buffet for limited and the staff was impolite. We were eating breakfast within the stipulated hours and one of female staff members wrapping up, folding chairs etc noisily even before we were finished. When we politely asked her to stop, she behaved passive aggressively. This was unlike what we had experienced in Iceland

Unusual hotel located near the harbor. Rooms very clean and warm, although basic. Check-in was entertaining with Daniel who had a good sense of humor. There is a small Catholic chapel located on site right next to reception -a little unusual - and some interesting murals in the stairway. Good hot and cold buffet breakfast included in the price. We had a fabulous display of the Northern lights from the carpark despite the light pollution. I can also recommend Sjávarpakkhúsið down on the harbour for some excellent local seafood

A bit pricey. One of the most expensive places we stayed in Iceland

Everything: Very new building: large room and bathroom, (we were in a familiar bedroom) comfortable beds and clean. Very good and complete breakfast. Good location, in the middle of the town, close to the harbour and the house light from where we saw northern lights. Take care if you arrive late in the night because the front door is not obvious to open. Check before leaving. The reception is empty so we had to call the person in charge and he came quickly from outside also.

The room had the best view of our trip. We had three windows with a large window facing the Atlantic Ocean and the marina. The hotel is conveniently located nearby restaurants and attraction. The price was overall steep but the quality of the room and the facilities generally superior to every other hotel we stayed at during the trip.

There was a TV in the room but it did not work. The staff at breakfast was rude and not accommodating.
