The cottage was too small and too basic. However the owner managed to move us into an apartment on day 2 which was much better. It had a lot more space and everything we needed. I would highly recommend the apartments.

Our only problem was the cottage was too small and had no cups but as I said before we were moved to an apartment that was lovely.

We had an entire cottage for a very reasonable price! There is a large entryway, kitchen, sitting room, bedroom, bathroom and a patio with a wonderful view. The location is in beautiful area with picturesque landscapes.

There were no blackout curtains which made it difficult to sleep during our stay in July. Additionally, while it is quiet and secluded, if you do not have food there is no nearby restaurants or grocery stores.

The two cottages that we booked for our family group were perfect for our needs - well appointed and very comfortable. They were a much appreciated stopping off point on our Route 1 road trip and a great opportunity to prepare a few meals for ourselves. The location is stunning and extremely easy to find with plenty of parking.

Nothing could have been better.

Simple, quiet, well-equipped (with basic amenities) apartment located in the university community of Holar. The apartment provided good value for money, and I would recommend it for anyone needing basic accommodations out in the countryside.

It was fine and met all our requirements. This is basic (budget) accommodation, but you get a good deal on it.

We enjoyed a good time in two adjacent and spacious apartments, which were well-equipped and comfortable.

Just a very, very minor point, but we really missed some curtains to darken the bedroom at a time when the sun doesn’t really set. The light shine-through curtains that are there are not very handy. Alternatively: bring a sleeping mask ;-)

The place itself is gorgeous 🥰. Will definitely stay if we are around the area. Gustav (sorry if the spelling is wrong) at the front desk was a very kind & knowledgeable gentleman. Checking was flawless I entered the place at 1am. Great paid back ambient in the restaurant nearby in the university.

I had to drive off my track, which I am sure an issue for others I would love to see if they could add some food warming equipment. Since the stores are not close by..

The location and surrounding. All by ourselves. Washing machine was a nice surprise.

Television did not work, no matter what button you pressed on the remote, nothing was happening. The coaxial connector was damaged due to the sofa bed opening on the plug from previous tenants. Instructions to operate TV and or remote would have been appreciated.

+ Very efficient organisation for check-in procedure (got a detailed email in advance) + Reception staff very friendly and efficient + Both breakfast and dinner food were fantastic, in particular I loved the arctic char cooked in two ways (one smoked and other baked with herbs). + The wood cabin was very well equipped and had everything we need. + Hólar is a beautiful quaint village with many landmarks to see (church, horse farm, university...). It is also convenient as a base to drive around as within a 50km radio - including Akureyri and Siglufjordur. + Reasonable quality-price ratio when comparing to other lodging in the area in high season.

The location was absolutely beautiful. Even though its a little drive from route 1, its totally worth it. We reached the cottage very late, the host messaged me with the code for the lock box. The rooms were big enough and the beds comfy. The best part was the peaceful, beautiful location. One of the cottages we stayed in had a kitchen which was well equipped with all the necessary dishes. Towels and clean bed linens were provided. We didn't eat breakfast on-site, so cannot comment on that. Each cottage had parking for atleast one vehicle.

Originally we booked an Apartment without Kitchen, Couple days before we asked what was in the area for food and of a kettle or microwave was included, The host upgraded us to a Cottage with a full kitchen. At the back there are flats and behind is lots of woodland great in winter to sledge down.. The snow was deep! Will be good in summer lots to explore.
