We had the nicest stay in this hotel. The food in the Douglas Hyrde restaurant was simply fantastic . One of the waiters Jaco (a south African guy ) was very nice , great conversation and very funny . The Thermal suite is fantastic . We did the therapy baths and found it so relaxing and detoxing. Rachel was so helpful and nice to deal with there . A very kind a d sweat lady called Mary dealt with is for breakfast and was very welcoming . Cocktails in the Dungeon bar were great . We did a tour of the Drumshambo Gunpowder Gin distillery (The Shed) which we thought was brilliant and excellent value for money . Forest park in Boyle is about 20 mins away and also good for daytime stroll/activity. The rooms were really clean and all the decor around the hotel was fresh and not at all jaded We will be going back again very soon.

Great hotel in a wonderful setting. A warm welcome at reception was given. The food was exceptional, with wonderful staff both in the restaurant and bar.

A great stay & experience was let down at the very end by the poor conduct of the receptionist at checkout. There was no smile or simple "good morning" or even checking by asking if we had enjoyed our stay or pleasantries when we were leaving, like hope you have a good day or hope to see you again. Instead we were just asked for our room number and set down our bill, which we paid and then left. Simply shocking standard for someone at front of house - especially in a hotel of this standard. A great stay let down at the end.

Stayed here for two nights for my husbands birthday. Beautiful hotel and beautiful decor. The food in all of the restaurants was exceptional. The staff were all excellent. The bed was very comfortable. Having elemis products in the bathroom was a nice touch. Nespresso machine in the bedroom is always appreciated.

The bathroom was dated and is due a makeover. The hotel could easily refurbish the bathroom/s and keep it in the style of an old property but certainly it was a tad bit rough around the edges. Leaking sink tap which constantly dripped. Counter tops dated and chipped. Shower head needed replaced as the water did not disperse evenly.

Staff was exceptional. Spa treatment was great. Morning breakfast was very good

Spa: while the treatment itself was superb, the spa was missing a little touches that most spas offer such as infused water, little snacks, and you had to ask for extra towels. The thermal suite is not worth the cost to get in, but if you are getting a treatment it is free. Note, when we were there more than half of the jets in the thermal spa (spa treatment section) were not working. Room: the carpet needed upgrading because it looked original and was stained. For this type (cost) of facility, they should offer either a Keurig or Nespresso machine not just your basic water and freeze dried coffee.

The setting of this hotel is wonderful and beautiful, our room was verycomfortable and quiet. We had dinner in the dining room and the food was delicious. The service was excellent.

The room came with a free breakfast. The line was so long waiting for a table that we didn't wait and left without eating, which was unfortunate. If they had opened up the other dining area, which was adjacent to the breakfast area, I don't think there would have been a line. I realize there may have been a wait due to staffing, but at least people could have been seated.

The staff were very accommodating and polite. There was a mixup with our room but they sorted it effectively. One guest is coeliac and staff were very careful with that. The breakfast was excellent. Cocktails were delicious! The spa treatments were absolutely fabulous, the best we’d ever had!

We all felt that as we were guests and had paid for treatments that it would be reasonable for us to use the thermal suite without paying extra. In the restaurant for casual dining, all three of us found our beef quite tough, one member had steak, slightly tough, 2 of us had the Chinese beef, one was gluten free and particularly tough. The flavour however, was beautiful.

We were 3 friends who decided to celebrate our collective 60th birthdays at the Castle. From the moment we drove up, we were in awe! The property was stunning. The staff was so lovely and attentive. When we reached our rooms there were birthday chocolates waiting for us all. The highlight was our trip to the spa. We all had a service and enjoyed the thermal spa....what a treat! We had dinner in the "casual" dining room but you would never have know, as it was delicious! The "castle" itself has many lovely room for all to enjoy including fireplace libraries. Walking the grounds while the sun was out was just amazing. So many highlights, but breakfast was my fave. We sat in a formal room that overlooked the garden. Mary took exceptional care of us and the food was OUTSTANDING! What an absolute TREAT!

I hesitate to even mention this, but we did need to walk through the casual dining area to get to our rooms and the spa. It was a bit awkward while people were dining

Very luxurious. And staff very attentive. The grounds are amazing. Three staff members stood out…Isobel knows how to make customers feel valued (she made sure I was comfortable as a solo traveller), Maria is very welcoming and efficient on reception and Mary is very down to earth, observant and attentive…has the Irish charm. Overall, I had a wonderful stay. Unfortunately I was working, but I will return to take full advantage of the luxury, spa, attentive yet discreet service, great food, and of course indulgence in the peaceful location. It's just wow. The place is full of history. Starting from the hall where you are greeted by a large table, paintings and a huge chandelier, the restaurant with a sultry atmosphere, the drawing room with a beautiful fireplace. Our room was charming. I felt like a princess in it. The bed is comfortable. The window opened to a wonderful view of the lake. Huge ceilings in the room and in the bathroom. The temperature is adjustable, we were not cold. On the lower floor there is a swimming pool, two saunas and a jacuzzi. The only minus is that the jacuzzi smelled so much that it was impossible to stay there for more than two minutes. And my eyes remained red for a long time after the jacuzzi. There were too many adults with children in the pool and this made it very noisy and there was not much space. There is no small pool for children. The food in the restaurant is delicious, but not to my taste, but my husband liked it. I recommend everyone to come here at least once.

But be prepared that you will be without internet for the duration of your vacation. Wi-Fi did not work at all.
