This property surprised me in a very pleasant way, and exceeded my expectations! When I booked it, the property looked a bit understated, and I knew it was a self check in. What the Northern Comfort Inn may not show as much on the outside, it makes up for on the inside with a very excellent property. First of all, the view across a lake and up to a mountain was stunning. You could not ask for a better view. The self check in was very easy, and the hotel was spotless. There were a lot of maps and local information which I really appreciated, as we needed some guide information for our trip. There was an open kitchen available where you could either prepare a meal or keep your food in a freezer or refrigerator. That was extremely helpful and something many properties do not have. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. I had hurt my back earlier in the day and the bed was a delight. They had an extra charging cord set up which was another extremely helpful detail they had that many hotels do not. They were near a very nice playground area if you're traveling with children, and the town is gorgeous. Would LOVE to stay here again!

The staffs are very nice. The property is super clean. I am very impressed with the commercial tableware clean system. All the tableware are clean and in good condition. The shared kitchen not only has a lot of kitchenware including knife/peeler/scissor, but also has salt/pepper/cooking oil. The shared kitchen also has refrigerator and a good coffee machine. This property has a large common area: sitter room and dining area. The rooms are clean and furniture are in good condition. There is a lake nearby and this property offers kayak for free.

No hair dryer

We really liked the flexibility that the communal kitchen gave us, especially with the eye-watering costs of dining-out here. Our room was spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable. The lounges and dining areas were an added bonus.

The wet-room and shower curtain were annoying to use, as always! But at least a floor squeegee was provided. There was no room in the refrigerator in the kitchen to store anything, and the freezer needed defrosting.

I love the free coffee and tea from this hotel. Nice friendly staff. The hotel sits in front of a lake. Boating and kayaking are free for guests but it was too cold for us. Free laundry service was definitely a great plus for our 18 day trip. We spent 2 nights here to go to Grímsey which was very convenient because it is a short 20 minutes drive to Dalvík to catch the ferry. Walking distance to the public pool and sauna. Beautiful Mountain View all around. The very best part was the free use of their professional kitchen. I was so happy to make some meals there!!! Great value and can’t wait to come back!!!

The property had all we needed. Excellent large shared kitchen which looks to have been built to support a restaurant. Large shared area for eating and relaxing. All the plates, cutlery, etc that you would need for meals. Industrial sanitizing dishwasher, so you can be assured the dishes are clean. Automatic espresso/coffee machine. Quiet sitting room upstairs. Good books on Iceland in the sitting areas, including books in birds. Tesla charger outside (but you can charge at the local pool for free if you have the correct charge cable for your car). Staff was super helpful! The room was very comfortable, washroom was excellent. We had lots of space in the room. The shared spaces in this building encourage interaction with other guests. It was very quiet when we were there. Highly recommended. Would definitely go back!

This was my first time in Olafsfördur and at the Northern Comfort Inn and my expectations were exceeded 10x over. The rooms are great, the amenities are modern and cozy, the coffee is free and flowing, and the activities are abundant. All is included, from the billiards table to the free kayaks and équipement to be utilized at the stunning lake the property sits on. The owner is pleasant and helpful and conversing with him was another highlight in and of itself. I would highly recommend staying here whenever you find yourself in this charming northern town.

We arrived earlier, so the staff made sure our room was made ready. Nice room, comfy bed, beautiful sitting area to dine in (no restaurant, but make yourself). The hotel really goes above and beyond, they're so customer friendly oriented! They offer so many free things to use, for example: They have a pooltable you can use for free, even kayaks! You can grab fresh towels whenever you want and if you want new linen on your bed you only need to ask.. Also free coffee machine.

The pillow is too high.

The hotel has a fully equipped restaurant kitchen to use for cooking your meals. The dining and lounge areas are full of windows overlooking the water and mountains that surround you. There are free laundry facilities, billiards and parking. They even offer kayaks for guests to use on the water across the street from the lodging.

the house was very well decoated. very clean and new. which was suprised us a lot. there was few room rent out that night so we have plenty of public space to enjoy. the facilities inside was amazing. there is a landry for free use which is quite a lot good comments. there is a big room on ground flour snooker table for free use as well. what amazed us most was the super big and fully equiped kitchen!!

We loved everything here. The ability to use the commercial kitchen, access to washer and dryer, location, friendly owner, free coffee tea and hot chocolate 24/7. Beds were comfy, bathroom floors were heated. A 20 minute drive to Dalvik if you’re there for whale watching. Really good value for money. Awesome place - stay here!

There was nothing we didn’t like. Would go back in a heart beat.
