The Talbot is an unexpected gem. The staff are really friendly, the rooms really large with eclectic furnishings and the position is about as good as you could get in the town. The bar and restaurant are also good. You're also only a couple of doors down from the absolutely unique McDonnell's Bar where you absolutely have to spend some time.

It's a really small thing but it would be so much nicer if the light bulbs in the rooms were warm light rather than cold light. It makes a major difference to how a room feels. We bring our own travel side lighting for hotels where the lighting is harsh and so aren't particularly affected by this, but the Talbot could make this minor change and get an instant improvement in room feel.

Funky family run hotel with great colour everywhere. We had dinner on the night we stayed the food was very good but a little dissapointed with the sea food options. Bedroom was lovely with tea/coffee making facilities and a little fridge with bottled water.

It was very busy the night we stayed and a boiler broke so we had no hot water for a shower but there was plenty the next morning.

Receptionist Emma is certainly an asset. Room was beautiful huge bath in the bedroom was a luxurious touch. Menu was very varied something for everyone. Great location for visiting attractions. And central with some great pubs, amazing Guinness to be found. Lucky enough to be there to get some pics of the last blue moon till 2037!!

There was a strange loud noise around 7am went on for quite a while, not sure what it was or if it was above or next to us, a bit like someone using some kind of machine over and over. Had the Boxty and poached egg from the morning bar menu fine boxty was good but the egg yolk was very hard. Overall we would definitely book again as these were minor issues really.

From the minute we walked in the front door we where made to feel very welcome, super friendly staff who all looked like they all enjoyed working here . Special mention to Emma on reception who took time on her own initiative to show us a map of local places and areas of interest. I've stayed in 100's of hotels and Emma was one the friendliest reception staff I have ever encountered. This hotel is off the beaten track on the wild Atlantic way and is hidden gem . Spacious hotel room with a large comfortable bed . Hotel is quite large and spacious inside which is deceiving from booking site and absolutely would come back . Belmullet was a great destination for traveling around all the hidden bays in area and beyond.

EMMA at the check in desk was great. She rose to the challenge in creating and even printing a Bellmullet itinerary for our trip. She had a great humor. Staff was great. Hotel was qirky.

Decoration was a bit odd in places and the common spaces were not as clean as I like. *rooms were very clean

It’s a beautiful boutique style small hotel. Well located in town and so close to the must visit locations in north mayo. The staff are really helpful and the food in the restaurant is always excellent. We’ve travelled here on a couple of occasions and we go back to the talbot because it’s consistently good.

What’s not to like?

Good location in one of the few towns in the area, easy parking on the roadside, clean and comfortable, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, excellent buffet breakfast with options for cooked breakfast, decent restaurant and bar. Easy access to the beautiful coasts and countryside of North Mayo

The lighting in the room was a bit dim

This place is a must stay as very unique. We had a fabulous room with a bath and was spacious. Everything has been meticulously designed and furnished. The people were friendly and helpful and the bar and restaurant very clean and beautiful with great food. Photos don’t do it justice.

Lovely staff. Very welcome after a day of horizontal rain. Dinner was grand!

Shower temperature control very stiff. Had a get help to change the temperature from scalding! But was then fine! Bedside light switches didn’t seem to switch anything on or off!! But it was still really lovely!
