I had a wonderful experience during my stay at this hotel. The customer service truly stood out, the staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Every interaction felt genuine and welcoming, which made a huge difference. Another major highlight is the hotel’s strategic location. Being just a short walking distance from Pondy Bazar, it was incredibly convenient for shopping, dining, and exploring the local area. Location Location Location. In the heart of of the hotel Tnagar/behind pondy bazar. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe in the hotel. Staffs are ver friendly and polite. The property is in the heart of the city yet quiet during night. Surrounded by lots of famous eateries. Decent size double room with cosy bedding. Could be a little squeeze for a family of 3. Room was clean with tea/coffee making facility. Perfect resting place for shopping needs. Shops are all walkable distance.

1) No hangers in the wardrobe. No toiletries except handwash. 2) Breakfast was not worth. Hardly 4 items - Pongal, Vadai, Uthappam, Tea/coffee.. No fruit or Juice. 3) Early check-in fee - The property charges 900INR if you would like to check in earlier than their standard timing 11am. Booking was made for 2 nights but required only for 1.5 days they still didn't allow early checkin. I couldn't spend extra money hence had to wait in their lobby for nearly 5 hours.

The hotel staff are fantastic - everyone from the lovely reception team to housekeeping to the watchman were so caring and looked after us well. Before arrival the hotel called and checked with us when we would be arriving. After we checked in, the reception team called to check if we were comfortable with our rooms and if we needed anything else. They provided us with enough bottled water daily that we didn't need to buy it ourselves which was really nice. Rooms were nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. The location is also great. Very close to the major shopping area, restaurants nearby, and auto rickshaws always available. Everything was within walking distance.

I hope they put shower curtains in the shower so that the washroom area remains dry. That's the only negative I can think of.

My experience at Upar T.Nagar Hotel was excellent. Being a solo traveller, I felt safe throughout my stay here. The staff Nisha, made sure I felt comfortable and constantly checked if everything was okay. She was incredibly friendly, which made me feel right at home despite traveling alone. The whole housekeeping team made sure the rooms are kept clean. One of the highlights of the experience was the location. Upar T.Nagar was conveniently located near key attractions, shops, and restaurants, making it easy to explore the area without spending too much time traveling. Overall, my solo stay was smooth, stress-free, and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for solo travellers.

Very convenient, walking distance to shopping, bars and restaurants. Felt safe in the area. Staffs are very friendly and caring. I enjoyed chatting with them. Good breakfast.

The bed was not comfortable. There's no refrigerator in the room. I can't keep cold drinks in the room in a hot 36 deg temperature. False advertising, actual is not the same as pictures on the website. That was disappointing. Should be cleaned every day not upon request.

Clean and well maintained. All the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was superb, no complaints. Closest to Pondy Bazaar and all other destinations. Just by a stroll you could land into the street of Pondy Bazaar. Plenty of restaurants and a bar along the hotel which also connects to the high street. You can just simply get an Auto right in front of the hotel whom always stationed there. Nice, humble and honest guy (around 50 yrs of age). He will take you around with lowest cost compare to the rest, no regrets at all and you can bank on him throughout the day whenever you need his Auto. Definitely will comeback to UPAR Pondy Bazaar.

Just one of the bathroom light wasn’t working but isn’t a big deal. Perhaps best to check prior releasing the room to guest like how they does it when we checked out.

Kept very clean, management make the effort to ask you every day if they can clean the room, something often neglected in other hotels, so top marks there. Breakfast was excellent, tasty Indian options, decent coffee machine a bonus. Location fine, easy access to shops and a 20 minute walk along a nice wide pavement to the metro station. Staff were very kind and helpful.

Ensuite full of the disinfectant balls you might regularly find in a public urinal back in Europe, so slightly overpowering smell. Laundry service was a guy waiting outside the entrance who you have to go chat to, but I thought he was expensive (60 rupees per pair of socks). Walked to a local outfit around the corner (Rolex Dry Cleaning), who were cheaper.

Excellent hotel and ambiance, staffs are very kind, hotel breakfasts was delicious, no electricity and water shortages, strong connection of wifi, spacious room at very affordable prices. Walking distance to Pondy Bazar and UPAR is located in a very strategic location. Definitely my first choice again when i visit Chennai.

The property is very close to the shopping hub of t-nagar. Al shops are within walking distance. The front office staff were very polite and the check-in process hassle free. During check out we had left one of our shopping bag in the room and left, the staff had kept it safe until we came back and took it. The room as such was compact for a family of 2. The toilet was clean and spacious.

The rooms were not sound proof, we could hear the conversation happening in the corridor, which was annoying in the night. The extra mattress provided was very uncomfortable it was very springy and a creaking noise was always audible whenever one turns or moves. Dental kit was not provided. Price is slightly on the higher side.
