EVERYTHING! Staying alone while my partner was doing a week of yoga in Ubud. I chose to travel far- nearly 2 hours taxi- from touristy Seminyak and Ubud to really 'Get Away'- and I wasn't disappointed! The area is still recovering from covid and finance problems, so has many derelict properties around- which I loved to explore - and litter pick. The farming has reclaimed a lot; cows on the beach and on 'previously Surf Shack resort' ground. The surviving Surfer Dude place nearby had bike hire at £3.00 per DAY- it is: 'Crazy cheap rates; dependable brakes; good insurance: Choose one'... there is better bike hire also nearby, I believe. A great experience was up some rickety stairs to the first floor Massage Platform: £5.25 for an hour of Balinese or relaxing massage- with the enormous surf sound as perfect therapy! SUNSETS: this and the surf is what the West coast is all about. North of Echo Beach - remember the song; 'Watch the sun go down'-I took many pics- and 26 videos of surf!- but won't post, as many are already visible online. The difference for me is that the main people around the beach are a few surfers, and mainly locals- fishing in the surf, and young families coming to drive on the sand- the beach is 2.7 Km, I believe- and enjoy the sunsets. Felt much more IN Bali than elsewhere. Inland- great little roads around rice terraces, jungle ravines, villages; no tourists. Along the coast- Fishing boat repair beach; other hotels with restaurants (not tried); local shops- Had great fun pointing at items and miming 'Headphone cable but not headphones' to shop workers who had no English. Fascinating timber industry- plus other rustic works- on the roadside. Challenge with ATMs- 'credit' and 'debit' titles were reversed... So good I returned for 2 days with my wife- she also loved it! Staff superb; food great. Happy customers; We'll be back!

Almost nothing, one exception: Litter- the hotel has staff cleaning up the beach at the hotel carefully, and effectively, and there are good bins everywhere- but away down the beach there is much evidence of takeaway food and drink packaging, flip flops and toothpaste tubes- spoiling this otherwise SUPERB beach. This is a shame- but can you change the kids' (?) habits without offending? I enjoyed litter picking- a bag of 50 plastic items each day- but more work is needed on this.

There are 2 pool areas, one pool is right on the beach and I could watch my family surf while relaxing in the pool. Meals are fantastic and you can have drinks and food as you watch the sun go down of a night which is just so special. The rooms are beautiful and clean. We hired motorbikes for our stay to get around. There is amazing places to go on adventures and walk through the villages. Everyone is super friendly. This is a place to stay if you are happy to relax and take time out. The surfing beaches are a must to go to if you love to surf.

Nice ambience for chilling. Nice outlook with plenty of flowers and bushes which gave privacy. Nice and quiet.

Location too far from airport and not much to do around location.Roads are a nightmare to which put you off going anywhere

We loved our stay here! The staff is very friendly and helpfull, they make you feel really welcome and help you with any questions. The accomodation is not to big, which gives a intimate feeling. The location was for us also perfect. It is in a village, away from the crowd but enough options for touristic and local food. You have breakfast at the beach, a few restaurant on walking distance and otherwise rent a scooter to go to medewi. The room was nice, specious and clean. You can take surfing lessons, they have beach towels and you can get a massage.

We woul love to come back sometime, great place.

Great property

Such a lovely hotel, situated directly at a beautiful long beach. Very modern, pretty rooms. Friendly staff. Very good food. Very good price to value ratio in my opinion. Wi-Fi well enough for me to work. Far away from the over crowded, over touristy south Bali. Restaurants/cafes with good food and coffee nearby. Just be aware, apart from surfing and enjoying the beach there is not so much to do in the area - so come to relax and/or surf. :)

The room was so spacious, it has two big pools so that's kinda cool. I like that I could sleep and didn't hear any neighbors. Guys are very helpful. Breakfast options were okay. But I was there for ten days so it would be nice not to have same every day. But staff are very nice.

There's almost nothing around, one surf cafe and shop.

We loved the staff…so friendly and so helpful. Couldn’t have been nicer! The name Wide Sands Retreat is just that….a retreat from the noise of the outside world to the tranquil sounds of the surf right outside your hotel. The infinity pool by the beach with its comfy long beds and umbrellas and shade trees looking over the long wide beach was perfect. The hotel seemed almost new but with beautiful Bali gardens and gorgeous rooms with plenty of space, great beds and plenty of hot water and pressure in the shower. One thing we really noticed after driving all the way around Bali and staying in 6 different resorts was in today’s world most hotels only had a bare minimum of power points! Wide Sands had many points to recharge all the mod cons of today. Oh, did I mention the surf? It was amazing and not one person out enjoying those great waves!!! If you’re a surfer you’ve got to get out to the west coast to Medewi Beach at Pulukan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We could not fault this property & as a matter of fact we plan to go back in a few weeks to stay longer.

We stayed for night nights., and now wished it was longer. The staff were exceptional! We wanted to adopt our driver as our own son. Reception was the most welcoming we’ve ever experienced - and we’ve travelled a lot. The service, maintenance and housekeeping teams were wonderful. Then there is the proximity to the ocean. The sound of which lulled me to sleep. We stayed in a cabana and it was very comfortable. The property was amazing, well kept grounds. We had the best massage ever - at a very reasonable price. Food was super, we especially enjoyed the fresh fruit in the morning- breakfast included of course. I cannot say enough good things about Wide Sands Beach Retreat. Well done!,

This resort is amazing. I can not vault this place. Rooms were lovely and clean with comfy beds. The staff were fantastic, nothing was an issue for them. Food was sublime, a little pricey, but you expect that from a resort. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind for a couple of days, then Wide Sands is the place to do it. Infinity pool overlooking the ocean? Tick, seating areas to enjoy diner and watch the sunsets? Tick. You'll need scooters if you want to see the sites as it's a bit further out. Loved our 2 night stay here.

There wasn't anything I didn't like. Keep doing what you are doing Wide Sands 👌👌
