The sauna and bath are great. The futon is great. The breakfast starts at 7am but I check-out early at 630am because the bus from Takasagodai-8-chome departs at 7.11am. They allow early breakfast anyway. The breakfast was delicious. The staff did not understand English but very quick thinking to use Google translate - no major issue.

The location is reachable by bus 53/630 at bus stop Takasagodai-8-chome. Checked with the Asahikawa Tourist Center. They mentioned to me that I should get off at Takasagodai-Iriguchi which was 800m downhill from the Takasago Onsen bus stop (Takasagodai-8-chome). My fault because I didn’t confirm with the hotel first. So, after walking uphill for +800m with huge backpack, asking 3 locals who were kind enough to give me the direction.

It was very traditional so we had to take off our shoes at the counter when we registered. There were many ppl using the public bath as well and it was usually more crowded at nights than during the day. There were two levels to the onsens and some were smaller than others, some were also outdoor. We loved all the retro stuff with ultraman displays and old game consoles. The arcade area with attached snack/sweet shop was a nice touch. Some games were free to play while some cost 100-200yen per game. The electronic games were only switched on from 5-9pm. There were free bedroom slippers and hair ties etc that we could take near the registration counter. There was a microwave, hot water and laundry area on the second floor. Lots of manga books around, dedicated child play area, table tennis area. Vending machines were great too. Did not manage to explore the restaurant.

Carpets smell old. Curtains in my room had holes. Toilet flush in my room was noisy. No toiletries provided in my room except for a bar of soup and handwash. 4 futons in one room was a bit tight including luggage area. A futon was placed next to the fridge and it felt rather odd.

Going to takesagoonsen is like visiting the Japan in Showa time, but with modern communication ease. The staff are helpful and manage to talk in simple English so that it makes our stay very convenient. They also have a nostaglic shop and game corner at the 1st floor and I am 100% sure everyone will like it, from kids to grandparents. The onsen is fantastic. The hotel caters for everyone's need to explore the Showa Japan culture.

There is no breakfast available from the restaurant: but I am sure if more clients request it, they will have it later.

This hotel is so retro and fun. Very family friendly. The dinner and breakfast was great and free parking. The staff were super nice. We stayed in the room with the hot tub on the roof and it was the coolest room ever! Definitely our favorite stay in Hokkaido! We really didint know what to expect but absolutely loved how retro this place was. It really felt like stepping back in time. The tatami futons were super comfortable and I fell asleep instantly.

Great amenities, there were a lot of areas to explore in the Ryokan and it was kept very clean. They have a DDR machine (note the opening hours though) and a manga shelf (which is cool even if we couldn't read Japanese). The futon and chairs are comfortable and the rooms are gorgeous. The onsen has some unique baths, and an outdoor pool area looking out to the city. The staff are very nice, note also they only speak Japanese, and I got the impression this is a stay frequented more by locals than tourists.

The ryokan is quite old (eg the floor of the onsen is very slippery, and some parts of the hotel show signs of wear and tear). You are given only one key for each room, and it would have been nice if breakfast was included. In terms of convenience, you can get to the Ryokan from Asahikawa station via an hourly bus that takes half an hour to get there, else taxi/driving is your next best bet to getting around.

-Really traditional room with tatami flooring and futon -Many pools to choose from -Many other options for entertainment, like ping-pong tables, arcade game machines, and a manga corner

-A bit far from the station -There are some signs telling how old the building is, but honestly, it's more charming than anything

This is the perfect place to stay in Asahikawa, we loved it. We had a huge room, tatami beds. But what a place. The retro arcade room rocks, so many classics in there. The onsen has a huge number of baths in it all different temperatures and was so relaxing. The facility is lovely.

Nothing, I guess the place is a little old but that doesn't matter at all.

Friendly and super attentive staffs. There is a cafe at hotel premise, and very convenient for us to have dinner after our Onsen relaxation. Very convenient to drive to Furano, Biei and any other ski resorts. Lift available for us to bring baggage.

This is an awesome onsen, has a really cool theme, a manga library, retro themed stuff, and then the baths... they have all sorts of multicolored baths and an outdoor one if you go through a tiny door up onto the roof. rooms were super spacious and decently comfy though it definitely shows it's age.

great value stay! good onsen, large room。 lots of retro games for kids to spend time, close driving distance to ski parks。

The hotel is very large, but lots of space was not in use and bit dark to explore。
