The property is unbelievable, a palace from a bygone era! the staff were excellent and more than accommodating, the building itself is steeped in history and while old, more than met our requirements. the entrance and lounge/dining room/sitting room/library are like a museum and worth the stay for that alone. Food was pretty good and our room was also a trip back in time - our room, the Maharaja's Chamber, is huge - sitting room, dining room/entry lobby/bedroom and bathroom...more like a small apartment!. The Bissau Royal family actually live on the second floor and the Maharajah's son came out to play cricket with the staff at one point.

Not much!...The building itself is needing some TLC in parts unfortunately, but overall, its a time warp - simply amazing! It was the off season and the bar was dry - the place screams G&T on the verandah after a day out and the staff graciously accommodated that request by procuring a bottle of Gin and a bottle of wine.

The building is beautiful. Architecture, ornaments and decorations bring you back in long gone by days. Yet facilities like a modern bathroom, aircon, multiple ceiling fans and a nice swimming pool made our stay very comfortable. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff is the best we encountered during our 2 weeks in India. Specific mention to Mrs Yashikumari, the daughter of the Royal family who still owns Bissau Palace, for achieving to preserve this beautiful heritage. We were so lucky to witness a photoshoot in the palace for an Indian fashion designer of stunning saree’s. Seeing the beautiful models in their intricate gold and silver embroidered gowns posing like princesses was a lot of fun and added to the Royal ambiance.

The contrast with the street life right outside the premises is sharp. We were okay walking the dirt streets with stray dogs, intense smell and scents, a chaos of bikes, TucTuc and even horse pulled carts. But other parts of Jaipur definitely are more representative of modern day India and nicer to go about than this neighborhood. Breakfast is sumptuous with pancakes, fresh fruit and eggs Indian or Western style. But dinner which we had once at Bissau Palace, was much like some other restaurants in Jaipur, not fantastic. It wasn’t terrible though.

We visited Jaipur for some sightseeing and chose to stay at Bissau Palace since it was close to all the spots we wanted to explore. The hotel is centrally located near the Pink City and while the streets outside are noisy and chaotic, the moment you step inside the property it feels calm and serene. Our room was spacious and clean. What truly stood out was the hospitality of the staff. They were kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a comfortable stay. We also really enjoyed the food at the in-house restaurant and ended up having many of our meals there. Since this is a heritage hotel, you’ll notice glimpses of history throughout the property, which made wandering around and observing details all the more enjoyable. Overall, I’d recommend Bissau Palace to anyone looking for comfort, warm hospitality, and a convenient location close to Jaipur’s must-see attractions.

Our room could have used a bit more lighting, but that was a minor detail and didn’t take away from our overall experience.

Bissau Palace is a delightful gem nestled amid the vibrant energy of Jaipur. Stepping into its enchanting embrace, we felt like we stepped into a part of history that’s unchanged. Our encounter with the owner (Manu) on the first night was heartwarming. He graciously shared the palace and city's captivating history, weaving us into the narrative. We learnt how to fly kites during the evenings, and had a special Rajasthani Thali for dinner at the rooftop. The rooftop is magnificent during the evenings with kites embracing the pink sky akin to stars in the night sky. Throughout our stay, Bissau Palace consistently treated us like royalty. The service went above and beyond, creating an atmosphere that felt like a cherished (royal) home away from home. Beyond the regal ambiance, the culinary experience at Bissau Palace was nothing short of spectacular. We took a culinary journey of Rajasthan during our stay that showed us the rich history and diversity of the state through food. Ask the restaurant for the “bindi kurkure”, it is a dish that we will dream about for weeks to come. From our opinion, for those seeking an experience akin to royalty, Bissau Palace stands as the unrivaled destination that promises to make you feel truly regal. It’s a small traditional haveli - the palace of the ruler of Jhunjhunu. Has beautiful murals, and the sitting and dining areas in particular are delightful. The paintings, glass walls and ceilings, the library, photographs and royal memorabilia can keep one engaged. The food is excellent- the gatta curry, Lal Maas, pithod ki sabzi, papad ki sabzi, katha - all traditional Rajasthani dishes- were really a treat.

The shelves were a little dusty, as were the room corners or behind the furniture. For an asthmatic like me that was a problem. There was no arrangement for drivers. The telephone was not working.

Meals were excellent, and staff attentive ! Room was large, and bed very comfortable (always good to get a good nights sleep!). Shower was just right, nice hot water too !! Hussain our taxi driver, (perhaps on the hotel's favoured taxi driver 'list'?), was just the right combination of 'getting it right', and not pushing us here and there ! We have been to Jaipur many times , and we (generally) knew, where we wanted to go !! All-in-all, just what we wanted !!!

Usual pollution, and terrible traffic (in the town), just seems to have got really bad nowadays !

We loved the old world charm of this hotel. The building is like stepping back in time. It provides a peaceful oasis in the hubbub of Jaipur, whilst being very centrally located. The bedroom suites are huge. The food in the restaurant is delicious, we would highly recommend eating in the hotel. The staff went above and beyond to meet our needs. My daughter had her birthday at the hotel. The staff decorated our table, made her a cake, fired a confetti cannon and organised a puppet show after dinner. A birthday that will always be remembered. They also organised our taxi to our next destination, at a good price.

The shower in our room did not always work, so we used the shower in our children's room, or the one at the swimming pool.

I described it to one of the owners as an "Oasis of peace and tranquility" in an area otherwise crazy with hustle bustle and traffic noise!! The whole experience was really excellent, from my first welcome to my emotional goodbye! I wanted to stay in a Heritage hotel with traditional decor and ambience. I was not disappointed. The palace is beautiful and charming, as were my hosts. Twinkle and Aandy are very fine people, and part of the fabric which makes this hotel so special. The low season enabled some restoration works which were fascinating to see. The food was so delicious that I didn't eat out! I will be bacK very soon.

I honestly can't say because I got exactly what I had been searching for.

The palace was absolutely beautiful, and the historical memorabilia was fascinating. The breakfast fare was vast and very good! The massage service was excellent, and very well priced. We were there over NYE and had the New Year Eve dinner which was tasty! The main man at the front desk was friendly, and very helpful throughout our stay.

We were originally allocated a room with twin beds, it was swapped without a fuss for one with a queen bed (as we had booked) but it was a little shabby, and didn't seem to meet the specs. of the standard room we had booked.

This property has incredible charm to it. The history throughout is lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming and even invited my husband to play evening cricket with them, which he enjoyed. Although we didn’t go in the pool, we did read poolside and that was very relaxing.

We did have to change rooms as our first room didn’t feel clean. But, the staff were quick to fix this and changed our room not questions asked. We had organised a car for early morning pickup from the hotel to the train station on our departure day and it didn’t arrive. This left us in a hard situation trying to find a Tuktuk at 5am and wandering the streets. That was a bit of a let down as we double checked with the team it was booked.
