from booking into the hotel everything was very straight forward. all the staff we met were polite friendly and helpful. the rooms were clean, great view of the med, Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices to satisfy most clients. The swimming pool was regularly cleaned. the sun terraces was a great place to sit and enjoy the great weather and view. A great value hotel nearby restaurants were great. overall very impressed we hope to return again.

we liked everything about the hotel and the local town. A great base to tour the cinque terre and portofino by rail as the station was an easey walk away

The location and the view of Hotel Leopold are absolutely amazing. Just above the ocean with a view across the bay of Moneglia and a 10 minute walk from the city and the beach (3 minutes), there is little to be desired. Also it felt very safe and cozy as the main entrance was always open and welcoming. The staff was very forthcoming to us asking for a late checkout and everyone always has a smile on their face. Even with limited Italian, we were always able to make each other understood. Since it is a family run hotel, it has a certain level of cozyness and calmness and the interior decoration with the many statues and marble figures gave it an amazing Italian flair. Lastly, Hotel Leopold had the best breakfast buffet we had in 2 weeks of Italy. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, good juices and freshly made coffee - all that with the amazing view. It is very hard to top this as a start to your day.

Reception is rarely occupied and we had to call the hotel to get our checkout done.

- the centre of the village is only 10 minutes walk, however you need to walk up and down the hill and with high temperatures in summer, it gets a bit tiring and sweaty

The location of this hotel is unbelievable!!!! It’s a short walk from the beach and the view from our room was sensational. We could hear the waves from our room and feel the gulf breeze on the balcony. This hotel is also a short walk from downtown, which is so full of life/many restaurants and shops. Family or couple appropriate! This is a multi generational family hotel run by family. We adored the Leopold family. There were some language barriers but we found ways to communicate and share laughs. One member speaks English and Google Translator or nonverbals helped with the rest. The breakfast is warm traditional Italian foods with the addition of pancakes and pastries. They are even skilled baristas with complimentary coffees at breakfast- cappuccino/expression/etc. There is a heated pool that over looks like gulf. Gave us old Hollywood vibes. The hotel is super clean, well maintained and the family works so hard!!! Really hoping to return. Highly recommended for a glimpse into Italian culture.

The fantastic little Hotel Leopold boasts a unique location on a hillside overlooking the sea, just a few steps from the beach. All the rooms have private balconies with sea view. The hotel is pretty, the rooms are well-equipped. Breakfast is far beyond expectations, including fresh fruit, tasty vegetables, and fresh cakes beside the usual croissants, crumbled eggs etc. An extraordinary, terraced pool landscape invites to swimming, wellness, and relaxing for hours. This family-run hotel is a true discovery!

The location is great, with beautiful views over the Mediterranean sea. The pebble stone beach is 5 minutes walk away, the train station (to visit cinque de terre for instance) is also 5 minutes away and the city center can be reached in 15 minutes walk. We had the family apartment which is very spacious. The staff was friendly and worked very hard to compensate for the understaffing. Also it wasn’t busy when we stayed so we pretty much had the pool to ourselves.

The state of the hotel is not up to date and the apartment was certainly not as clean as it should be but it was ok enough. The was no airconditioning in the apartment and since it didn’t cool off much at night the rooms remained hot during the night.

We were allowed to spend 7 days in this beautiful hotel. We especially liked the location of the hotel. You have a breathtaking view of the sea and the coast. After Moneglia you walk a pleasant path partly along the sea. Moneglia is a pleasant place with stores and restaurants, just right and not so touristy. Below the hotel is a beautiful beach. It is reached by many stairs, so you should be good on foot. We went to Cinque Terre by train, the station is 10 minutes away by foot. The hotel is super managed by father and son. They have always fulfilled our wishes. The two have a lot of work, but they do it very well. The coffee in the morning was perfect! Thank you Leo & Leo!!! The hotel manager and all the staff were so pleasant! We enjoyed the location and the breakfast. We had a corner room so the two balconies with the panoramic view of the sea was incredible. The breakfast was delicious and had great variety. We asked the hotel manager if they had a shuttle/car to the train station. He noticed our luggage and took us in our own car! The sweetest!

We had everything we needed and no complaints!

The views out to sea are simply beautiful. The location was perfect. It is peaceful but very close to the town. We took a long hike out to ponte Moneglia through the woods and up over the mountain. We didn’t pass a soul. The Nonna who checked us in (83 years old) was a true character full of life and interest. I have to mention the breakfast! Oh my! What a fabulous selection. Really amazing spread of delicious foods of all types. I ate far too much!

It would’ve been nice if the bar was open more frequently as the terraced patio has spectacular views. The bedroom is small but the views are incredible.

The location is super cool, very chill with a beautiful view. The staff was very cool and easy, you really had a familiar feeling at this place. The terrace was great and the beach was often empty and relaxing.

Getting to the center is a bit harder due to the „hilly“ landscape, especially with high temperatures :D
