The property is unbelievable, a palace from a bygone era! the staff were excellent and more than accommodating, the building itself is steeped in history and while old, more than met our requirements. the entrance and lounge/dining room/sitting room/library are like a museum and worth the stay for that alone. Food was pretty good and our room was also a trip back in time - our room, the Maharaja's Chamber, is huge - sitting room, dining room/entry lobby/bedroom and bathroom...more like a small apartment!. The Bissau Royal family actually live on the second floor and the Maharajah's son came out to play cricket with the staff at one point.

Not much!...The building itself is needing some TLC in parts unfortunately, but overall, its a time warp - simply amazing! It was the off season and the bar was dry - the place screams G&T on the verandah after a day out and the staff graciously accommodated that request by procuring a bottle of Gin and a bottle of wine.

Bissau Palace is a delightful gem nestled amid the vibrant energy of Jaipur. Stepping into its enchanting embrace, we felt like we stepped into a part of history that’s unchanged. Our encounter with the owner (Manu) on the first night was heartwarming. He graciously shared the palace and city's captivating history, weaving us into the narrative. We learnt how to fly kites during the evenings, and had a special Rajasthani Thali for dinner at the rooftop. The rooftop is magnificent during the evenings with kites embracing the pink sky akin to stars in the night sky. Throughout our stay, Bissau Palace consistently treated us like royalty. The service went above and beyond, creating an atmosphere that felt like a cherished (royal) home away from home. Beyond the regal ambiance, the culinary experience at Bissau Palace was nothing short of spectacular. We took a culinary journey of Rajasthan during our stay that showed us the rich history and diversity of the state through food. Ask the restaurant for the “bindi kurkure”, it is a dish that we will dream about for weeks to come. From our opinion, for those seeking an experience akin to royalty, Bissau Palace stands as the unrivaled destination that promises to make you feel truly regal. Hope you cherish this palace the way we will for years to come. + there were some cute dogs that can only benefit your stay. xx Tom & Gowri

This property has incredible charm to it. The history throughout is lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming and even invited my husband to play evening cricket with them, which he enjoyed. Although we didn’t go in the pool, we did read poolside and that was very relaxing.

We did have to change rooms as our first room didn’t feel clean. But, the staff were quick to fix this and changed our room not questions asked. We had organised a car for early morning pickup from the hotel to the train station on our departure day and it didn’t arrive. This left us in a hard situation trying to find a Tuktuk at 5am and wandering the streets. That was a bit of a let down as we double checked with the team it was booked.

The palace was absolutely beautiful, and the historical memorabilia was fascinating. The breakfast fare was vast and very good! The massage service was excellent, and very well priced. We were there over NYE and had the New Year Eve dinner which was tasty! The main man at the front desk was friendly, and very helpful throughout our stay.

We were originally allocated a room with twin beds, it was swapped without a fuss for one with a queen bed (as we had booked) but it was a little shabby, and didn't seem to meet the specs. of the standard room we had booked.

A stunning old property with a beautiful interior. Felt really lucky to have the chance to experience a stay here. We had the Maharaja Chamber, which was very spacious with beautiful old furniture and a four poster bed. Lovely staff including the gentleman at breakfast who kept checking whether we wanted more food or anything else. Another lovely older gentleman at reception. Had a nice pool which we didn’t use, but enjoyed watching a Kingfisher bird visit the water! Lounge, reading room /library very tasteful and elegant. A little gem of a place in a busy vibrant city.

Maybe requires a wee bit more maintenance. Like all old buildings, that need care and attention. We live in an old house so can understand that hot water is not always instant and the toilet cistern leaked a little. But honestly none of this bothered us. Just go with the flow and enjoy the ambiance and history of this wonderful building.

Who isn't going to like staying in somewhere as grand and beautiful as this. The pictures are exactly what you'll get. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the restaurant food delicious, best we had during our 4 weeks in India. Sitting in their beautiful lounge or on the veranda watching bats swooping over the swimming pool, drinking gin and tonic, was like being on a 40s film set .... except it's real! Highly recommended!

For us this added to the charm but it is an old building and it's conversion to a hotel happened in the 60s, everything works and is well maintained but don't expect modern, shiny fixtures and fittings. As is common with upmarket hotels the alcoholic drinks were closer to western than Indian prices

Good breakfast in a beautiful dining room. Overall a really beautiful heritage property with accommodating staff. Good value for money, would definitely recommend. Especially the rooms in the old part of the property which had been newly renovated.

The swimming pool area is a little run down, but pretty enough. No cushions on the limited number of sunbeds in the pool area. That said, the staff were accommodating and managed to help by finding some oversized sponge mattresses! A small criticism but no espresso coffee for breakfast, just Nescafe instant coffee... not to everyone's taste.

This hotel was seeped in cultural and history, a feast for the eyes. you could send a whole day taking in the information about the whole property. The property is obviously very old but the cultural aspect is wonderful. Relaxing and sitting in the lounge was a lovely time, lapping up the culture and history. This family run hotel was a lovely comfortable stay. the staff were very accommodating at every corner and helpful with any questions. The breakfast was so good and a good selection, they couldn't do enough for you and helped us pack a breakfast for our train journey. They did some laundry for us and it was great and so reasonable. We also had a couple of delicious Evening meals. I think i have had the BEST palak paneer, i have ever had and think how i can recreate it. We also had an amazing taxi driver called Nezir, he was incredible and drove us around and showed us all the sites over the three days we were there. Thank You to a wonderful man. Thank you for the time we had at The Bissau Palace.

I think the only thing i can say, is the electrics were a bit sparce in the room.

If you're looking for a place as a solo traveler, couple, or with family, or even business - this is a great place to stay! Pool, wifi, onsite restaurant for lunch/dinner, and a breakfast buffet. You even have a laundry service, wellness/spa center, and the opportunity to shop for clothes/jewelry onsite without leaving the hotel if you don't want to. The rooms are very nice and spacious and there are many lounging areas. The palace also has a few rooms that feel like a museum which is pretty cool.

Minor plumbing issues with flushing the toilet and semi-slow shower drain. Other than that - no major issues! Everything was great.

The Bissau place was an Ideal spot out of the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers good priced home cooked food and the breakfast was also very nice. The pool area was clean and very refreshing after a day of seeing the sights of Jaipur. Our room was in an annex just off of the main building, however we didn't mind as we basically had a private hotel to ourselves.

Yes, the hotel is a little tired in areas but for the price, staff, food and facilities I don't see how anyone can complain. The room didn't look like the photos on the booking but we didn't mind as our room was still very nice.
