The location of the hotel was perfect, the view was nice and even though the apartments are all at the bottom floor, it didnt bother us. The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. The temperature inside, even with a raging storm, was pleasant. We liked that there was a tv and Netflix, but the remote didnt work so we didnt get to enjoy it much. Dimming curtains were also perfect!
The tv remote was broken and there was no replacement. This normally wouldnt bother us, but with raging storm and high winds we were stuck inside more than we'd like. The neighbours were quite noisy in the mornings. The common kitchen has a bad layout, when people cook, no one can get the utensils and plates out of the cabinets because everyone is in the way. Oven also happened to be broken. The bathroom was rather modern looking but the air sits there and it gets a musky smell fast after showering. Internet also randomly cut at 23.00 until morning the next day. And my partner deemed the toilet bowl to be too small for a grown man. Overral experience was good, so despite the negatives we felt that the apartment was suitable and well priced.

The view was wonderful but there was almost nothing to do in town. I walked the whole thing in about 30 minutes—neighborhoods, docks and main road. There’s a liquor store, a small grocery store and a restaurant literally across the road from the guesthouse that I didn’t know about until I was leaving. Also, steps away as you turn to the main road I saw a crude sign that said ‘gallery’, so I wandered over to check it out. Made my day! A true Icelandic older man with rimmed spectacles who does the most incredible stone carvings! Definitely worth a visit. I could only buy a small—but beautiful and moving carving—because of the size/weight of all the other pieces?
No host on site, pretty basic accommodations, not much to do in town—and unrelenting, howling winds the whole time I was there.

This is a Guesthouse/ Hostel and was very comfortable. It felt a lot like a small budget hotel. There are a good number of rooms. Be mindful that you have a steep staircase to traverse so plan accordingly with your baggage. We had just one night in a backpack instead of dealing with suitcases. Each room was cleanly appointed and ours had a private bath. Im not certain if they all do. Bathroom had a good shower and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of outlets and all the things you want in a room. There is a common kitchen which was busy in the morning. The space was quiet in the overnight and has a beauiful view of Kirkufell and the waterfront. Grundarfjordur is a good sized town and has plenty of food and fuel options available. Very good location. Definitely recommended.
The front door at the bottom of the stairs wouldn't close all the way and a lot of cold air circulated through this door due to the high winds on the day that we were there.

The owners or people who worked there were very, very nice and welcomed :) The room was super clean, also bathroom, also towels and cups in the room. We really appreciated it. The view is amazing, also locality :) The hotel/room were also warm, good wifi connection so you can plan your activities.
common kitchen is good idea, maybe we would appreciate dish washer. Also I was happy that we had slippers because you need to put your shoes off on ''receptionist'' and if I would not have slippers, I would be not comfortable with walking on the halls or in shared kitchen just in socks, so maybe warning before coming would be for guests nice :) But despite of these tiny things, I would stay here again.

Quick check-in. Clean room. Comfortable beds. There was no problem in providing us with extra pillows. Very effective block-out curtains. Had a wonderful view of Kirkjufell mountain from our room. The building is right next to the water. There is a restaurant nearby, just past the parking area. We had dinner at another restaurant, the Harbour Cafe, which is within walking distance, which was very good. We only used the shared kitchen for breakfast. It was clean and had everything we needed.
We stayed in a room (not an apartment), which was quite small. The shared kitchen's cupboards are a bit dated. No fault of the property (they do have notices regarding noise), but children were running up and down the corridor until late.

Location is perfect! View is amazing! Also a perfect little kitchenette for our needs..nice details! Indoor access felt much more secure. It was also quiet; we had neighbors in the rental but never heard them. Black out curtains were wonderful. Personnel met us and showed us to the apartment, very responsive and were willing to work with us on our arrival time. :)
Some improvements that would not be difficult: Shower needs a lip around it to keep the water where it belongs or supply a floor squeegee to dry the floor more quickly. 5 ppl showering..a lot of wet floor despite being careful. Also would suggest adding a mirror in a commons area or in the bedrooms: we were 5 ppl and had to share a bathroom mirror. We didn't have enough hot water for 5 ppl to shower. I don't know if this was because I pulled the "card" near the door to turn off all the lights as we left? Or if we shared a water heater?

We booked a 2 bedroom+living room apartment in this building, it was a nicely furnished, modern apartment at a great price. The host lady was very kind to us, checking in was easy. There are restaurants, cafés, and a gallery nearby. And the view... OMG the from there is unbelievable, the building is next to the bay, overlooking Kirkjufell mountain. Watching the northern lights from there was such an uplifting experience. If you want to explore the Snaefellsnes peninsula, Grundarfjördur is a great location to stop at with such a beautiful scenery, surrounded by the mountains, and booking this apartment is highly recommended.

Stöð Guesthouse is located in central Grundarfjordur near the supermarket/liquor store/gas station and just across the bay from Kirkjufell mountain. The rooms are modest, but clean and comfortable with good Wi-Fi. There is a fully-stocked community kitchen with plenty of tables and seating for travelers. I enjoyed my time at Stöð Guesthouse and do recommend it for a one-night Ring Road stay.
Kitchen gets crowded early in the morning and the refrigerators fill up, so plan your stay accordingly.

The special thing about this place, which in my opinion was the best option for traveling in Iceland, was that the rooms were like hotel rooms with private bathrooms. At the same time, they had a fully equipped kitchen, which you typically don't get in a hotel but is essential when traveling in Iceland to cook meals and store groceries in the fridge. They also gave excellent restaurant recommendations. We went to the restaurant next to the guesthouse and had one of the best dinners of our trip to Iceland. The restaurant felt like a Michelin-starred establishment. It was expensive, but definitely worth it. Thanks for your recommendations and for the wonderful, comfortable service!

The location was great: near the town centre, right next to the shore, with amazing views of the Kirkjufell mountain. The Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall and Kirkjufell mountain itself were just a few minutes drive away. There was a restaurant right next to the guesthouse. The guesthouse had its own car park with plenty of spaces. We had no problems with parking our car, even though we arrived very late. There were no problems with late check in either. The room was not very big, but it was clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. The beds were comfortable, and there were thick curtains on the window, which helped us to have proper sleep despite the midnight sun. The bathroom was clean, the toiletries and towels were provided. Wifi worked fine. There was no kettle in the room, but there was a large shared kitchen with a dining area located on the same floor. It had everything we needed to prepare and eat a meal, or just to make some tea or coffee.
The room was located on the upper floor, but there was no lift, so we had to carry our luggage upstairs. Not a huge problem to us, though, just something to be aware of. Please also note that the guests are supposed to leave their shoes and boots downstairs (there is a shoe rack provided), so make sure to bring your slippers.
