Gorgeous property in a tranquil setting. Building itself is reminiscent of Swiss chalet with delightful garden which must be a real joy in spring & summer while still being pleasant in autumn. Rooms are large with an elevator to the top floor. Complimentary tea facilities in dining room. Breakfast was excellent with choice of eggs on request, coffee made to order. Staff really friendly.

Just a tad far from historical centre 30-40min casual stroll with steep climb on return so you wouldn’t really want to go for dinner in the old town unless you took a taxi. Fortunately there are some good local restaurants within walking distance (1km).

The property is secluded, beautiful and a great location. Everything was clean and our room was tidied daily. The breakfast was delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful. When I travel I like to stay in areas a little further away from the crowds and this was perfect! The Villa is approximately 10 minutes by taxi to Lake Como. You can ride the buses for less of a walk as well, but we chose to take the ~20 minute walk one day and it was very easy.

Absolutely stunning house, beautiful gardens, exceptional service. Felt very welcomed by the staff. We got caught in a storm downtown and Susanna helped us get a ride back to the hotel on quick notice when we couldn't find a way back. Helped us arrange transportation on our last day and was so friendly and helpful with anything we needed. I got the feeling that the people working here really love it. The gardens are like something out of a fairytale, well kept and when we visited, were full of fragrant flowers and plenty of privacy and quiet places to sit and enjoy them. The view of the hills and listening to the rain or birds, or sitting in the impressive library for a quick read or game of checkers, was exactly the peaceful getaway we were hoping for. The main part of town is about a 30-40 minute walk (and the property is on top of hill), but it is doable. There's an awesome bakery and a grocery store that are closer by. When we did go to town or out on the lake we always found plenty to do or enjoy, but honestly the place was so beautiful we stayed in more than we planned!

Everything about Ronco Dell'Abate far exceeded my expectations. You arrive through a massive wooden gate that opens up to a beautiful lush garden that has scenes of Como in the background. The building itself is a stone time capsule that it so well maintained. Our mouths dropped when we arrived. The owners of Ronco gave us a very detailed tour of the home and explained to us all of the historical elements that make it so enchanting. We ate breakfast their all the days we stayed and let me just say...it was the best, most beautiful, delicious breakfast that we had in Italy. The hosts and their generous hospitality, the rooms, the amenities, the wine, the windows (yes the windows), the parking situation, location, everything was just amazing. We absolutely loved our stay at Ronco Dell'Abate and I promise you will too! We feel so lucky to have stayed here and can't wait to be back!

The location is great and the house is beautiful! Also the hosts are super friendly.

The sanitary facilities are very old, they look good, but you need to wait while the shower is heating and also the flush in the toilet is very sensitive, you need to be vertically careful with it otherwise it would not hold the water. Also, there is a shelf under there bed where the headrest should be and me and my husband always bang our heads on it, that is a wire design solution 😅

Fascinating property with interesting history. Huge rooms and extras like the library were a real treat. Susannah was an excellent host. The breakfasts were stunning. We loved it.

It was quite a walk to the lake but we found the N11 bus which is a 5-minute walk away and took us to the lake and to a lido. Highly recommend using that.

Nothing to dislike. Some have mentioned about the location not being ‘near’ Como. This is somewhat true but it’s not a long walk (does have one big hill to consider). The location was perfect for us however as we drove our own car so didn’t fancy driving into the centre of Como (very narrow) so location was perfect for what we needed.

Walking through the massive doors, you are brought to a breath taking modern edwardian build inside the property. theirs a charger for an electric car , producing 7kw. lovely confertable bed and an amazing view of the city como in the living room.

Beautiful setting preserving old villa luxury like the libary, furniture, sound system. Incredible!

Just some mosquitos in our room that were very annoying and also it was possible to blackout all the light on the room (because of this i woke up early the morning).

Beautiful property, such a great experience to stay there. The room was more like a suite with a separate sitting room, hallway and bathroom plus a balcony. Just outside Como but fine to walk it or we had a car and well worth it for the space and experience. Staff were fab and very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
