A nice hotel that reminds me a bit of a time travel to the late 80s. Family with 3 children (6,9,11) The rooms are spacious and clean although the sheets and towels provided need updating. The mini bar did not work properly. Regarding the safe, it is not attached to the wall and they needed to replace it. The breakfast is good and varied and mainly suitable for the local diner. The staff should be positively mentioned, who did everything to satisfy our needs and prepare food to the children's taste. Cons - Loud music in the evening from a nearby entertainment venue.

In each unit we were surprised to find 2 big rooms which could easily accommodate 3 guests! There is a bed in the lounge area. And a double bed in the bedroom. Hotel is quite close to the Periyar shuttle bus stop. An auto rickshaw which can easily accommodate 3 pax charged ₹50/- to drop us there. Food at the Cinnamon Restaurant in the hotel was very good. We tried the local fish curry which was delicious! We also used the Spa facility for foot massages which was relaxing after the long Nature Walk in the Periyar National Park.

A reply from the hotel would have been appreciated. I had asked if 3 people could be accommodated in the room but I did not receive any reply at all. In fact the auto reply was ridiculously irrelevant. I need not have booked 2 units. One would have been sufficient.

Very helpful and courteous staff. We were travelling with 8 month old baby and her food was very well taken care of by the restaurant inside the sterling thekady hotel.

Under-staffed restaurant. During breakfast, the restaurant was full. But the entire load fell on 4 waiters/stewards. This made breakfast experience little chaotic.

Property was great. But we anticipated a woody location because it's a forest destination But ended up on town main road. Hotel staff were very cordial and friendly. AC in the room was fuming dust and smell But given the weather we preferred to switch it off. But don't expect a typical sterling property as this is a leased property and not run by sterling directly.

Good location right in the centre. The reception staff, two ladies in particular was amazing and helped us loads with booking some trips and tuk tuks that weee a reasonable price without needing to negotiate.

I would have rated 10 stars but I left some headphones in the room, that were apparently not left there or seen my housekeeping but I 100% left them there and went back within a couple of hours to ask.

Room: The room was very spacious with a separate living room with a sofa bed and table. A dining table is also available. The room and hotel lobbies were very neat and clean. Food: Breakfast was good but not the best. The idli and vada was very good but had only 1 chutney. Facilities: Swimming pool was the highlight, as it is a rooftop pool with an amazing view. The staff were prompt in bringing pool towels on request. The pool was not a heated one, so might be difficult during winters, but I went in March, and so it was allright. Behavior: Staff was very welcoming and well behaved. We had ordered some food from outside which got cold after some time. The staff promptly helped us in heating it up on our request.

Room: The fridge was missing in our room even though there was space available for it. The view we got from the balcony was not a great one, but again that is room dependent. Food: Tea was a bit too strong and even though it was kept in a kettle, it was already a little cold. Soup was very average. Facilities: The children's play area is only for namesake, and the foosball table was unplayable. Behavior: Nothing to complain about.

Although requiring updating, the rooms were very comfortable. Each bedroom has a seperate lounge, so there is lots of room. The swimming pool is wonderful. Hotel is very central and excellent staff. Thanks to Prasanth and Prakash in the restaurant.

The view from the swimming pool is amazing. Kids had a wonderful time in the pool. The pool is well maintained and clean. The rooms were spacious and there was a separate living area. I suspect they gave us a free upgrade. I had booked the classic rooms but what I got was more like a suite. Complimentary Buffet Breakfast had enough options to choose from. There is a room for kids indoor games which has a small TT table, Foosball caroms etc.

Although there is a balcony, there isn't much of a view. Room service could have been better.
