All the basics were fine: the bed and linens were comfortable, the shower was excellent, the room was spacious, the cleaning staff did a great job, the furnishings were a bit threadbare but clean. It has none of the trendy charm of the former Royalton from its Philippe Starck days in the 1990s, but at least you no longer need a flashlight to negotiate the formerly fashionably-dimmed corridors. The location is great. The staff are lovely and helpful. It is modest but solid.

I miss its former glamour. I used to love the chic bar, which also served fabulous nibbles. Too bad the hotel no longer has food service. It has come down in the world. But it's still well located and comfortable. if you can get a good room rate, and don't require a luxury hotel, it's a good option.

Fantastic central location with friendly helpful staff. Room was spacious and comfortable and cleaned well every day. Slept really well as was in a room at the rear of the property which was quiet on a night and the bed was really comfortable. Coffee shop, bars and restaurants all close by.

It would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room but there’s a great coffee shop next door. The plug next to the bed only worked if you kept the light on which wasn’t ideal for charging overnight.

Location, good in design, nice staff

No coffee machine either in room or in loopy. No ramp at entrance you need to carry your luggage.

Fantastic location one street behind time square and very close to other landmarks in New York. Staff were very nice and extremely helpful, could not speak more highly of them. I got upgraded on arrival as I was staying for quite a few days. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel lobby was also a perfect place to do some work.

When I turned off the aircon the fan still ran which was a bit annoying. But other than that everything was great!

The location of this hotel is excellent - 2 blocks from Times Square, and just off 5th avenue. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Our first room was quite dismal but the staff happily relocated us for minimal cost. The new room had a bigger bed (King) and a separate living area which was great.

Unfortunately the hotel hasn't quite recovered from Covid. There is no longer a restaurant or a bar and the place feels quite abandoned when you first enter. The decor is quite dated, it looks vey 60's, and I believe was a 'party hotel' in the past. Sad there are no more parties as the place is in a great location.

I liked the location. It was so central to a lot of the things I wanted to do. The staff were lovely from start to finish and were very accommodating. The room was very clean and had all the usual amenities and more. It was a spacious room too. The bed was sooo comfortable. It was a nice quiet hotel.

The upholstered seat in the room had some staining. One of the doors is exit only. They could let you know before hand because maps often directs you to the wrong door.

It was quiet and the staff were terrific. I liked the lobby a lot and the staff were very accommodating when we wanted to hang out there after we checked out (it was so hot outside). They also allowed us to leave our bags with them for a few more hours. The room was fine, too.

The room was kind of depressing. There is no view out the window and it smelled like cigarettes, or more likely, marijuana. It was a non-smoking room but there was no getting away from the smell in the room.

The entrance needed some life! All those lovely spaces, and not even a coffee bar or station! Also - several things didn’t work in our room. The iron, the fridge, the phone. Nothing that ruined our stay, but minor annoyances.

The location is great for Mid Town, 5th Ave and Central Park. The room was clean and large for NYC.

The hotel has no restaurant facilities at all. The Royalton was very trendy in the 1990’s and now feels like a hotel that has seen better days.

Excellent location, spacious rooms with seating area and desk, and big bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean and plenty of storage space.

A shame that the ground floor bar/restaurant is out of use.
