We visited Gunung Paradise Retreat as a family of four, simply looking for a quiet place to relax and recharge. What we found was so much more — an experience that ended up touching us on a much deeper level. Nestled in the hills of North Bali, far from the crowded tourist areas, Gunung Paradise offers breathtaking views — though, truth be told, no photo can truly capture the magic of this place. You have to be there to feel it: the peace, the space, the spirit of the land. The owners are incredibly welcoming and passionate about local heritage and community. They made us feel right at home and generously shared their knowledge of the area, including a beautiful guided tour of the nearby village, where life moves at a slower, more meaningful pace. The food was delicious — fresh, local, and made with care — and the overall service exceeded our expectations. We weren’t seeking a spiritual retreat, but it gently found us. One of the highlights was meeting a gifted local healer. Her energy healing session and palm reading were both powerful and surprisingly accurate. One month later, I can still feel the positive impact it had on me — emotionally and energetically. Gunung Paradise isn’t just a retreat; it’s a place where something shifts inside you. If you're open to it, this tranquil hideaway might just be the turning point you didn’t know you needed.

The mosquitos

From the moment we arrived at Gunung Paradis Retreat we were impressed by the incredibly welcoming and attentive staff, making sure we had everything we needed. We stayed at Villa Jepun which was absolutely stunning – spacious, spotlessly clean, and well-equipped. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom very spacious. We particularly appreciated the little touches, like drinking directly from the tap as the water came directly from a natural well. The facilities were top-notch. The massage was great and it was an incredibly relaxing experience. We had booked the Rangdu Village walk and we highly recommend to take this excursion as you will experience the Bali life. The food was outstanding as well. Breakfast had a wide variety of options, and everything was fresh and delicious. The dinner menu was equally impressive, with several dishes to choose from. What really stood out for us was the hospitality. The staff, as well as Jack and Karien, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect, from offering great local recommendations to accommodating our special requests. It’s clear that customer satisfaction is their top priority. We absolutely recommend Gunung Paradis Retreat!

It was exceptionally clean, the cleanest place in bali. Very responsive staff. We loved Sudi our butler; he was so humble, helpful and kind (also to our 7 month old so ). Food was very good and when we asked for it to be spicier they accommodated. (just fyi there is no restaurant and all food is served at your villa). And overall just a really chill few days.

The place is not in munduk and is at least 20 minute drive from activities etc. yes it’s a lovely chill vibe and nice to escape the hustle and bustle but you will need a car / driver to get to anything (bars, restaurants and hiking / waterfalls etc).

Surrounded by the beauty of the land, nature; it is impossible not to feel grateful. The food was incredible, and the staff were so warm and attentive. They felt like family. Excursions were easy to organize. The activities on-site were amazing. The balinese palm reading was a beautiful touch and experience. We can't tell you how much we love and adore this place. Gunung Paradis indeed is a paradise. The house is located in a beautiful garden and the staff provides excellent service. It is a little bit further away from Munduk, which has the advantage that the weather is usually a bit better. We loved the spacious rooms, the people and the food there.

It is a bit further away from Munduk and or the coast, so you do need a driver or a car to get around.

Everything! The staff were so friendly and always there to help, the villa was outstanding - clean, comfortable and so lovely to sit on the porch at night reading and listening to the wildlife. They serve your food every morning and night (if you order from them) and it was such a nice touch. We felt like royalty.

Maybe some mosquito spray inside the villa to spray the rooms with, as we did get bitten at night even with the body spray on. But that’s not really a big issue as it’s nature!

Amazingly located in nature and beautifully designed villas. The staff was really caring to make sure our stay with 2 small children was pleasant. A bit of room for improvement could be the food. Some Indonesian dishes missed the traditional flavour of spices and chili. But still ok.

It is the beautiful fate that brought us together in this "Paradise". We sang, we laughed, we enjoyed every moment there. If one day, life brings me again to Bali, I will absolutely spend more days there. It is 100% recommended to go with your friends, family, or spiritual group.

Very welcome host. Our so called ‘Butler’ took very good care of us. Delicious food, nice pool, big house with 3 bedrooms, water from a well so drinkable.

I only missed a mosquito net in the bedrooms or the option to hang my own, rest was perfect.

I absolutely loved the garden and the villa and the pool - I liked it so much that I would not like to go for trips and stayed there to simply enjoy the place! Great place to recover and enjoy yourself. The owners are very nice people taking time to talk to their guests. You can get great food here and enjoy massage too, swimming or doing nothing just looking at all the beautiful plants growing here.
