Bodhgaya has a wonderful secret: Sakura House! In all of the chaos of Bihar, I find serenity with the staff of Sakura Hotel who I am pleased to call my friends. Dip Agrawal runs this friendly hotel that is pleasant and serving delicious food. As a bonus, I love to play with his friendly little dog! I cannot recommend him or his establishment more highly.   Dip helps them. He knows India well and is happy to arrange custom tours ‘walking in the footsteps of Buddha,’ visiting Mother Teresa’s mission in Calcutta, or even a trip over the Himalayas into neighboring Nepal.

Everything was outstanding. The owner and the staff were so friendly that you become part of their extended family. For Japanese people this is the only place to stay. I will come again and tell my relativres to visit. Everyone is so nice to the extent that you will become addictive to their charm and the charm of Bohd Gaya. They are very versatile in their tour arrangements and can do various tours to see Bohd Gaya and Nalanda and even long distance trips to visit the 4 sacred cities of India including Nepal, if their resources are available and at great prices. So you should ask for anything before you visit.

Everything was wonderful including the sight seeing arranged for me. But while it is customary to sit on the rear seat of a motor cycle up to three somes without helmets, if you are like me an old person nearly in the 60s and want to avoid risk, tell the owner you want a car or a tuk tuk to pick you up, which is what I did for mid to long distance.

The staff was very friendly, helpful in everything, ready to satisfy all our wishes, even anticipating them. The location is very good, not so far from the main temple, and not near the road, which was important, since the roads in Bodhgaya are quite noisy, the rooms were quite quiet both day and night. The room had hot water and everything necessary for a couple of days. The owner made sure that we had rooms with a beautiful view of the main stupa, although we did not even ask for it. In general, everything was great, better than in other places and guest houses in India, which we visited on this trip. We wish this guest house prosperity and good guests.

Tourists flock to worship here to Bodhgaya, many on pilgrimage, especially from Buddhist nations. His Holiness the Dalai Lama holds court with tens of thousands in audience every December in an event known as “Kalachakra.” Many stay in the clean, friendly budget hotel known as Sakura House.   Sakura House is a budget hotel and a great stay option for budget travelers who just want to tour the historic city. Gaya city and the airport are about four miles away. Sakura House has a total of fifteen comfortable rooms offering relaxing accommodation to the guests. The hotel has a 24-hour front desk service and a complimentary breakfast.

The best thing about this is the location. Not only are you at a walking distance from everything but you can easily get into a tuktuk if you don't want to walk. The location is slightly tucked in from the main road which makes it quieter than others. The second best thing about Sakura house is its manager, Ravi. He was very helpful and cheerful. Every single day he made sure that all our needs were met. He arranged cabs to the airport and to visit Nalanda at a reasonable price. There are mosquito repellents in the rooms that you need switch on once you get in. We had no problem with that. The cleanliness was good.

The owners need to maintain the property a bit better. All doors and their frames need at least basic coats of paint. The bathroom taps and toilet need caulking. A very small effort will go a long way towards improving the look and feel of the property.

Great location, all main sights were in walking distance. The host was supernice and service-oriented. We had a late train and they allowed us to stay in our room after checkput until we had to leave for the train. Also, he organized a taxi for us and made sure that we had everything that we need. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a good value for money!

The bed was a bit on the hard side, but that has been the same in that price range in India so far, so everything good :)

I had an excellent stay at Sakura Hotel in Bodh Gaya! The hotel is conveniently located near the Mahabodhi Temple, making it easy to explore the area. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, providing a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always available to assist with any needs. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is peaceful and welcoming, making it a perfect base for anyone visiting Bodh Gaya. Highly recommended!

The shower was easier to operate than some places in India (no fiddling with pre-heating or a separate heating unit). You can ask for a top sheet. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Room was sizable enough. There was a TV, but I never turned it on. Easy walk to the stupa and to some great restaurants.

Towels were quite heavily stained, though they seemed clean and were actually very soft! Bed linens were fine. Walls had a lot of dead mosquitos and blood smears, so I went through and cleaned all that up so I wouldn't be grossed out - then it felt much nicer. There were occasional mosquitos in the room, but generally that seemed manageable. A little more attention to details on cleaning would be nice.

Visited Bodh Gaya with friend and loved our stay in Sakura. Got ourselves a room where we saw beautiful sunrises and the tip of the mahabodhi temple. It's fabulous compared to the price you pay. Quite safe for female travellers and the beds are super comfortable to wind down after a long day covering different monasteries in Bodh Gaya which are situated roughly within 1km radius, which is super convenient!!

Extremely friendly staff; we greatly enjoyed our stay there. My partner especially liked how homely it was and thought it the best accommodation throughout our whole trip with great value for money. Prime location and we were upgraded to a bigger room on arrival. The breakfast was homely and filling too. Thank you Sakura House, and we hope to visit you again soon! :)
